Screams erupted all over the base. The swarm of flesh-eating bugs was like a storm that seed to have taken over. Everyone who was outside was affected; from the guards to the common survivors who couldn’t find a place to stay because they didn’t have enough crystal nuclei, everyone was razed until only bones were left behind.
Bai iyue closed her eyes as she listened to the cries of horror. She could sll the scent of blood getting thicker with each passing second, and she knew that this was only going to agitate the flesh-eating bugs even further. Her guess was spot on as the bugs started to attack the humans even fiercely.
The ability users were sent to deal with the swarm, but none of them could hold these flesh-eating bugs back and lost their lives in the hands of the flesh-eating bugs. By the ti the higher officials realised that these bugs couldn’t be controlled, more than fifteen ability users had lost their lives.
While Yu Miaomiao and the others were suffering because of the flesh-eating bugs, Bai iyue and the rest of the team were also preparing to face these disgusting bugs.
"They are coming! They are really here!" Xiao Wu, who was wearing a special suit that protected him from the flesh-eating bugs, courtesy of Bai iyue, rushed upstairs.
"It’s coming! The wave is coming!"
Bai iyue listened to Xiao Wu’s warning and stepped backwards. She looked at the swarm that was entering their corridor and raised her hand. Thin and piercing icicles popped from all over the walls and floor, directly cutting and piercing through the flesh-eating bugs. These bugs looked like a mixture of cockroaches and warts, which made them look even more disgusting and sent shivers down the spines of many of the won who were standing behind Bai iyue.
Even Mother Bai didn’t look good; after taking a good look at the flesh-eating bugs, she knew that they were disgusting, but she never knew that they would be this horrible.
The flesh-eating bugs were dealt with by Bai iyue in a matter of a few minutes, and alongside her, the bushes that she had exchanged through the barter system also did their thing. They cleared up the flesh-eating bugs in a matter of a few seconds. Their actions were swift and concise, leaving no one to even gasp at what happened.
"This is horrible. This is really horrible."
Yang Chunhua gasped as she peered down at the streets; she could see a child trying to hide from these flesh-eating bugs, even when they were gnawing on his flesh from the inside. She could see many small bumps on the legs of the child, and it made sothing crawl inside of her. She turned to look at Mo He and said to him, "It’s a good thing that we didn’t go outside today to exchange the supplies for crystal nuclei, or else we would have been killed as well."
Mo He, who was usually chatty and smiling, also had a sombre expression today as he stared at the sight in front of him. These bugs had even shaken him, and he had no idea what to do anymore. The heavens seed to be going against them and wished to take them down in one big swoop.
What would they do when even the immortals wanted them to die?
"What are you looking at?" said Bai iyue. Her voice broke the silence that was stretching over the people behind her. She said to them, "Go and collect the dead bugs. Just like the mutated zombies, they also have crystal nuclei in their heads and can be used for collecting and buying supplies."
"Alright!"
The first ones to react were the Bai brothers, as they had seen Bai iyue collect the crystal nuclei from the bugs. They stepped forward and then started collecting the bugs that were sticking through the end of the icicles, and then started popping their heads to collect the crystal nuclei.
Though the entire process was a bit disgusting, the sight of those red crystal nuclei chard others very soon, and they started to collect the crystal nuclei. If the heavens had truly abandoned them, then they would have never given Bai iyue a barter system that could help Bai iyue in getting everything that was incompatible with what they were facing at the mont.
After all, without the barter system, she would have never gotten her hands on these bushes that could clean up these flesh-eating bugs in a matter of a few seconds.
Wan Guofu and the rest were already good at digging the crystal nuclei after handling a bunch of zombies. Thus, they collected quite a lot of crystal nuclei. They were not as nauseous as the newly awakened ability users, who were having a hard ti while cutting a small circle in the head of the mutated bugs and then collecting the crystal nuclei.
"Keep moving," barked Liu i as she looked at the won who were acting all jumpy and whiny at the sight of the mutated bugs. "Do you not want to survive or what? Just keep on moving!"
Only then did the won start moving. Even though they were slow at least they were moving.
