"We will discuss this matter later on," said Bai iyue as she stepped inside the penthouse. When she walked inside, Bai iyue sensed that there was sothing wrong. She frowned and turned to look at her mother, who was sitting on the couch with red eyes. Next to her sat a pregnant woman who was wiping her eyes as well.
Seeing the sight in front of her, Bai iyue asked, "What's going on?"
When Mother Bai heard her daughter's voice, she raised her head and said to her, "It's nothing; Little Yang was telling about the place she was staying." As her mother spoke, her eyes turned even redder, and she continued, "Can you believe that there are people who are abandoning their elders, weak and disabled?"
Bai iyue could. She had seen the worst of the people in her past life. So how could she not believe that there were families who were abandoning their loved ones?
Mother Bai didn't need an answer as she spoke, "Little Yang told that there was an old woman who was so hungry that she ate the pills in the store where they were hiding and died because the dicines didn't support her. How can there be people so cruel as this? How could they leave their mother and father behind like this?"
"There was even a pregnant woman who suffered from excessive bleeding when she gave birth. And her husband took the child with him and left the woman to die."
The more Mother Bai spoke, the angrier she beca. She hoped that she could go ahead and slap these people in the face.
Bai iyue looked at the angry face of her mother and said to her, "Mom, don't get angry. I will think of a way to bring these people so supplies; though I cannot save them, I can help them sustain themselves for a bit longer until they are accepted by the base."
If her mother was not allowed to do sothing for these people, she was worried that her mother would be really unhappy.
After all, her mother had a soft heart, even if her tongue was sharp.
Thus, even if Bai iyue didn't care about these elderly, she was willing to help them a little.
It wasn't that she was stone-cold. It was just that she had seen many things in her previous life.
She even saw parents selling their children to perverts for the sake of getting a few bites of food. There were husbands who would sell their wives for the sake of buying so rice, and there were mothers who would push their daughters into serving n because they wanted to get so supplies.
The apocalypse brought the worst side of humans to the surface, and it was so terrifying that even Bai iyue felt disgusted when she saw it the first ti.
When Mother Bai heard the words of her daughter, her eyes lit up. That's right, she could help those elderly even if their family didn't want to. With sothing to do, Mother Bai stopped making a fuss.
Bai iyue turned to look at the woman and questioned, "Are you Yang Wei's wife?"
Sister Yang nodded and replied, "That's right. I am sorry to trouble you all." As she spoke, she smiled at Bai iyue shyly. She had heard Yang Wei say that Bai iyue was the only one who could control these people; thus, she needed to be really careful with her and never do anything to anger her.
Thus, even though Sister Yang was a little naive, she was smart enough to make sure not to cross Bai iyue.
Bai iyue arched her brow when she saw the woman smiling at her with a hint of flattery, and knew that it must be Yang Wei who asked to be polite to her. Of course, it didn't matter to Bai iyue; if the woman wanted to be restrained, then it was to her. She asked, "How many months has it been?"
"It has been about eight and a half months," replied the woman with a hint of a smile on her face when she saw that Bai iyue was willing to talk to her. She said to her, "How about you? How many months has it been for you?"
"About four months," replied Bai iyue.
Sister Yang nodded. Her eyes softened as she caressed her belly and then said to Bai iyue, "You should cherish these days. Look at ; I am going to give birth in a few months, and it feels like it has been just a few days since I conceived this child."
After she finished speaking, her face turned sad, and she stated, "I wonder how this child will survive. Even though I have tried my best to raise it, I wonder if it will be able to grow up safely in a world like this."
"I have no idea how to raise this child in this world."
She then turned to look around and saw the green vegetables and the chickens clucking in the coop that was not far from where she was sitting and sighed enviously, "You all really have it nice here. It feels like I am sitting in heaven."
"You are exaggerating," said Bai iyue with a smile. "It's not worth comparing to heaven."
"In tis like these, the one thing that I want is nothing more than peace. As long as you have it, you will have everything."
Bai iyue didn't know what to say. She simply said a few casual words and then turned to walk towards her room; she needed so rest to ease her tensed nerves, as she had been walking and using her spiritual energy for more than twelve hours.
When she arrived at the bedroom, she realised that Lei Qian had followed her. She turned to look at him and asked, "What's going on? Why are you following ?"
"I saw that you sleep rather calmly when I am near you. Don't worry, I will not do anything and simply hold you to sleep."
When Bai iyue heard his response, she narrowed her eyes. What was this? The tiger was saying that he was going to give up at?
