Bai iyue narrowed her eyes when she looked at the man before saying to him, "You can go. I am tired of seeing your face all day." She really couldn't sleep with this man watching over her.
"But–"
She didn't let the man say anything, nor did she have any interest in listening to him. Bai iyue walked inside the room and closed the door behind her. Once she was back in her sanctuary, she raised her hands over her head and let out a yawn. After running around left and right for so long, she was really tired.
Now all she wanted was to take a bath and then go to bed.
That was indeed the plan, but as Bai iyue finished with her bath and lay back down on the bed, she realised that her sleepiness had vanished. Her son, who was originally calm and quiet, suddenly beca active, making it difficult for Bai iyue to sleep.
She looked down at her swollen belly and said, "Are you really going to make things difficult for your mother because your father is not here?"
In response, the naughty kid actually kicked her!
Bai iyue was so amused that she laughed. This little one really knew how to cause trouble for her. Seeing that her son was not calming down, she had no other choice but to turn her head and look behind her. She didn't even look for Lei Qian carefully and said, "Co and sleep in the bed; your son misses you too much."
She had hardly finished speaking and turned around when the bed dipped and a warm body was pressed against her. Bai iyue sighed but didn't push the man away when he reached out and placed his hand on her pregnant belly. Instead, she closed her eyes and let her body relax.
Soon, Bai iyue felt that her eyelids had started to get heavier, and she ended up falling asleep.
"ARGHHH!!"
The next morning, Bai iyue was jolted awake when she heard soone scream. She sat up straight and looked around, only to find Lei Qian standing in front of the window of her room. "What happened?" She asked.
"It's nothing," replied Lei Qian with a sombre expression. "The people from the tiger gang attacked the survivors in our complex."
"I think a few people were killed in the attack."
When Bai iyue heard that the people from the tiger gang were here to cause trouble, all her sleepiness vanished. She frowned and got to her feet before walking over to the balcony where Lei Qian was standing. She looked down on the street, and sure enough, she saw a few people lying on the street; from the looks of it, they seed to be bleeding, and there were so who were not moving altogether.
Now, Bai iyue was not the kind of person who would be affected by the death of these survivors; she didn't like the fact that they were killed because of her.
A frown settled between Bai iyue's eyebrows, and she said to Lei Qian, "Those guards didn't stop them?"
"Them?" Lei Qian scoffed. He looked down on people who would take advantage of the situation and leave those who were in trouble behind. He said to Bai iyue, "Why would they help these people? These survivors bring them no benefit, but the leader of the tiger gang is different. I heard that he awakened as an ability user and now he could use so special skills. So, of course, they would stand by the side of the man who could pay them with so nice and hefty supplies."
Boss Du was an ability user. As far as Lei Qian knew, Boss Du had awakened as a vine user. No one knew how many people that man had killed in the past few months.
When Bai iyue heard that Boss Du had also awakened as an ability user, she was really disgusted by the twist of fate. That had never done anything good, and yet he was able to awaken as an ability user while innocent people like the survivors, who had done nothing wrong and were just trying to find a way to survive, were killed by him.
"I bet they will start looking for the bandits now that they are gone," said Bai iyue as she more or less understood the way the thinking of people like Yu Miaomiao worked. Now that the storm had passed, they would pretend to hand out umbrellas to those who had already lost everything.
Lei Qian humd. "You are right. They have already started looking and announced that they would hand out a few food supplies to those who lost their family mbers." Anyway, conditions in the apocalypse were not fit for human survival. It was all about the survival of the fittest. Though the family mbers of those who died must be upset with what happened, they needed to think things through practically.
Those who have died would not return, and with the world turning upside down, what was the point of crying for justice? This world was now completely ruined; humanity had shattered and fallen to the lowest point.
There was no law; there was only the law of the jungle applicable in the current situation.
So even if they asked for justice, these people knew that they would not be able to get it.
Since that was the case, why not use this opportunity for their own benefit and survival? Lei Qian knew that it was harsh, but that was just how this world was going to work.
He then turned to look at Bai iyue and said to her, "This will not be the last ti they will attack the complex. Since their boss has given them orders, they will certainly attack again in a few days. Should we think of a way to move from here sooner?"
"There is no need," Bai iyue said, her eyes flashing with murderous intent as she said to the man, "I will take care of this."
Hiding was never an option.
