Chapter 124: Shen Lou’s Resentnt
18 years have passed but both are still willing to stay with each other. Not to ntion that Black has resentnt on his body which is clear that there’s still sothing going on in the past that they didn’t resolve. This will surely affect Shen Lou but isn’t that the truth?
"Black is still here because the gate was closed, right? But you already have the key. Can I say goodbye—"
"It’s not enough." Qin An interrupts him. "Black couldn’t be sent to the underworld even if he wants to for now."
"What do you an?" Shen Lou frowns.
"Generally, souls cannot be sent to the underworld not just because they are unwilling but also due to so unfinished business. You may think that Black just needs a proper goodbye from you but no... animals aren’t like that. They generally walked away and left their owners when they saw them safe, just like you are even when he was no longer with you. The reason for why he couldn’t is because of the resentnt."
Qin An faced the young man and didn’t hesitate anymore to tell the truth.
"Black didn’t die because he was just sick, Shen Lou. Resentnt is ford because they want justice for themselves. Do you understand what I ant?" He looked directly into his eyes and saw the young man’s pupils dilated again when he let go of the real truth.
"Black was killed intentionally, Shen Lou."
"!!!" Shen Lou gasped. W-What?!
"If you want Black to leave with peace, the resentnt inside him must be resolved through finding out the real cause of his death. Even if they are animals, they need justice for their deaths like humans."
Shen Lou inhales a sharp breath and feels his hands tremble. A sense of anger and grievance filled his heart.
All this ti, the cat that he always cared for died not because of him but he was killed? Only Shen Lou himself knows how Black’s death was such a blow in his life. He was full of guilt and resentnt towards himself because he couldn’t take care of him well.
If he was just sober enough to not let himself be drawn to the loss, maybe he would have noticed sothing and maybe Black’s death already had justice, right? Instead of staying with him for 18 years, he couldn’t even see him.
Black is very sensitive and cautious because he ca from the streets. He didn’t know the cat’s past experience but he could tell back that he ca from a very distressing journey. It also took him a long ti before the cat completely trusted him which shows the deep trauma it had experienced from others.
And now hearing him suffered before he died and he didn’t even noticed?
Shen Lou clench his fists and vowed to give his cat the late justice he deserved.
"H-How?" He looked at Qin An, his voice crack due to the anger and distress. "How did he die?"
Qin An points at the stomach position of the cat. "The focus of the resentnt ca from here which ant that whatever happened to his stomach had caused him death."
Shen Lou took a deep breath. "Black was not wounded when he died so I just thought it was because he was sick. But if there is no blood or wounds, there is only one thing to consider..." His eyes narrowed sharply. "Poison."
He looked at Black and felt another wave of distress. Black was poisoned intentionally.
He must find the culprit.
"What will happen to the culprit?"
"He or She will be dealt with by the law."
His eyes squinted in displeasure. He rembered that killing an animal doesn’t have deep grounds unlike when the victim is a human. Wasn’t that perpetrator lucky? Going to jail wasn’t enough. That murderer was free for such a long period too.
"You better not do anything." Qin An imdiately warned him. "That may only backlash not just you but will also affect Black."
"But—"
"You are from a military family. You should know the consequences if you keep it further."
Hearing that made Shen Lou grit his teeth but finally didn’t insist. After their conversation, he went directly to Qian Jin and requested an ergency call to contact his family.
After that, Shen Lou finally cald down and suddenly rembered sothing.

It was a very young man who was even younger than him. He was wearing tattered clothes and there was a huge wound on his head. He was so pale and bloody that anyone would probably freak out when they saw him.
What was intriguing was that their faces were slightly similar except that Bai Yue is older. Both have round deer eyes and innocent face but their temperant is very contrasting. If Bai Yue looks very obedient and sweet, the little ghost looks very dull and gloomy.

Now... it’s either Bai Yue was indirectly connected to his death... or he was the direct perpetrator himself.
