What was the leader of the number one base doing? Bai iyue couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw him covering his eyes and looking sideways. Was this that hard to look at?
Wasn’t he the kind of person who would burn soone alive without batting an eye? How co he was suddenly making such a dreadful face, as if he were watching Bai iyue slit her wrist and pour a bowl of blood out?
Lei Qian still had his eyes covered. He didn’t look at Bai iyue or the syringe before saying to her, "I am not scared. I am just afraid to see you getting hurt—even though the prick of the needle won’t hurt that much, it will still hurt, will it not? I cannot bear the sight of it."
When Bai iyue heard his words, she rolled her eyes, thinking that the man was being too dramatic, but at the sa ti, she felt a bit sweet in her heart. She had to admit that the thought of soone caring so much for her made her feel giddy.

"Nonsense." Bai iyue rolled her eyes. She was saving that old hen for the day she was going to go into labour. How could she allow Lei Qian to touch that old hen? She rolled her eyes and then said to Lei Qian, "How can you kill an old hen just because I lost a bit of my blood, Master Lei? Compared to this, I will need that old hen much more when I go into labour. Do you even know that when a woman goes into labour, blood will flow like a tap running?"
After she finished speaking, Bai iyue followed Nurse Lin to get her ultrasound done.
On the other hand, Lei Qian, who heard her words, was simply stupefied. He imagined the sight of Bai iyue lying in the hospital bed with blood dripping down her legs and shuddered. He just couldn’t imagine the very thought of Bai iyue lying in the pool of her own blood.
Lei Qian wanted to chase after Bai iyue and ask her what she ant by saying that her blood would flow like water running out of a tap. However, nurse Lin returned and asked him to draw his blood.
Bai iyue arrived at the ultrasound room and lay down on the bed while silently watching one of the nurses applying gel on her belly. While the nurse was busy rubbing the gel on Bai iyue’s skin, Lei Qian finished drawing the blood and rushed inside the ultrasound room. He wanted to ask Bai iyue what she ant by blood running out like water coming out of a tap.
However, when he saw that she was busy, he stopped himself just in ti and sat down on the stool next to her.
The nurse placed the instrunt on Bai iyue’s belly and started to move it around.
Lei Qian, who was sitting next to Bai iyue, stared at the screen as he was trying to get rid of his terrifying thoughts. He wanted to ask Bai iyue what she ant and whether she was just teasing him, but given the situation, he could only purse his lips and watch the screen.
Soon, he noticed the shape of a tiny human baby. The grey and white colour screen showed the baby who was growing safely within Bai iyue’s belly.
"That – that..." Lei Qian suddenly couldn’t say anything. Even though his mind could register the sight in front of him, he couldn’t bring any words to his mouth. It wasn’t that the man was not touched by the sight in front of him; he just had no words to speak at the mont.
The nurse glanced at him and didn’t take his loss of speech seriously. As a nurse, she had seen many n go speechless when they saw their child for the first ti, especially those who cared for their wives. And given how much Lei Qian cared for Bai iyue, it was not a surprise that the man was reacting in such a manner.
She indifferently said to him, "That’s your son."
"My...my son..." Lei Qian stared at the small child that was growing in Bai iyue’s belly and suddenly felt an urge to burst into tears. It wasn’t that he didn’t know that he was going to beco a father; he did know it, but knowing it and seeing his child in front of him were different.
He looked at Xiao Cai, who was still growing and was still small and then turned to look at Bai iyue before saying to her, "That’s our son... our son... Yueyue."
Bai iyue smiled upon hearing his words. That’s right, this was their son. She glanced at the starry-eyed Lei Qian, and sowhere the weight that was pressing in the back of her mind softly landed with a thud. It seed like she was worried for nothing. Lei Qian would certainly treat her son and her better than she expected him to.
"Here, see this?" Seeing that the two of them were lost in their own world, the nurse started to speak in a low voice, "These are the hands of your son. The feet and the head are developing really well. It seems like the worries of your mother can be eased, Master Lei. Your son is perfectly alright and without any abnormalities."
Lei Qian nodded as he listened to the words of the nurse.
He asked the nurse, "Can I take a picture of my son?"
"Yes, you can," replied the nurse as she quickly printed a grainy picture of the baby. Lei Qian looked at the small picture and sighed, what a pity if only the devices were a bit better than he would have gotten a better image of his son.
