Mother Cheng followed the nurse carrying her grandson back to her daughter’s hospital room and saw her son-in-law carefully wiping her daughter’s sweat, which made her heart burst with joy and comfort.
Her daughter gave birth to a son, but he wasn’t anxious to hold him; he was more concerned about his wife, caring for her with tenderness. How could a mother-in-law’s heart not be soothed by this?
Mother Cheng took the baby from the nurse, smiling, and said, "Son-in-law, co and take a look at your son. He weighs six pounds and two ounces, good bones."
Qi Taiguo then turned his gaze towards the baby, seeing Cheng Su asleep, he stood up and took the baby from Mother Cheng.
It was his first ti being a father. Although he had held younger siblings when he was a child, that couldn’t compare to now; the child today is precious, so he felt completely uneasy, awkward, and inexperienced holding him.
Mother Cheng adjusted his posture slightly, making him more comfortable, and Qi Taiguo looked at the child.
His hair was jet-black and thick, his eyebrows were a bit dense too, his eyes were closed, but even his eyelashes were remarkable, long, neither he nor Cheng Su had such long eyelashes. His little nose was straight, and his lips were closed perfectly.
"Broad forehead, a sign of a blessed child," Mother Cheng remarked joyfully.
Qi Taiguo responded with a hum, a slow smile spreading across his face, his eyes filled with tenderness.
This was his son, his beloved Cheng Su’s son, the precious child she bore him.
Starting today, Qi Taiguo was a father, and the responsibilities on his shoulders increased.
"Son, I am your dad."
When Cheng Su was suffering during pregnancy, especially during those soul-crushing monts of morning sickness, Qi Taiguo didn’t rember how many tis he said he’d spank the kid once he ca out for torturing his mother like that.
But now holding his son, he couldn’t bring himself to hurt him; how could he bear to spank him?
Looking at his red, soft little face, Qi Taiguo’s heart lted into a puddle; he had a son!
Watching Qi Taiguo’s red-eyed appearance, Mother Cheng couldn’t help but smile with pride.
Her daughter was capable; she gave birth to a son, solving all future worries. Even if she only bore one, there was no fear; the blessings in the future would be abundant.
A sudden soft murmur, and Mother Cheng noticed Cheng Su frowning and opening her eyes, exclaiming, "Susu, you’re awake?"
Cheng Su felt completely drained, her whole body ached as if she’d been hamred a thousand tis over, sapped of all strength.
"Don’t move, don’t move, you just gave birth; just lie down," Mother Cheng pressed her back down as she attempted to rise, pulling out a thin cap from their luggage to place on her head. "You mustn’t catch a cold."
Cheng Su let her fuss, looking towards Qi Taiguo.
Qi Taiguo was already sitting with the baby, holding him up for her to see, "Susu, look, our son."
His voice was filled with undisguised excitent, slightly choked up.
Cheng Su looked at the closed-eyed baby, so red and wrinkled, scrunching her nose, "He’s so ugly!"
Qi Taiguo’s excitent paused, "Nonsense!"
"Newborns are definitely red; in a couple of days, he’ll start to lighten. I saw when the nurse was bathing him; he’s quite fair," Mother Cheng chuckled, "Babies change every day, I’m sure he’ll grow into a handso little boy."
Since both her mother and husband said so, Cheng Su couldn’t argue, just glanced once more and smiled.
Qi Taiguo placed the baby gently beside her for her to look at, saying, "Wife, thank you, you’ve worked hard!"
Saying that, he kissed her on the lips.
