"Likewise, old man. I missed you too," Varnos turned around, smiled at the old man who had thrown an arm around his shoulder, and said.
"I didn’t expect to see you here," the old man, more precisely, Rivon Maxwell, replied with a smile of his own.
He was an old man with completely white beard and hair, looking exactly like a religious priest. A cultured, respectable man who even wore a white robe.
Varnos’s expression softened a little at the sight of this old friend. Even though this old man looked close to eighty years old, in reality he was the sa age as Varnos himself.
The reason he looked so old was his class, one of his innate abilities, an extrely powerful one that could be used in exchange for lifespan.
Anyway, this man was the leader of the Red Storm Guild, one of the top five guilds in the country. Their signature elent was wind, but not the simple wind elent that mages like Tiana used.
They cultivated the wind elent specifically to achieve the power to create storms, storms capable of destroying mountains, wiping out cities, and even bringing catastrophe to entire countries.
Overall, they possessed extrely high destructive power. The range of their attacks was also massive; even their simplest attacks could cause massive damage across huge areas.
"I didn’t expect to see you here. I thought you probably wouldn’t co because of that incident," Rivon removed his arm from around Varnos’s shoulder and said in a calm tone.
"How could I miss such a good opportunity?" Varnos laughed out loud.
"You’d better not do anything stupid. These Goblin Guild bastards are just waiting for a chance to cause trouble."
"They started it themselves. As long as they don’t do anything, I won’t either," the guild leader nodded and clearly stated his position on not causing trouble.
"It’s hard to trust your words, especially since you’re the one who attacked Alaric," Rivon replied. He didn’t seem to fully believe what Varnos was saying.
Varnos fell silent and didn’t comnt on the matter. Even though this man was one of his good old friends, they had known each other since their academy days, he didn’t want to tell him the truth.
It wasn’t that he didn’t trust him. He just didn’t want Rivon to get dragged into this ss too.
"Anyway, who is this young friend of yours?" The Red Storm Guild leader, seeing that his friend didn’t want to continue that topic, changed the subject and turned his gaze to Daniel.
He had noticed Daniel ever since they arrived, but because no powerful or dangerous aura was coming from him, he had simply assud he was an ordinary servant or companion.
But could an ordinary servant be this handso and carry such an indescribable presence? Rivon doubted it.
Maybe he was his son-in-law?
"Let introduce you to the greatest genius of my guild, Daniel," Varnos smiled again, this ti with clear pride.
"And Daniel, et one of my good friends, Rivon," he added, glancing at the young man beside him.
"Nice to et you," Daniel extended his hand.
"Nice to et you too. But the greatest genius? Doesn’t that title still belong to your eldest daughter?" Rivon extended his hand as well, and they shook.
"Not anymore."
"Lana is one of the most outstanding prodigies of this generation. I can’t even imagine how good this kid must be for you to rank him above her."
"I’m sure if you find out, you might even die from shock," Varnos laughed loudly.
"I doubt it, unless you’ve brought The Fallen himself," Rivon replied with a sarcastic jab.
To his complete surprise, Varnos went silent and stared at him with a strange look. Well... in reality, he really had brought The Fallen to this ceremony.
"Why are you looking at like that, as if this kid is actually him? That’s impossible, right? That guy is at least Rank S. This boy is way too young," Rivon caught the aning behind his friend’s gaze.
But he simply couldn’t believe that Daniel was the famous The Fallen. And since his friend neither confird nor denied it, Rivon realized he probably just didn’t want to answer the question.
"Anyway, while you were comfortably sleeping in prison, so things happened. Have you heard the news?"
"The possible dinsional break of the Apocalypse Dungeon?" Varnos said with a headache already forming.
His friend nodded in confirmation. Varnos had known about it, but because he had been so focused on revenge, he had completely ignored it.
"If that dungeon suffers a dinsional break, another continent might fall too."
"It’s not like we can do anything about it, right? Even the Guardian Council hasn’t been able to do anything regarding that dungeon," Rivon added.
"What are you two talking about?" Daniel interrupted when he heard their vague conversation and asked curiously.
The mont he stepped into this talk, for a brief second he saw fear in the eyes of his guild leader.
And this was the first ti he had ever seen fear in Varnos, which imdiately grabbed his attention.
"Have you ever heard of the Four Horsen of the Apocalypse?" Varnos looked at him and asked.
"Of course. They’re the highest-ranked known dungeons right now, aren’t they?"
"Correct. And one of them exists in our world. Every few years we send teams to clear or explore the entrance areas of that dungeon. Last year, I went there myself."
"No one has ever been able to clear the dungeon because its difficulty is extrely high, almost impossible. And now word has co that the dungeon might suffer a dinsional break, and the monster imprisoned inside it could be released."
"That sounds dangerous," Daniel frowned too. He had heard of the Four Horsen of the Apocalypse and knew how important and dangerous they were.
A dinsional break? That could really cause an entire continent to fall.
"It’s not confird yet, it’s just a possibility. It might not happen. But we have to be prepared for anything. The Guardian Council wants to form a large team to clear that dungeon. We’ll probably be sent too," Rivon added more details.
Both Varnos and Daniel fell silent. They had nothing to say. This was a massive issue, far beyond their current capabilities.
The exact power level of the Horseman wasn’t clearly known, but according to all the investigations and reports, it was at least at the level of a Demi-God. And even the Demi-Gods of this world had serious trouble dealing with it.
They had fought that monster inside the dungeon multiple tis, but every single ti they ca back with severe injuries and absolutely no sign of victory. It was obvious the creature was far beyond their level.
After the last battle and yet another defeat, they made the decision not to challenge that monster again, at least not until they reached a much higher level of power.
They could only wait and see what would happen next.
At the sa ti as their silence, the doors to the hall opened. The hosts of the ceremony, the leader of the Goblin Guild and his brother, finally made their entrance.
Varnos noticed them imdiately. The mont he saw the murderer of the love of his life, he felt his blood boiling. At any second, his thirst for revenge could erupt.
