Now reading: Chapter 31 31: First Holiday and First Action [FİXED] from Avatar: Fire Emperor, a Action novel by bendebirilkivar.

Today, Kahn finally had his first short break since starting at the academy.

He could finally get away from those little brats, and his mood was excellent.

This holiday was held to celebrate the founding of the Fire Nation.

The chosen date was not the actual founding day, but the birthday of the first Fire Lord.

It lasted for three days, and even the troops on the front lines would temporarily rest for one day.

Incidentally, halfway through the term, they had received a new firebending teacher.

It was said that the previous teacher had suddenly chosen to enlist in the army and serve the nation.

He had even requested to be transferred to the most dangerous front lines.

Such fearless devotion had prompted the academy leadership to hold a special lecture.

They declared that all students should actively learn from his spirit.

However, no one listened.

Aside from Kahn, most of the students were children of high-ranking officials and nobles.

Even if they joined the army in the future, they would only be stationed in the safest places.

Only a fool would volunteer for the front lines and throw his life away.

Kahn could only wish the man good luck.

On the eve of the holiday, most of his classmates were discussing where their parents would take them for vacation.

They fantasized about having a wonderful holiday, as if the war did not exist at all.

A century of war had already made people accustod to this way of life.

Moreover, the war had never reached the Fire Nation holand.

To the children of the Fire Nation, this world could not have seed more peaceful or beautiful.

However, none of that had anything to do with Kahn.

During this holiday, he could only obediently stay at ho and practice his firebending.

He was still too weak and lacked any real sense of security.

More importantly, Fire Lord Ozai was still watching him.

Just thinking about it gave him nightmares.

Perhaps only when he possessed the strength to kick Ozai aside and punch Iroh down could he truly be considered safe.

In a world like this, strength was the greatest guarantee.

On the day of the festival, a grand morial ceremony was held in the Capital.

Although Iroh had essentially been sidelined, he was still a mber of the Royal Family.

He went to pay respects to the ancestors with Zuko and Azula.

That left Kahn alone to relax for the day.

Objectively speaking, the war had accelerated technological developnt, especially within the Fire Nation.

Throughout this long global conflict, the Fire Nation had grown stronger and wealthier with every battle.

Those conditions were clearly reflected in the celebration.

Its grand scale even astonished Kahn, a transmigrator from another world.

The next day, Iroh continued heading to the war chambers, just as he had been doing ever since the offensive began.

He no longer openly opposed Ozai or clashed with him as he had before.

Instead, he silently stood behind the others, observing without voicing any opinions.

He acted like a re bystander watching the spectacle, as if he had completely given up resisting Ozai.

However, based on Kahn's observations, Iroh's occasional contemplation and unusual behavior at ho told a different story.

All of it indicated that the Dragon of the West was not as simple as he appeared on the surface.

Kahn did not ask too many questions.

The problems pondered by soone of Iroh's caliber were probably not things a small nobody like him could interfere with.

Besides, he already had enough troubles of his own.

Zuko was still very busy, because he had many lessons to master.

His tutors held him to strict standards, and he was often scolded by Ozai.

It made his life rather difficult.

Most importantly, Zuko honestly accepted Ozai's arrangents.

He was nothing like Azula, who looked for loopholes everywhere.

She would even threaten and intimidate her teachers, behaving recklessly and lawlessly.

Kahn almost wanted to speak up for Zuko.

Why was it always the good person who got bullied?

Just like this ti, Kahn went to the palace to play with Azula and Zuko.

However, not long after he arrived, Zuko was called away to study again.

That left only him and Azula.

Kahn could not help complaining.

"Do you have to take lessons even during the holiday?"

"That's terrifying!"

"No."

"He just didn't finish his assignnts on ti, so he has to make them up."

Azula spoke with a gloating smirk.

"…"

Kahn was speechless.

So, Zuko, you little brat, you simply weren't working hard enough!

"Don't mind him."

"The real show is only just beginning."

"What?"

Kahn was a little confused.

Azula stood from the lawn and stretched.

Then she turned toward him and spoke.

"Ti to work."

"This ti, we're looking for clues about my mother's disappearance."

"Huh?!"

Kahn froze for a mont.

"This is way too sudden."

"Why didn't you tell in advance?"

Azula blinked and put on an innocent expression.

"Because I wanted to give you a surprise."

"Aren't you touched?"

A surprise?

More like a scare!

However, Kahn already understood the answer in his heart.

Azula probably still did not fully trust him.

She was afraid he would go back on his word, so she dragged him into it this way.

An ordinary child would never be this calculating.

But if it was Azula, it made perfect sense.

Kahn said helplessly, "I won't go back on my word."

"So next ti, if there's sothing like this, rember to tell in advance so I can prepare."

Hearing him say that, Azula's expression softened slightly.

Then she quickly recovered, spread her hands, and spoke indifferently.

"If you insist, then fine."

After that, she returned to the main topic.

"So, what do we do now?"

"Follow ."

The two began to move.

Azula's target was Lady Ursa's courtyard.

Ever since her disappearance, the place had been guarded.

Azula believed there might still be clues left inside.

At this ti, Ozai was in the council hall, and Zuko had been sent away.

It was the best ti to act.

Kahn followed Azula, moving along the walls.

They leaped between the palace rooftops and passed over the guards' heads.

Every movent made Kahn's heart race.

This was the Royal Palace!

If they were caught, they would definitely be finished.

This was far too much of a test!

However, the rush of danger did not hinder Kahn's movents.

Instead, it made him even more cautious and precise.

He gradually adapted to the high-stakes environnt.

His stealth skills were clearly improving.

Kahn silently amused himself with that thought.

Although Azula had not told him the plan in advance, she had prepared everything perfectly.

She knew the routes, the patrol patterns, and even the timing of the guard shifts down to the second.

Azula said casually, "I often play gas like this."

What else could he say?

He could only offer her a silent salute of respect.

This child was terrifyingly formidable.

She would surely accomplish great things in the future.

There were two soldiers guarding Ursa's bedroom.

The two children landed lightly on the roof.

Azula whispered to Kahn.

"You take the left."

"I'll take the right."

"…Won't that cause too much commotion?"

"How are you going to explain it afterward?"

Azula sneered.

"As guards, they failed their duty and were knocked unconscious by an intruder."

"They'll be the only unlucky ones."

"As for , don't worry."

"I can handle Father."

Kahn could only offer a mont of silence for the two guards.

He and Azula dropped down at the sa ti.

They easily knocked out the guards and pushed the door open.

The room was large.

They searched separately, one on the left and one on the right.

Kahn silently thought, Pardon the intrusion, and began rummaging through the belongings.

Unexpectedly, he quickly found a letter hidden beneath the desk.

The two of them began examining the envelope.

In an instant, Azula's expression beca unusually grim.
