The battle had reached a fever pitch—
Brand raised the Earth Sword with both hands and slashed at the Five-headed Lizard's marble pillar-like right forepaw. Despite its massive size, this giant creature moved with astonishing dexterity, retracting its right forepaw as if with foreknowledge, and Brand's sword only cut through an afterimage.
However, the power of the Earth Sword imdiately shattered the ground beneath the Five-headed Lizard's feet. The soil and stone tablets heaved to the sides, collapsing into a cone-shaped trench that made the massive creature lose its balance, causing its entire body to tilt sideways.
Yet, pursuing an advantage wasn't so easy for Brand. The Five-headed Lizard's five heads whipped in the air like lashes, diving down to bite in succession, forcing the young lord to retreat repeatedly, exiting the ten-foot lee range.
Kulan, Qian, and Lopar, approaching the Five-headed Lizard from behind, found an opportunity to attack. But as Brand saw them closing in, he imdiately shouted, "Watch out for the Poison Liquid Shield!"
Kulan and Qian froze, seeing a dark green liquid shield materialize out of thin air before them. Both, being experienced, ca to an abrupt halt, though the old swordsman was evidently more seasoned. He stopped and simultaneously flung a dagger at the magic shield.
A faint hissing sound was heard as the dagger turned into white smoke before even piercing through the Poison Liquid Shield.
"By Martha!" the old man inwardly sighed in relief, thankful for Brand's tily warning. But how were they supposed to deal with this cursed thing?
anwhile, the Fire Claw Lizardman Lord, Lopar, seed unfazed. The lizardman lord, with its ever-majestic deanor and cold gleam in its pale yellow eyes, charged straight through the Poison Liquid Shield. The poison washed over it without any effect, rely cleansing the gri off its dark red scales.
Poison immunity!
Brand hadn't anticipated this from the Fire Claw Lizardman. Still, the Five-headed Lizard was a reptile too, making Lopar and it akin—compatible adversaries with mutual restraining thods.
Lopar surprised everyone—including the Five-headed Lizard itself—by breaking into its close range. The enormous creature was too late to turn back, and the Fire Claw Lizardman Lord wielded an oversized double-headed sword. With one thrust into the creature's right hind leg, flas erupted from the sword.
The tendons and blood vessels in the Five-headed Lizard's leg vaporized before the blood could splatter, ejecting a ribbon-like red mist.
The monster threw its heads back all at once, emitting a piercing scream that echoed for dozens of miles around, startling a flock of birds from the woods.
Simultaneously, the poison liquid shield hovering behind it rippled and then disappeared.
This is the mont.
Kulan and Qian realized and imdiately lunged forward. But after just two steps, they felt the ground give way beneath them.
"What is this?" Qian exclaid, seeing countless vivid green thorny vines sprout from the fractured ground, snaking toward her feet as if alive.
She wasn't the only one; the sa fate befell the old swordsman, Kulan.
Having just caught his breath from the Five-headed Lizard's frontal attack, Brand noticed the plight of Qian and Kulan. Seeing the poisonous thorns the monster had summoned, he had no ti to explain. He thrust his sword into the ground to halt his backward montum, simultaneously extending his left hand forward with a pointed finger—
Everyone saw bright green light spots appear in mid-air behind Brand, but they weren't just light spots—they were small magic arrays forming in the air.
The magic arrays filled most of the sky behind Brand, spreading out like a pair of translucent green wings.
In the next mont, clusters of green light shot out from the magic arrays like cannonballs, leaping from the ground and soaring forward, rapidly coalescing into a crescent shape.
Brand played another card.
Over a hundred golden holy swords aid in a semi-surrounding formation at the Five-headed Lizard.
From a distance, the young warriors were stunned. They had imagined the most dazzling swordsmanship, the most terrifying magic, but never such an awe-inspiring power—this was their lord's strength.
