Lei Qian burned the corpses of zombies as he continued to lead the team upstairs. Bai iyue's water serpent didn't need to use the stairs; thus, neither of them intervened with one another and each one of them collected the nuclei on their own.
Suddenly, the hunt turned into a two-man show. With Bai iyue and Lei Qian taking care of the zombies, the rest of the team had nothing to do; they simply watched Lei Qian clean up the zombies without even getting a chance to raise the weapons in their hands.
ng Suisui and ng Qibao looked at one another. Now that they had learned the miraculous effects of the crystal nuclei, they wanted to get so for themselves but after seeing how skilled Lei Qian was when he was dealing with the zombies, they had no idea what to do anymore.
Fortunately, just as they were wondering how to get their hands on more crystal nuclei, the team reached the third floor. Seeing this the rest of the team scattered all over the floor and rushed towards the zombies that staggered in and out of the various departnts that were scattered on the third floor.
ng Qibao was filled with glee when he hunted down more than three zombies.
In the past, he was terrified of the notion of killing zombies but now, when he chopped down the heads of these monsters, ng Qibao was filled with thrill. He raised the dagger in his hands and slamd it right into the forehead of the zombie that was trying to take a bite of his neck.
His strength had gotten better and he could now break open the skulls of these zombies without putting in an extra effort.
"Watch out!"
However, just when he was busy getting the crystal nuclei out of the head of the zombie, ng Qibao felt soone hold his waist and pull him back. Startled, he raised his head. He was about to scold the person who had pulled him away so rudely but then his gaze fell on the handso face of Bai Jixuan.
"Are you okay?" Bai Jixuan breathed heavily as sweat trickled down his face. "Be careful when you are collecting the nuclei. You might not even notice it and these zombies might attack you from behind."
Just now Bai Jixuan saw a zombie creeping right behind ng Qibao. If not for the fact that he didn't pull him away on ti, the man would have been bitten by that zombie.
"I–I understand," ng Qibao felt his heart feeling a bit flustered. He blinked his eyes and tried to push the man away as Bai Jixuan's warmth was seeping within his clothes and making him feel weird. It was a rather subtle emotion that ng Qibao didn't quite catch.
Bai Jixuan noticed that the man in his arms was trying hard to get down from his arm and let him go. He didn't think too much, as Bai Jixuan knew that if he was in ng Qibao's position, he would have done the sa thing. Such a big man, how could he allow soone to carry him?
But ng Qibao—this man was way too thin, wasn't he?
Bai Jixuan looked down at the man whose face was burning red with embarrassnt and then walked away. Since ng Qibao was embarrassed, there was no need for him to stay with him and make the man even more ashad.
ng Qibao, on the other hand, patted his cheeks harshly and woke himself up. What was he doing? This was not the ti to think of such things and why was his heart beating for a man?
Argh!!!!
Annoyed and angry with himself, ng Qibao rushed to kill zombies. He didn't even notice the small scratch on his neck because of his tangled emotions.
Bai iyue and Lei Qian cleared up the zombies on the stairs and everyone rushed up to the third floor. Just like the second floor, the third floor was filled with countless zombies. To make things worse, this floor actually had a mortuary, which resulted in two mutated zombies.
When the system detected the presence of the two one-level zombies, Bai iyue didn't think twice and rushed towards them; she even summoned the water serpent upstairs. But just as the water serpent left the second floor, the zombies that were not killed by him rushed upstairs after sensing the sll of blood and flesh.
While Bai iyue was busy dealing with the one-level zombies along with Lei Qian, Zhou Hongbei and the rest had to take care of the zombies that were not dealt with.
ng Qibao, ng Suisui, Jiang Haidai and Shen Zhen tried to block the zombies from reaching the children while Zhou Hongbei, Director Feng and Wang Ba killed the zombies.
Their speed was not as slow as in the past, with Director Feng and Wang Ba dealing with the majority of the zombies; Zhou Hongbei only needed to take care of one or two zombies, which was within his capability.
As for Lu Yin, she wanted to chase after Lei Qian but she was scolded by Dacheng last night. He told her to show so grace as a woman and could only kill the zombies alongside the others. Of course, her speed was not slow. She might be a dumb woman in love but she also wanted to get her hands on the crystal nuclei.
Those nuclei were her only chance of getting close to Lei Qian. If only she could awaken as a strong ability user, then Lei Qian would certainly pay more attention to her.
Dacheng, who stood next to Lu Yin, had no such qualms. He was busy killing zombies swiftly and with precise aim. After seeing Bai iyue's skill, he was dying to reach her level. If not for the fact that he was determined to follow Lei Qian, Dacheng knew that with his skills he could easily live a comfortable life.
But that was not what he wanted to do!
