Now at level 9, Wataru was ready to push forward in his adventure! His next destination was Kol Town, where he checked out the local rchant's wares. One item imdiately caught his eye:
Octagon Frog Shield
Price: 7000 Gold
Defense: 70 (Increases to 90 when choosing Defend)
Effect: Reflects poison—when an enemy attacks while you're defending, they beco poisoned.
"Holy moly, 7000 gold?! And that effect is insane! Should I farm for it? Ugh, that'll take forever. Maybe I'll check out that cave I saw earlier and see how much gold the enemies drop first."
Wataru ventured into the nearby cave, where he encountered Drakeema, a larger and more nacing version of the Drake. Defeating one yielded 28–30 gold.
"Screw it, let's farm!" he declared, determined to get the shield.
For nearly an hour, he grinded in the Kol Cave, slaying Drakeema and slowly amassing gold. He leveled up to level 11, but his funds were still short. Frustrated yet determined, he decided to delve deeper into the cave.
There, he encountered Poltergeists, humanoid zombie-like creatures with powerful punches. These enemies were level 11 and slightly harder to defeat, but they dropped 33–36 gold each.
"Jackpot! Looks like I found the real moneymakers."
With renewed enthusiasm, he spent another hour and a half grinding. Finally, after much effort, he gathered enough gold to purchase the Octagon Frog Shield.
"Yes! Finally!" he cheered as he equipped it.
With his new shield, enemies up to level 12 beca a breeze. Even level 12 Skeletons in Kol Cave posed no challenge. Wataru soon faced the mini-boss, a level 14 Warlock. Instead of attacking recklessly, he simply spamd Defend, letting the shield's poison effect wear the enemy down while occasionally striking back.
"Hah! This shield was worth every single coin! Hahaha!"
After defeating the Warlock, Wataru leveled up to level 13 and continued deeper into the cave. At the end of the tunnel, he encountered an unexpected sight—a knight clad in black armor, a gray helt, and glowing eyes. Despite his imposing appearance, the knight was wounded and protecting a child.
Wataru approached cautiously.
"Zabo-Man!? Wait, why is he...dying!?" he exclaid.
Interacting with him triggered a text box:
"Ah, you must be the descendant of Erdrick. Take this—Erdrick's Token. It will prove your lineage. Also... please, protect this child and bring them back to Kol."
The child clung to Zabo-Man, sobbing. "Wuwuwu! I'm so scared! Please, Uncle Knight, don't die!"
Zabo-Man, in typical fashion, smirked despite his injuries. "Don't worry, kid. I'm not dead."
A mission prompt appeared: Escort the child back to Kol. With Erdrick's Token in hand, Wataru guided the child safely back to town. Upon reuniting with their parents, the child smiled through tears.
"Thank you, Mr. Wataru! I hope you have a pleasant journey!"
A prompt followed: Hero's Kindness: Attack 5!
"Whoa, free buff? I'll take it!" Wataru grinned.
The Final Battle Approaches
With his next objective clear, Wataru used the Stone of Sunlight to summon the Rainbow Bridge, allowing him to cross into Cantlin. He acquired several key items during his journey, including the Flute of Revelation. Most importantly, he set his sights on a legendary weapon:
True Erdrick Sword
Attack: 70
Price: 12,000 Gold
Effect: 15% chance to strike twice in a single attack
Realizing the sword's value, he committed to another grind session.
""I must get that sword!" After a long, grueling farming spree, he finally gathered enough gold and purchased the True Erdrick Sword. Equipped with his new legendary weapon, he continued his journey, battling stronger enemies with newfound confidence. After so intense grinding and preparation, he acquired many useful spells, including high-level magic that could buff his attack and defense , a greater heal ETC. With his arsenal complete and confidence at its peak, he was finally ready to take on the final stage—Dragonlord's Castle.
At level 16, Wataru, after obtaining an armor upgrade from a mini-boss in a nearby cave, stepped confidently into Dragonlord's Castle. Unlike previous areas, the enemies here were relentless. Even with full upgrades, they pushed him to his limits. After two grueling hours, he finally reached the boss room, now at level 20. At level 20, Wataru unlocked the ultimate spell—Revive. This powerful ability allowed him to resurrect himself once in battle, but only if he cast it before his defeat. However, it ca at a steep cost, consuming 90% of his total mana, making strategic timing crucial for its effectiveness.
A deep, nacing voice echoed through the chamber:
"Welco, Wataru. I am the Dragonlord, King of Kings. I have awaited your arrival."
The room grew eerily silent.
"I give thee now a chance to share this world and to rule half of it if thou will now stand beside ."
A prompt appeared: YES or NO.
Wataru smirked. "Hell no, you overgrown lizard! I'm here to slay you!"
He confidently selected NO.
"Thou hast refused ? Fool! Then, die!"
The screen flashed red, and the final battle with the Dragonlord began!
Just as Wataru was about to continue playing, his mom stord into the room. "Hey, brat! You've been here for eight hours! Go eat and clean yourself, or I'm throwing that thing out!"
His eyes widened in shock. "Eight hours?! No way!"
Realizing how much ti had passed, he quickly paused the ga and bolted out of the room. As he stepped outside, he chuckled to himself. "Hehehe, this is what gaming should feel like... This is definitely my favorite genre!"
With that, he left the room, already eager to return and continue his adventure later.
To be continued...
