Su Yun ignored the woman and focused on her knitting.
She’d heard that Shen Yi really liked the sweater she knitted for him last year. Although it wasn’t cold out yet, he had helped their family so much. Since they didn’t have much money, knitting him a few more sweaters and woolen pants was the least she could do.
The sweater Su Yun was knitting was a slim-fitting n’s style in gray. The journey was simply too tedious, and Li Xiaoi couldn’t resist craning her neck to get a look. "I never would have guessed you were so handy," she said. "Not only can you cook, but you can knit, too. Say, isn’t that pattern a bit too youthful for your husband?"
Su Yun was knitting it for Shen Yi, so of course the pattern was simpler. If it were for Qin Zhonghui, she would have used a traditional cable-knit design.
Li Xiaoi went so far as to climb down from her bunk, craning her neck to study the technique. "I have to learn this," she said. "I’ll knit one for my Xiao Feng when I get the chance."
Li Xiaoi had a ton of flaws, but her devotion to her son was unquestionable. The reason she had sched for so long was for the sake of Chen Feng’s future.
But Su Yun continued to ignore her, focusing solely on her knitting.
Chen Feng turned to look at the pattern on the silver-gray sweater, then turned his head to glance at Qin Jiao, who wasn’t far away.
’Can she knit?’
’A girl as smart as her can probably do anything.’
’Will she knit sweaters for her boyfriend in the future?’
He hadn’t really felt it before, but after breaking up with Lin Nian—and especially after hearing that Qin Jiao was the provincial top scorer—Chen Feng found he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Even though he knew Shen Yi definitely liked Qin Jiao, the two of them weren’t dating, let alone married.
’Doesn’t that an he still has a chance?’
At that thought, Chen Feng’s mood brightened considerably.
When the train finally pulled into the station, passengers grabbed their luggage and began to disembark one after another. Since it was so crowded, Qin Zhonghui reminded his daughters not to wander off, especially since Xiao Shi was still little.
Qin Jiao held Xiao Shi’s hand. "Just stick close to , Xiao Shi. Mom, Dad, you two take your ti as well. We’re not in a hurry, so let’s not push through the crowd with everyone else."
Chen Feng wanted to offer to help Qin Jiao’s family with their luggage, but the four of them had less luggage than he and his mother did, so he kept his mouth shut and said nothing.
But as they were all getting off together, Li Xiaoi started showing off again. "Hey, where are you all headed? Zhengfeng is coming to pick us up in his car. Since you’re new to the area, how about I have Zhengfeng give you a ride?"
Chen Feng looked up as well. He had been thinking the sa thing, so he looked at Qin Jiao expectantly.
Su Yun shook her head. "No, thank you."
She pulled her husband and two daughters along and headed for the exit, muttering under her breath as they walked, "That Li Xiaoi is so full of herself. She acts like she’s on top of the world. All her showing off on this trip has given a headache."
Qin Zhonghui said, "It’s alright. We’ll just stay away from her from now on."
In reality, they probably wouldn’t have many chances to cross paths anyway. North City was a huge place, after all.
Qin Jiao, however, knew they would probably run into each other quite a bit in the future. It hadn’t been so bad when Chen Feng was dating Lin Nian, but now that he was single again, he was always popping up in front of her. That damned storybook logic was starting to get on her nerves.
The family of four followed the crowd and finally made it out of the station. Not far away, they saw Shen Yi and a man nad Beidou standing by a Jeep. Being tall and sharp-eyed, Shen Yi spotted Qin Jiao’s family imdiately. He strode over, his long legs quickly closing the distance, and wordlessly took the luggage from their hands.
They didn’t actually have much luggage, but Shen Yi’s gesture still made Su Yun feel very gratified.
