Cheng Su is the goddaughter of Cheng Yaozu, which makes her family too. Now that she has given birth, even though she is still in confinent, it wouldn’t make sense not to show any gesture of goodwill. So, the Guangcheng Cheng Family sent Cheng Yaozu and Ying Xiaoya, the soon-to-be couple, over to convey their sentint and to see the little grandson.
Qi Jianguo already knew Cheng Yaozu, but Father Qi and the others from the Cheng family did not know them.
Father Cheng and the others knew their daughter had recognized godparents, and upon seeing Cheng Yaozu, who was handso and eloquent, with his engaging deanor and sweet words, calling them ’uncle and auntie’ at every turn, they were delighted.
As they got to know each other, Mother Cheng went to organize the supplents that Cheng Yaozu and the others had brought; it was more than double what Luh Kai had brought, including things like ginseng, which were particularly valuable. She couldn’t help but reflect on her daughter’s good fortune and destiny.
Back in the countryside, having a chicken to eat during childbirth was already considered good, unlike now, where there’s bird’s nest, ginseng, fish maw, and donkey-hide gelatin; there’s simply too much to eat.
Seeing how familiar and affectionate Cheng Yaozu and the others were with Cheng Su, they knew they genuinely treated their daughter as family, making them even happier.
Cheng Yaozu noticed they were taking photos and naturally joined in with a laugh, saying, "We’ve co at the right ti. The old man was delighted to hear you had a son. He intended to co along, but considering you’re in confinent and might be troubled by his visit, we persuaded him otherwise. When you’re out of confinent, and arranging the full moon banquet for your nephew, the old man will co to hold Xiao Qi. For now, take more photos so that he can see."
Cheng Su naturally agreed, changed into another outfit, held the baby, and took family photos; there was even a family portrait for the old man to recognize the family.
With photo after photo, they used up a roll of film quickly. Whether it was Cheng Yaozu or the fathers from the hotown, they wouldn’t stay long and promptly sent the film to the photo studio to be developed quickly, enabling them to take it back when leaving.
After a bout of rrint, Cheng Su, needing rest as the midwife, retired to the room, and Ying Xiaoya followed her in, closing the door for a private talk.
"How are the preparations for the wedding going?" Cheng Su asked while nursing the baby.
"We just finished taking the wedding photos, booked the restaurant, and everything’s being prepared, but the house is still being renovated!" Ying Xiaoya replied.
Upon hearing about the house renovation, Cheng Su asked, "Not moving back to the big house?"
Ying Xiaoya, looking sweet, said, "The house is a gift from the old man, saying it’s for us as newlyweds to spend so ti as a couple, living on our own. We’ll just go back for family als during holidays!"
Cheng Su was pleased to hear this. Young couples should live how they want, and said, "The old man’s considerate; you shouldn’t be proud. Visit often, since he’s getting older, spending ti talking with him is good."
"Got it, I told Cheng Yaozu; on weekends, we’ll go back for als!" Ying Xiaoya said.
Cheng Su nodded, "As long as you know." Pausing, she asked, "Have you two, gotten close?"
"What?" Ying Xiaoya was playing with Qi Xiaoqi’s little hand, not understanding at first; when she realized, she blushed and scolded, "What won’t you ask!"
Cheng Su chuckled slyly, "We’re best friends and won; what’s off-limits to ask?"
Ying Xiaoya glared at her, took a mont, and finally nodded shyly.
