A well-dressed Marleyan noble encountered the desperate Newt in the Liberio internnt zone. Unlike other Marleyans who were full of disgust toward Eldians, this noble was gentle and friendly. After learning about Newt's situation, the Marleyan noble nad Ebson extended a helping hand to him.
Anna was sent by Ebson to a hospital funded by his family, where they just happened to be developing a special dicine targeting the tumor inside Anna's body.
However, the price of that dicine was staggering—perhaps just a single pill from one bottle could bankrupt Newt. Yet Ebson didn't take a single cent from him. Such generosity instead left Newt deeply uneasy.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. Soon enough, Ebson revealed his true intentions. He introduced and recomnded Newt to participate in one of his secret experints, tempting him by saying he would gain imnse power, never have to worry about his body again, imdiately obtain a strong physique, and even live a life more privileged than those honorary Marleyans.
Newt didn't think too much about it. But for the sake of Anna lying on the hospital bed, he agreed to Ebson without any hesitation.
And so, Newt beca the Crimson Fla Titan. But not long after, sothing happened to Anna. When Newt saw her again, she was emaciated beyond recognition, almost no longer looking human.
Newt could hardly believe his eyes, because Ebson had always told him Anna's condition was stable, that she only needed to continue taking the dicine. To help her recover better, he even said he had sent her to the pharmaceutical center established by the Louis family in the Far East.
And Newt had agreed. From then on, he could only keep in contact with Anna through letters. In those letters, "Anna" always said her body was recovering well, urging Newt to listen to Doctor Ebson, and that she still couldn't do without the special dicine.
But the Anna before his eyes was gaunt, her hair dry and dull, her pupils cloudy—barely clinging to her last breath.
At the brink of death, Anna threw herself into Newt's arms.
"Newt, being able to see you again… I have no regrets."
At the final mont, Anna told Newt all the truth. Ebson had never sent her to the Far East. Instead, he had sent her to a secret underground laboratory, where many Eldians were imprisoned—old people, won, and children.
These people were all relatives of mbers of an organization called the Eldian Restorationists. There, Anna witnessed countless scenes of cruelty and bloodshed. Ebson, dressed in a white coat, had a crazed look in his eyes. Amid the desperate cries of several mothers, he drained the blood of children alive, and injected unknown liquids into others. Those children scread as flas ignited within their bodies, burning them into charred corpses.
As for Anna, Ebson had practically forgotten whether she lived or died. He forcibly kept her alive with daily doses of antibiotics, and even arranged for people to imitate her handwriting and tone to write letters to deceive Newt.
Anna's condition deteriorated rapidly in a short ti. Originally, she thought she would die in that sunless laboratory. But then one day, a strange red-eyed Titan suddenly tore open the laboratory gates. The guards Ebson had left behind were slaughtered, and mbers of the Eldian Restorationists ca to rescue their families.
After wiping out the enemies, that Titan collapsed. A young man in a trench coat erged from the nape, covering their escape and arranging for them to be sent to the Eldians' holand overseas—Paradise Island.
But knowing her ti was running out, Anna begged the young Marleyan Volunteer Army leader nad Wick. After much pleading, Wick took the risk and sent Anna back to the Liberio internnt zone.
And so, Anna t Newt one last ti.
When Anna stopped breathing in his arms, Newt completely broke down. An indescribable grief and fury surged within him. He wanted to burn Ebson to ashes—make him pay with his life for Anna!
But achieving that was easier said than done. After personally burying Anna, before Newt could take any action, he was forcibly drafted into the Marleyan Warrior Unit and sent to participate in the war between Marley and the Middle Easterners.
Along the way, he saw another artificial Titan created by Ebson: the Sea-Diving Titan—Airi. As ti passed, more artificial Titans were created. Newt realized that relying solely on his Crimson Fla Titan, he might have no chance at revenge.
What angered Newt the most was that although he had personally buried Anna, every month he still received a letter claiming to be from her, urging him to obey Ebson's orders.
When he t Ebson again and saw several artificial Titans present, Newt knew his Crimson Fla Titan had no chance to act. So he clenched his teeth and asked about Anna's condition. When he saw Ebson shalessly claim that Anna was doing very well, Newt's clenched fists dug so deep that his nails pierced his palms.
Driven by extre rage, after learning of Ebson's plans, Newt decisively betrayed him to Marley. He had to make Ebson die! Since his own strength wasn't enough, he would drag the Marleyan Warrior Unit into it as well.
...
This was Newt's story. After hearing it, Willy and Magath both fell into silence, contemplating the credibility of Newt's words.
After a long while, Willy spoke:
"Mr. Newt, do you an that all the other artificial Titan warriors obey Ebson Louis's commands?"
Newt remained expressionless.
"Except for the Claw Titan—Ebson thinks it's too weak and uncontrollable. The rest—the Fortress Titan Bazel, the Airwing Titan Litt, the Paladin Titan Ivanor, and the Sea-Diving Titan Airi—all have clearly stated they will obey Ebson's orders."
"Is that so? Then we'll need to plan carefully. Mr. Newt, I must say, we are very grateful for your help. Your family also deserves the status of honorary Marleyans for life."
Willy stood up and extended his hand.
But Newt only glanced at him coldly and said without expression:
"I have no family left. And I don't care about any honorary Marleyan status. I have only one request—I want to burn Ebson to ashes!"
Willy smiled faintly, withdrawing his hand without any awkwardness.
"Of course. We will not allow anyone who betrays or harms Marley to continue living freely."
After seeing Newt off, Willy turned to Magath and said:
"Commander Magath. There are so things we should discuss."
