Lei Qian respected Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan, but that didn't an that he was scared of the two n. He was willing to listen to them but he was not going to ignore Bai iyue just for the sake of pleasing her two brothers. Bai iyue might love her brothers, but Lei Qian was quite certain she didn't like their overprotectiveness.

"She is my baby sister and you are not good enough for her. After what you did, you should have lowered your head and asked her hand for marriage right away, sothing you didn't do," snorted Bai Jixuan. "Now that my sister doesn't want to marry you, you are chasing after her. Do you think that my sister is so kind of toy you can pick whenever you want?"

"No," Lei Qian shook his head before stating in a solemn voice, "I do admit that there were so mistakes in my judgent. But I assure you that I never—not even once—wanted to disrespect Yueyue. If I refused to marry her at once, it was because I wanted to keep her safe from harm's way."

"It was my mistake that I thought she couldn't handle it and I am willing to make up for it."

Lei Qian didn't know that Bai iyue was pretending to be a pig and waiting to eat the tiger. He had kept a watch over her throughout her entire life in the entertainnt industry. He gave her quite a lot of projects in the hope that her father would stop exploiting her but the more projects he handed her, the more greedy Bai Qingshi beca.

He took Lei Qian's help as Bai iyue's sudden rise in popularity and pushed her to work harder. And when he tried to suppress Bai iyue in hopes that Bai Qingshi would stop pushing her to take on more projects when her popularity was high, Bai Qingshi instead pushed her to get more money.

Even if it ant doubling her work.

Bai iyue never fought back and continued working hard like a little puppet who knew nothing other than following the commands of her puppeteer. So, of course, Lei Qian was not confident enough to protect her once he married her.

The Lei family was filled with all kinds of murky waters; his two cousins were waiting to swallow the company and his uncles were not a good thing either.

He was worried that he would do more harm than good to Bai iyue; thus, he pushed the matter of marrying her.

If he knew that she was this skilled, would he have refused?

Though Lei Qian was confused about her sudden change in personality, he deduced it was due to what happened to Bai iyue. Even though he didn't push Bai iyue like that perverted old man did with many won, he was not free from guilt, either.

A woman's dignity held more worth than his entire fortune. This was what his mother had taught him when he was a child, and he stomped on Bai iyue's; there was nothing wrong with her suddenly going a bit unhinged.

No matter what, she didn't do anything to deserve being insulted and then exposed all over social dia. If she was any weaker, she would have killed herself rather than face her culprits!

Just the thought alone was enough to scare Lei Qian.

"Don't you think you are too late to do that now?" Bai Jixuan was so angry that he laughed. This man sure had everything planned. "Don't think that I don't understand what's going on in that little head of yours. You know that the world has ended and marrying Yueyue will not hinder your interests. If anything, my sister's presence will help you. Don't you think you are being too selfish?"

"I don't have such intentions." Did he look like a man who likes to eat soft rice? He didn't need to rely on a woman to make a na for himself.

"Bah! As if I will believe you."

"Then I will work hard to make you believe in ." Lei Qian was not offended by Bai Jixuan's angry words; he even smiled and dealt with the matter quite eloquently.

"You—"

"Alright, that's enough." Bai Zhan pulled his younger brother when he saw that the quarrel was getting worse. He turned to look at Lei Qian, who was still smiling at them and sighed. The wise n were right; one shouldn't hit a smiling face. "Take care."

"Of course, don't worry, big brother. I will bring Yueyue back safely," Lei Qian nodded and turned to chase after Bai iyue.

"Big brother!" Bai Jixuan was speechless and shocked when he saw that his big brother had let Lei Qian off without giving him a hard ti. That man did such a thing to their sister; why was his big brother so calm? Shouldn't he be grilling Lei Qian worse than him?

"What do you keep thinking about all day?" Bai Zhan knocked Bai Jixuan on the forehead and rolled his eyes before saying to him, "You are so stupid and childish. If one day Master Lei sells you off, you will not even know that you were sold off."

"How am I stupid? I clearly stood up for my sister!" In Bai Jixuan's eyes, he did a great job.

Seeing the proud look on his face, Bai Zhan was amused. He shook his head lightly before questioning, "Do you still rember what Master Lei said when you asked him to stay away from Yueyue?"

"That she is a grown woman and can do anything that she wants."

"That's right," Bai Zhan nodded. At least his brother was not a complete goner. "But you still persisted and quibbled with him; tell what Yueyue will think of you."

Bai Jixuan frowned and replied instinctively, "That I think of her as a child and don't believe that she can take care of herself—" He paused as a look of realisation washed over him. His face turned blue and then pale before turning red.

"LEI QIAN!"

That scheming, foxy man! He pitted him rcilessly.
