After arriving in Arica on Sunday night, Zaboru and Kudou checked into their hotel, taking the night to rest in preparation for the next day's etings. On Monday morning, they made their way to Erald Wings HQ, where Jas Yoel and Ryan Miller greeted them warmly.
"Welco, Zaboru, Kudou! You two must be tired, right? Let's go sit in our eting room first. I could fetch you sothing to drink. Would cold soda be good?" Jas asked.
Zaboru and Kudou nodded. "Yeah, sounds good."
After so small talk, and drinking the sodas the official discussion began. Zaboru leaned back in his chair and asked, "Last ti I checked, ZEPS' expansion in the US was going pretty well." This was based on the information Jas had given him over the phone last week.
Ryan smiled and nodded. "Absolutely, Zaboru. We're already in the process of shipping ZEPS consoles to key states and retail stores where we expect strong sales. And your flyers—genius! They've been incredibly effective. Custors love them."
Jas nodded in agreent as Zaboru picked up one of the flyers he had designed for the Arican release. The bold visuals featured Contra characters, a Hang-On motorcycle rider, and Rad Racer cars, all ant to captivate the Arican audience. The slogan at the bottom read, "Dream Machine from Mysterious Japan—NOW YOU CAN PLAY WITH POWER, ZEPS!"
Zaboru smirked. "Glad to hear it's working. It's unfortunate that I won't be here for the official release date, but I trust Erald Wings can handle it without , right? If you ever need my input, just call or email ."
Although email and the internet were still in their infancy in 1992, they were already functional, and Zaboru had made sure that ZAGE could use them efficiently for global communication.
"Of course, Zaboru," Jas replied. "Now, let's head to the studio that will make your AD. I'm really curious to see what kind of ad you've co up with!"
With that, Jas and Zaboru headed to the ad studio with Jas Car, while Kudou stayed behind to handle legal matters with Ryan Miller.
Upon arriving at the studio, Zaboru quickly laid out his vision for the advertisent. He had planned everything in advance, bringing along gaplay footage, music, and a detailed storyboard. The ad featured intense action with cars, motorcycles, and gunplay, carefully designed to appeal to the Arican market. The music for the ad had already been patented, ensuring that it would be unique to ZAGE's campaign. The specifics of the ad would be revealed later, but the production process was moving swiftly.
As Monday night rolled around, Zaboru had already fild 50% of the ad, and everything was on schedule to be completed by the next day. Thanks to his ticulous planning, the process was running smoothly. Later that evening, he t with Jas, Ryan, and Kudou in Erald Wings again to discuss future strategies.
"Hey, Ryan or Jas, do you think ZAGE should set up a manufacturing plant in the US?" Zaboru asked.
Ryan shook his head. "I don't think that's a great idea, Zaboru. Labor costs here are high, and land prices are substantial. Even major companies that have manufacturing facilities in the US often do it more for show than actual production. The common practice now is to use third-world countries for manufacturing and then export the products to the US. It's far more cost-effective."
Zaboru nodded, taking in the information. "I see. Fair enough. I'll have to discuss this further with ZAGE's higher-ups to determine the best course of action. Thanks for the insight, Ryan, Jas. You've been a trendous help."
Jas nodded. "So, what about the ad for the Arican audience? Is it ready?"
Zaboru grinned. "It's almost done. I should be able to submit it by Wednesday, or at worst, Thursday."
Jas smiled in approval, and with that, Zaboru and Kudou returned to their hotel for so much-needed rest.
