Early in the morning, Cheng Su took her parents-in-law and father to the station. After they got on the bus, she rushed to school, finished her classes, took a quick tour of the restaurant, and remotely managed the affairs of the Joy Soon Loy Jam Factory over the phone.
The weather was getting colder and colder. Once December started, especially after Laba Festival, it officially ca to the year-end. All businesses had to settle accounts and calculate profits. The new house of Cheng Su needed to order furniture and other things, keeping her as busy as a spinning top.
Fortunately, for the new ho’s setup, she had drawn the decoration plans herself. The furniture was all ordered at the furniture factory in one go. They delivered it, and Qi Taiguo simply had to place it.
As for settling business accounts, every business had its accountants. After they calculated everything, Cheng Su would check the accounts herself, distribute the profits to each shareholder, and then finalize the developnt plans for the next year. This way, there was nothing major left, so she could still find ti to play with Xiao Qi every day.
Apart from distributing dividends to her business’s shareholders, Cheng Su also had inco from her investnts. For example, her investnt in Ming Xiaofan’s communications company, within just one year, had yielded a dividend of five thousand. If not for Ming Xiaofan saying they needed to roll over the cash flow for business transfer, she could have earned even more.
Cheng Su knew that to expand a business, cash flow was crucial. She supported Ming Xiaofan’s decision and even said that if more was required, she could forgo her share.
Ming Xiaofan assured her that it was enough and if it wasn’t, she could simply invest more for a larger share of the stock.
Besides Ming Xiaofan, she also received the returns from the investnt she made in Little Yu’s dumpling shop this December.
Coincidentally, Little Yu said this year had been good too. The dumpling shop opened up more sales channels and business was booming. The profits this year were substantial, with plans already in place for expansion; otherwise, the shares could have been even bigger.
However, Cheng Su noticed that Little Yu’s face showed an unusual tension.
"Are you too tired? If you’re tired, hire a couple of people. As the boss, you don’t have to do everything yourself. Just having control of the recipes is more important than anything," Cheng Su advised. "Money is endless, there’s no need to sacrifice your health for it!"
Feeling warm inside, Little Yu replied, "You don’t have to tell . I’ve already hired two helpers. My parents-in-law are getting old and their hands and feet are not so nimble, so I don’t let them help at the shop. I just have them watch over the two little ones at ho. They’ve worked hard for half of their lives, and now that things are improving, they should enjoy life."
That’s true, but if so, why did she still look so unwell?
"It’s because I’m angry," Little Yu sighed.
"What happened?"
Little Yu gave a bitter smile and said, "As the saying goes, ’When poor in a bustling city, no one asks; when rich in the mountains, distant relatives appear.’ I finally understand the aning of this now."
Cheng Su was montarily stunned, then suddenly understood. It was probably about money.
Little Yu didn’t beat around the bush and said, "In the past, when my family struggled, my two sisters-in-law never lent a hand. If not for Taiguo, we won would have been finished long ago." She sighed, "I know they struggled too, with many children to feed, but no matter how hard it was, it couldn’t be harder than being a widow and young orphans, right? They never extended a hand, and even close relatives weren’t as helpful as outsiders. I understand everyone has their difficulties, so I didn’t expect anything. But how can people act this way? Back then they ignored us, but now that we are doing well, they co crying poor, using family ties. How can people’s hearts be so discouraging?"
