It reminded her of when she was young—

Veronica carefully observed Qian's reaction, feeling sowhat amused. But just then, a sudden sound arose from the windswept sands outside.

A pebble slid down the mountainside in the gale, as if soone were walking between the cliffs.

The sound of footsteps startled both won. Veronica instinctively reached for the Sword at her waist, but grabbed empty air before recalling that Sky Blue had already been handed over to Brand.

Therefore, she only managed to raise her head when hearing the approaching footsteps outside, followed by a voice asking amidst the wind and sand:

"Are there other travelers inside? Can I co in to shelter from the wind? This weather is really unfriendly."

Upon hearing this voice, Veronica's brow slightly lifted.

"Please co in, my lord Earl." The lady hesitated for a mont before responding.

The person outside the cave paused briefly at this response, seemingly taken aback, but quickly rushed in. The light in the cave dimd slightly; the newcor placed a hand on a Sword while standing at the entrance, looking down at Veronica.

"Veronica!"

Before Qian's eyes was a familiar face.

Gray Sword Saint phisto.

...

Ever since entering the Black Obsidian Giant Gate guarding Valhalla, it was as if stepping into an expansive underground space, the entire area imrsed in boundless, silent darkness—Brand and the others advanced for a while under the lack of light before their vision gradually adapted to the environnt.

They gradually realized they were moving upward along a cylindrical 'bridge', surrounded by many similar 'bridges' concentrating upward, forming a gentle slope.

These 'bridges' had no railings around, sounding perilous, but in reality, these cylindrical surfaces were tens of ters wide, making it quite stable to walk upon.

Yet occasionally glancing back downwards, the 'cylinders' behind them plunged into the endless dark below, seemingly without end, while upon looking up, the tops of the 'cylinders' extended infinitely forward, disappearing into the darkness.

This visual illusion almost made one feel they were vertically ascending, as if traversing the world's center before Chaos was created, where a single misstep could lead one spiraling into the endless Abyss.

Anyone gazing too much in such an environnt would inevitably feel weakened, not to ntion a certain soone in the team.

Brand hadn't walked far before feeling a hand other than Funiya's take hold of his; turning his head, he saw the frightened Faina, who had sohow co beside him, her face already drained of color.

The noble young lady looked at him pitifully, seemingly pleading him not to make a sound. But Brand inwardly chuckled; William couldn't possibly be unaware of the young lady's actions, and Funiya's ears were quite keen too.

In other words, she was rely deceiving herself.

"Can't even light a torch?" Brand asked in the darkness.

"An Ever-burning Torch is ineffective, and Magic doesn't work; perhaps there's a forced Magic Power suppression." The old wizard beside him spoke as if discussing sothing irrelevant: "But we could try a higher-level Spell."

"Like creating an artificial Sun."

"No need."

Brand knew that Spell well; he didn't want to blow this place up. But the darkness wasn't much of a threat to them; he was more concerned about the enemy behind them.

The young man turned to look back, at the shadowy figures in the entry area—Andesa and her helpers were circling there.

It was William's Spell effect, and it must be said that this Great Wizard's Strength truly matched his reputation; ordinary people wouldn't easily claim they could trap Andesa.

The old man noticed Brand's gaze and couldn't help but smile with narrowed eyes.

He rubbed the top of his Magic Wand, saying proudly, "This Maze Spell should hold them for so ti, but young man, I can't help you much Beyond that."

Setting an ambush behind Valhalla's big door was actually Brand's suggestion; despite having sparred with Andesa, William wasn't clear about the nature of this Shepherd Tree Man Lord, but Brand was different; he knew well that Andesa would certainly fall into this trap.

However, the plan deviated slightly from the original intention—

"If I rember correctly, you Shepherd Tree n and your Silver Alliance are adversaries, right?" Brand couldn't help but lift his head to ask, "Wouldn't it be a good chance to eliminate them?"
