"There are indeed a few patients who managed to escape." Shen Zhen's expression beca subtle as she answered Bai iyue. Though she didn't say anything, Bai iyue understood that the situation at the hospital was not as optimistic as Shen Zhen was trying to make it sound.
Bai iyue stared at the woman for a while before asking in a bland voice, "Then do you really want to go back to the hospital and save those people?" After asking this question, even Bai iyue felt a bit helpless. She knew that Shen Zhen had a strong sense of duty and she even respected it but she truly couldn't understand why Shen Zhen was so stubborn.
Did she really have to save those people who were stuck in the hospital? They were not worth it if they sent elderly nurses, a young woman who wasn't any older than twenty and a young man along with several kids outside to fend for themselves.
"I have to go back." Shen Zhen's voice was quite firm as she told Bai iyue about her decision. When she saw the exasperated look on Bai iyue's face, Shen Zhen imdiately explained, "It's not that I want to save everyone; it's just that we have so really sick patients, and we also took a few orphans under our care when they had nowhere to go but we don't have so many supplies. So we can only co out and look for supplies ourselves."
After that, Shen Zhen told Bai iyue about the situation at the hospital. It was just as Bai iyue expected. The number of zombies at the hospital was too large and it was hard for anyone to go in and go out. Shen Zhen and the rest had to take a great deal of risk to get out of the hospital.
They actually climbed down the waterpipe!
They left the hospital early in the morning but with so many staggering zombies, they could only move very carefully and slowly. Thus, by the ti they arrived at the mall, it was already one in the afternoon.
As for how they were able to survive till now, it was all thanks to Zhou Hengbei, who was trained in martial arts. He sohow managed to fend off the zombies and protected them from the other survivors; if not for Zhou Hengbei, they would have truly lost their lives.
Only then did Bai iyue understand why this woman was carrying such a big bag of supplies. It was because of the children staying in the city hospital. Her eyes softened as she asked, "Do you have newborns included in the list of survivors?"
"Yes." Speaking about the newborns, Shen Zhen beca listless again. The children were too young and the virus in the air was too strong; even though they were kept in a completely sterile room, no one knew what the situation was at the mont.
With so many survivors wanting to break into the incubator room because of the number of zombies increasing with each passing second, the lives of those children were in danger.
"Then are you going back in the sa manner?" Bai iyue asked with a raise of her eyebrows. "Don't take it personally but the sun is about to set and the zombies will only get more active from here on out. Do you think you can climb up the pipe and sneak inside the room without being caught in the middle?"
"Just look at what happened a few minutes ago; you were blocked by zombies and couldn't move. If not for and the team, then you would be killed and buried in the many moving corpses by now. Forget about it; I will take you with ." Bai iyue shook her head and refused the notion of letting Shen Zhen go alone.
Even though she knew that this woman would be fine, Bai iyue wanted to keep an eye on Shen Zhen lest the woman escape sowhere once again. After all, Shen Zhen was not soone who could be restrained and she was quite stubborn when it ca to looking for her sisters.
But Bai iyue needed her to stay by her side until she gave birth safely. Thus, she could only follow Shen Zhen and keep her close.
"Really? Will you really take with you?" Shen Zhen's eyes lit up when she heard Bai iyue's suggestion. She had, of course, noticed how skilled Bai iyue and the rest of the mbers of the team were. If these people helped her, then she would be able to arrive at the hospital without any worries.
Shen Zhen felt like a heavy stone had lifted from her shoulders; at least she no longer needed to worry about dying while delivering the supplies to the patients. They finally had hope!
Though Shen Zhen ca outside, she ca with the ntality of do or die. At first she was hopeful but after she got trapped in the mall, Shen Zhen finally realized that the situation was not as simple as she thought. The zombies were slower than normal humans, but they made it up with their number!
With so many zombies, how could they win? Shen Zhen was half certain that they were going to either die or remain trapped in the mall for who knows how long?
However, Shen Zhen was still a little worried about Bai iyue. She looked at the woman who was standing in front of her and then lowered her gaze before locking eyes on Bai iyue's lower abdon.
She asked, "Will you be fine? With your condition —"
"I am fine," Bai iyue interrupted Shen Zhen because she noticed Lu Yin staring at her with an inconspicuous expression. "My condition is fine. Though my period stopped, they started again after a while."
She knew what kind of intentions Lu Yin had towards Lei Qian; she could absolutely not let this woman know about her son or else Lu Yin might try to hurt her son!
