Now reading: Chapter 697: Act 93 Return, Fir Castle2 from Amber Sword, a Game novel by Crimson Flame.

However, this also ans that Brand nearly had a team composed of Upper Silver Strength within a day or two. Upper Silver could secure a mid-level captain's position in the kingdom's second-line corps, and the military literacy of the Rubis rcenaries was not bad at all. Brand even considered making them the backbone of his officer team.

But the identity of the Summoned Creatures was a bit troubleso. Brand didn't think any soldier would willingly charge fearlessly alongside a leader who they knew would just be reborn if they died.

This issue made him rub his forehead more than once. The reason was simple — he lacked enough talented people. Besides the Summoned Creatures, he could hardly find anyone who could stand alone.

Although Antitina had the ability for calm analysis and broad vision, he still thought this noble daughter lacked experience. Actually, Brand might have been nitpicking here, considering he himself had centuries of experience fighting through mountains of corpses and seas of blood, scheming against the nobles — though it was in a ga, experience doesn't fade no matter where it's obtained — his standards might have been a bit too high in his eyes.

In the eyes of many rcenary group leaders, however, Antitina could be described as the best strategist — refined and calm in insight, with her own opinions, far-sighted, considerate, and always seeing what others could not.

Not to ntion, she possessed vast knowledge, seemingly omnipotent. Only Char could engage in conversation with her on that level; the others often felt as if they were drifting in a cloud of mist during etings she convened.

Yet one couldn't deny that what she said made sense.

They had long been guessing exactly what kind of noble this lady was. Even those close advisers serving the great nobles probably were no better. In this sense, Fern had the most experience; this forr cavalry captain had a peculiar look when he saw Antitina.

In his view, this lady was exactly the kind of inner circle confidant, raised from a long-standing, affluent noble family, trained specifically to serve their offspring — of course, Fern, being the rough, ill-bred lower soldier he was, couldn't help but scurrilously speculate whether this lady would also need to attend to her lord's less than honorable needs if necessary.

Such speculation didn't exist only in Fern's mind. The rcenaries more or less had such thoughts since Antitina's actions sotis went beyond the scope of a re staff mber — Brand had given her huge amounts of power, such trust was sothing they could hardly imagine, leaving only one explanation.

That was, Antitina herself must be that young lord's woman.

Unfortunately, Brand was oblivious to these subtleties, while the noble daughter seed to turn a blind eye, allowing the misunderstanding to continue tacitly.

Of course, back to the main topic.

Brand's dissatisfaction with Antitina sotis showed openly, this near-teaching discontent didn't imply the noble daughter had fallen out of favor in others' eyes; instead, it was proof of his high regard for her.

However, this also made them marvel at the high standards of their lord. Yet Brand's scolding was mostly justified, so naturally, everyone ca to a realization:

What is high? This is high!

Consequently, Brand was naturally covered by an aura, with nearly everyone believing he was indeed an heir sent out from those ancient noble families for training.

Only the maid corps commander, Yuta, who had the most dealings with the nobles, expressed skepticism, while Crenxia and Fern chose to follow their intuition — though n's instincts often weren't that reliable — anyway, they all felt Brand would surely lead them to a bright future.

On the other hand, besides Antitina, only Fern, the forr captain of the Karasu Cavalry, who was the only reliable rcenary with so military literacy, could catch Brand's eye, even more so than Yuta, who was diligent in her tasks.

In Brand's eyes, Yuta's flaw was being too ticulous. Although won have an innate suspicious nature, sotis those who achieve great things don't bother with trifles. People who get bogged down in details can't look at the bigger picture, which explained why Fern and Crenxia could quickly understand the situation and integrate into his team, while the maid corps commander remained out of step.

The recent mine incident seed to have finally dispelled her doubts. She had assured Brand that she would stay at Shafelund to monitor Ogins' every move, trusting him with her subordinates in Fir City, believing he wouldn't take the opportunity to do sothing she'd regret.

But honestly, it was a bit too late. Crenxia and Fern had found their places while the maid corps commander had to start over from scratch, falling half a step behind from the start.

Therefore, Brand wasn't optimistic about the maid corps commander for the ti being.

As for Crenxia, although capable, he was overly slick. Brand would never fully trust soone like that until he felt in control. Being a squad leader, he understood the importance of knowing how to use people wisely.

Only Fern had the courage, calmness, and the ability to see the situation clearly. His only flaw was having a narrow vision. Brand couldn't help but smile; how far could he expect a forr cavalry captain to see?

Ultimately, they were not forr players able to view the world from a higher perspective. Thus, players could naturally stand on equal footing with those great nobles, but these people couldn't.

Though people can change, Brand didn't have the ti for it now. His current troubles weren't sothing he could gradually level up through.

His enemies were far more powerful right from the start, and they wouldn't give him the ti to grow his wings. He glanced at Fern and Crenxia standing beside him and couldn't help shaking his head.

Where were the talents he needed?
