"Thank you all, our esteed guests, for coming to this small ceremony of ours," Alaric’s voice, the leader of the Goblin Guild, echoed throughout the entire hall.
"Today we have many guests, so from every corner of this country, and others who ca from friendly and neighboring nations."
"Your presence honors . I must also thank you for giving face and being willing to travel all this way to be here."
"I have ordered that our dear guests be treated in the best possible manner, so please enjoy yourselves."
"Today we are all gathered here for one reason: to choose the new successor of the Goblin Guild, a successor for . However, the person for this position is not ready yet."
"I offer my deepest apologies, but you will have to wait just a little longer."
When he finished speaking, a round of applause, cheers, and thanks rose up. Alaric himself, along with his brother Jason, went off to greet the foreign guests.
The rest of the people also moved toward them. It looked like everyone wanted to talk to him, or at least tried very hard to make that happen.
After all, no matter what, he was the leader of the most powerful guild in the country. The influence, power, and resources he controlled were simply unimaginable.
Many of these people knew that under normal circumstances they could never et this man in person, so they figured they should seize the opportunity and at least try to build so kind of connection.
"A bunch of pathetic bootlickers," Varnos muttered coldly as he watched the scene.
"Well, you can’t really bla them. They’re just looking out for their own interests," Rivon added. If he were in their shoes, he would do the exact sa thing.
Daniel ignored their conversation. His eyes were fixed on Jason. He was trying to peer deep into the man’s very existence. From the very beginning, this guy had shown clear hostility toward him.
But he couldn’t figure out why, and the problem was that Jason wasn’t even trying to hide it right now.
’This Goblin Guild leader is powerful. In fact, he’s the strongest Rank S I’ve ever seen,’ Daniel decided to put the Jason issue aside for now and focus on Alaric instead.
A mont later, he frowned. For so reason, every ti he tried to look through this man, an extrely ominous and terrifying feeling washed over him, as if sothing was warning him not to do it.
He even felt his heartbeat speed up because of that horrible sensation.
What the hell was that? He highly doubted this power belonged to the bastard himself. In fact, this feeling was very similar to the power Kaelos had before his death.
It was as if they ca from the sa source... Could it be possible?
"You old n gathered here?" While Varnos and Rivon were still talking, a feminine voice drew their attention.
"Oh, old lady, you’re still alive!" Rivon smiled when he saw the beautiful young woman walking toward them.
A woman with long black hair, stunning features, an attractive body, and eyes... eyes that looked blind?
Her eyes were exactly like those of a blind person, the sa color, the sa lifeless feel.
But how could an Awakened be blind?
"A party full of scum and trash, even invited a murderer," Varnos said sarcastically the mont he saw the woman.
"Hey hey, how dare you insult a goddess as beautiful as ? Besides, you’re here too, so what’s the difference between you and the rest of the scum in this place?" The woman, Mirael, replied with equal sarcasm.
Then her gaze fell on Daniel. As an assassin, her senses and intuition were extrely sharp. She could confidently say they were stronger than anyone else present.
And the mont she laid eyes on this boy, the feeling of death gripped her. Her intuition scread that if she angered this boy, she would definitely die.
But did that even make sense? This kid barely looked twenty years old.
"Who is this?" she asked.
"The treasure of my guild," Varnos said calmly. He knew this woman might notice certain things.
"Nice to et you. I’m Mirael," Mirael extended her hand.
"Nice to et you too. I’m Daniel," Daniel replied and extended his hand as well. They shook.
However, the mont their skin touched, he felt a familiar force trying to enter his body and examine everything.
The force was crushed in an instant, but at least Daniel realized that the law this woman cultivated was the Law of Death. It wasn’t at his level, but it wasn’t weak either.
"This is the first ti I’ve seen another user of the Law of Death besides myself," Mirael said with a seductive smile, clearly having noticed sothing too.
"Likewise."
"So this is fate, isn’t it? Maybe we were destined to et today and get married!" the woman suddenly said in a completely wild and crazy tone.
Rivon’s mouth dropped open in shock, and Varnos gave her a strange look. He knew this woman, the leader of the country’s most powerful assassination organization. She loved to joke, but she never joked about things like this.
This was completely out of character for her.
"Thank you, but I already have soone else in mind for marriage," Daniel rejected the tempting offer with a smile.
"What a sha," Mirael sighed and pulled her hand back.
"You finally get proposed to once in your life and you turn it down," Rivon mocked with a laugh, but a second later he got a hard slap that shut him up instantly.
"Shut up!" the woman snapped angrily, then changed the subject.
"Anyway, Varnos, I was worried about you. Are you okay now? Why did you do that stupid thing?" She shifted her gaze toward him.
"I’m fine. Thank you for worrying," Varnos said it with complete indifference and didn’t give a full answer.
Mirael understood what her friend ant. He wanted her to stay out of this matter. But how could she?
Varnos’s wife had been like a real sister to her, and she saw Varnos as a brother too. When she heard what this idiot had done, she wanted to rush in and help.
But when she learned the Goblin Guild hadn’t even filed a complaint, she backed off... The reason she hadn’t co to see Varnos sooner... well, their relationship wasn’t exactly great right now.
After Varnos’s wife died, she had blad Varnos himself for her death. They had a huge verbal fight that left a massive crack in their bond.
Since then they hadn’t talked much, and it seed Varnos still wanted to keep that distance and neutrality between them.
She was worried about this bastard, but this bastard still refused to let go of old grudges. She knew she had made a mistake back then.
But at that ti, she had lost soone who was like a real sister to her. Of course, she wasn’t in her right mind, she wasn’t thinking straight and had no idea what she was even saying.
But did he really still need to treat her this way after all this ti?
She grumbled. This idiot could do whatever the hell he wanted, she didn’t care anymore. She turned to leave.
However... the mont she saw Alaric and Jason walking straight toward Varnos and Daniel’s table, her steps suddenly stopped.
