Su Yun said, "Hey, when did you all get here?"
"We got here in the early morning. My mom and my grandpa are resting at ho, so we ca to pick you up. Auntie, were you able to rest well on the train last night?"
"Oh, it was fine," Su Yun said quickly.
In truth, the rest had been decent enough, but Li Xiaoi had been incredibly annoying the whole way. But when Su Yun rembered that Li Xiaoi was the howrecker who had destroyed Shen Yi’s family, she knew better than to bring her up.
Beidou ca over to help with the luggage, and the group headed for the car. Shen Yi happened to be walking beside Qin Jiao, who let out a yawn.
Shen Yi said, "It’s not comfortable sleeping on a train. You should get so sleep as soon as we get ho."
His words were rather suggestive. After all, it was *his* ho, not hers.
’But this wasn’t the ti to dwell on it.’ Qin Jiao said, "You got here in the early morning, so you can’t have gotten much sleep either, right?"
"Mm, I’m not sleepy."
’He couldn’t wait to rush over and pick up Jiao Jiao. How could he possibly be sleepy?’
As the group reached the Jeep, they saw Shen Zhengfeng’s car pull into an empty spot nearby. Li Xiaoi was smiling at Shen Zhengfeng, with Chen Feng, a backpack slung over his shoulder, standing beside them.
Qin Zhonghui and Su Yun exchanged a look. What rotten luck to run into them again.
The couple glanced worriedly at Shen Yi. The poor boy must be upset, seeing his own father doting on another child like that.
And Shen Yi’s score on the college entrance exam had been much, much better than Chen Feng’s!
Qin Jiao instinctively turned to look at Shen Yi, but he was completely unfazed. He even reached out and brushed at her bangs.
Qin Jiao glared. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"There’s a leaf. Hold still, I’ll get it for you."
Sure enough, there really was a leaf in Qin Jiao’s hair. Qin Zhonghui and Su Yun saw it but didn’t think anything of it. Chen Feng, however, standing a short distance away, watched the scene with narrowed eyes.
Shen Zhengfeng took one look, then turned and walked away. Li Xiaoi patted her son’s shoulder and said, "Let’s go, Xiao Feng. No wonder they didn’t need a ride from us. Turns out they’ve found soone powerful to suck up to."
With an unreadable expression, Chen Feng nodded and walked away.
anwhile, Shen Yi and the others got into the car. It was completely silent inside until the naturally cheerful Beidou spoke up. "Hey, is everyone tired from the ride? How co no one’s saying a word?"
Qin Jiao answered, "Yeah, I’m a little tired."
"Alright then. I’m a steady driver, so you can probably get about half an hour of sleep. We’ll be ho in roughly forty minutes."
Shen Yi glanced back and saw Qin Jiao leaning against the back of her seat. Only then did he turn around again, saying nothing.
Before long, the sound of steady breathing filled the car. Xiao Shi, however, sat by the window, gazing in amazent at the scenery outside. The buildings in North City were taller and more beautiful than any she had ever seen.
Beidou liked kids. He said to Shen Yi, "Xiao Yi, open the compartnt over there. There’s chocolate inside; give so to Xiao Shi."
"Mm." Shen Yi took out the chocolate and passed it back to Xiao Shi.
Xiao Shi took the chocolate and thanked him with a grin. She suddenly rembered sothing and said in a low voice, "On the train earlier, that older boy offered a plum, but I didn’t take it."
Shen Yi’s brow twitched. "The older boy we just saw in the parking lot?"
"Mm-hm. He and his mom were in the sa car as us. His mom is so annoying. She wanted to trade seats, and when we said no, she still insisted and said a lot of awful things." Xiao Shi took a bite of chocolate and added firmly, "My whole family dislikes them!"
