Elara’s POV
"Elara, don’t!" Dorian shouted.
Panic turned his eyes bloodshot. That was Barrett—an SSS-class wolf beastman with a spirit collapse level that was dangerously high.
Dorian didn’t hesitate. He slamd himself against the wall, desperately trying to block as I scrambled frantically toward Chamber Four.
"What’s happening? What’s going on?" Julian yelled.
He pushed against his door, peering toward Chamber Four. The sounds were all wrong—sothing major was unfolding.
"Damn it, Barrett! What the hell did you do to her?" Kaelen cursed.
He paced wildly, his mind reeling.
"Elara, stay out of there," Finnian warned.
Silas’s frown deepened as he instantly figured out what was happening. He snapped, "Alistair, what are you waiting for?"
Both n spoke simultaneously—just as my voice sliced through the mayhem. "Relax. He just triggered my instinct."
The instinct to hunt zombies.
Alistair was stunned.
The food robot’s lights blinked repeatedly, but before Alistair could move, I was already inside.
Barrett released the railing. He stood motionless by the gate, watching in disbelief as I squeezed through the narrow food slot.
I could almost see the thought crossing his mind: "Wait... She looks more lethal than I do..."
I rolled my neck. "Continue."
Barrett stared in bewildernt.
I pounced on him like a feral creature, leaping straight onto his back. The fluffy wolf imdiately covered his face, overwheld by excitent, shivers, and pure bliss.
He didn’t mind getting smacked. All he cared about was that his mate was on top of him.
"Want to embrace her so badly," he seed to think.
"And I was right—her hand slls incredible," appeared to cross his mind.
There was no spiritual power explosion, no threat—just the sound of slapping him and Barrett’s lovestruck chuckles.
But after several slaps, Barrett’s wolf features suddenly transford.
I went rigid.
Alistair, who had just snuck in, also froze.
Then Barrett gazed down at himself in astonishnt.
His restless wolf paws had beco strong, veined human hands. He blinked, his cheeks marked with red handprints, and looked up at still on top of him.
I stiffened. My raised hand stayed suspended—I couldn’t decide whether to hit him or climb off.
Oh crap.
Why did this wolf suddenly beco human?
And he’s ridiculously gorgeous.
Barrett had short silver-gray hair, sharp, captivating features, and a powerful but not coarse fra. Heavy brows, vivid eyes, a prominent nose, and pink, smiling lips... My pulse quickened. He was completely different from Silas or Julian.
Silas was the refined, dangerous kind.
Julian was stunningly attractive, with an almost fragile, boyish charm.
But Barrett possessed a flawless blend of beauty and power—so appealing I had to gulp. Even AI filters couldn’t create a face that stunning.
My gaze wandered downward, and I could barely suppress my smile.
Damn, what a magnificent broad chest.
His bare shoulders bore scars—genuine man’s marks.
A silver earring dangled from a strand of hair by his ear.
"You should’ve ntioned you looked like this," I muttered as I climbed off him.
The bright red tips of my ears betrayed how rattled I was.
I didn’t dare glance down, terrified I’d catch an improper view of him.
Oops. So this guy isn’t so ordinary tough guy—he’s just naturally stunning. Just like Julian isn’t so hideous old man. Jackpot! All mine.
All different appearances, personalities, and vibes. No duplicates. And they let smack them. Ideal.
My little angel and devil began bickering in my head.
Attracted to him again? You’re so superficial.
If you’re so profound, go date soone hideous.
I wondered if I should peek back at Barrett.
Don’t. You’re already mortified enough.
But being overly bashful is ridiculous. You need to verify if he’s truly well-built. All that muscle can’t be just for display, right?
You’re just going to claim him?
Absolutely! The system paired him with us legally. This is what we’ve earned.
The angel got knocked unconscious.
I had just reached the food slot when I decided. I spun around under Alistair and Dorian’s shocked gazes.
Barrett blinked in confusion.
"I’m sorry. I won’t chew the railing anymore," he said hurriedly.
I stared blankly.
That’s not what I was thinking! Are you covering up that quickly to prevent from checking you out?
But...
Even through the towel, his proportions are evident.
Excellent. Really excellent. Flawless.
Barrett’s size is incredible as a wolf and even more impressive as a human.
I gave him a thumbs-up. "You devil, I knew I was right about you."
Everyone’s hearts plumted again—so the devil she’d referenced was Barrett?
