While Bai iyue and Lei Qian had co up with the decision to kill Yu Miaomiao, the rest of the survivors were also furious. They got these little supplies to begin with after killing hundreds and thousands of zombies. If they had to share even those little supplies, then how would they survive?
This was no different than killing them!
"How are we going to live like this?"
"This is too much! Are we going to live in the world of tyrants now?"
"Why don’t they go ahead and rob? I only got a few sacks of rice last ti, and they took five bags out of the fifteen bags that I brought back. And that alone caused my family to starve for two tis a day, as we could only eat once. If they start taking half, what will happen to my family? I have more than three branches to take care of!" A burly man exclaid with an angry expression.
"Please calm down," Nurse Lin said, looking at the survivors who were discussing the new rules that Yu Miaomiao had passed down. "You all have received stitches today. If you pull them, it will be twice as problematic."
These people cald down, but their anger towards the new laws didn’t ease. How were they going to survive like this? This was no different from forcing them to live outside. At least with their abilities, they would be able to kill the zombies, but how were they going to survive by handing over more than half of their supplies?
The reason they all ca to this base was that they didn’t want to stay outside. Humans were social creatures, and they couldn’t stay outside among the walking dead. Thus, they ca to the base where a lot of humans were staying together. As they awakened as ability users, they thought that this was their ti to shine.
Who would have thought that all of a sudden, the dynamics of the base would change, and they would be forced to hand over more than half of their supplies? Entering the base looked like a really good option back then, but now it seed like they had made a mistake.
Those who had a family were even more worried. The ability for users who didn’t have a family – they could stay outside, but what about them? How would they survive outside if they were to take their entire family with them? They most certainly could not!
Worry started to shroud the entire base. But there were a few people who were still filled with a sense of triumph at that mont.
"Here, take it and send it to Chief Yu," said Fox. earlier, when he went to the penthouse, he had used his telekinetic ability to steal so of the soil from the greenhouse when no one was paying attention to him.
Wang Ba had relayed the information about the rapid growth of the vegetables in the greenhouse of the Bai family. He told them that even though the Bai family used common seeds, the vegetables would grow really fast.
At first they didn’t want to believe but when they saw the mutated plants, they had to believe Wang Ba’s words. If humans and plants could mutate, how could it be possible that the soil would not mutate? What if the Bai family was really lucky to get their hands on mutated soil?
Then they needed to get their hands on that mutated soil no matter what!
And if they couldn’t, then they needed to replicate the sa properties in the soil that they were using.
Fox ca to the penthouse for two reasons. One, he wanted to make sure that Lei Qian understood that he couldn’t just play like a tyrant all the ti and the second reason was that he wanted to steal the soil from the greenhouse. He had heard a lot praises from Wang Ba, who kept telling him that the vegetables grown by Mother Bai were really good and delicious.
Fox had never heard about Mother Bai’s awakening, which ant that all the properties belonged to the soil that she was using.
If the examination proved that it was due to the soil, then he would make sure that the Bai family dropped their ownership of that greenhouse. After all, this world was no longer the sa. For the survival of the majority of the survivors, they had to make use of force sotis. Humans relied on food and water for survival, and this was no ti to keep the good things to themselves.
Not once did Fox think that there was anything wrong with what he was thinking. They were carrying guns and taking the risks, so there was nothing wrong with letting a small faction suffer. As long as they could save the bigger faction, the deaths and grievances of the small faction didn’t an anything.
In fact, in a way, Fox’s course of action was no different from Bai Xue’s. It was just that compared to Bai Xue, Fox had more power and authority. Thus, he could pull off this strategy better than Bai Xue was able to do it.
What was more, Fox curled his lips.
The child in Bai iyue’s belly was the key to trapping both Bai iyue and Lei Qian. Though the two of them were really strong, he didn’t believe that either Bai iyue or Lei Qian would take the risk to do anything at this point. Because of this very weakness that they had created on their own, they would never dare to escape the safety of the base, and since they dared not escape, they would definitely listen and do the bidding of the base.
This was the one point that he agreed with Yu Miaomiao. Only fools would allow such a weakness to appear at tis like this.
On the other side,
Lu Yu, who heard about the visit of his sister, pursed his lips in a helpless smile.
