Kaelen’s POV
I crumbled completely, my control shattering. Stumbling back, I crashed against the cold tal wall. Elara’s face was all I could see, burned into my vision.
A casual touch couldn’t have drained my energy that drastically. Not unless Elara had done it deliberately. Which ant she was conscious.
Has Elara fallen for soone else?
The possibility ignited a vicious, envious fla in my chest.
So many want her. And I despise this prison more than anything else. She ventured out by herself. She got injured, and I wasn’t there to protect her. I’m supposed to be her husband, yet I was powerless.
I witnessed her pain. I watched her seek comfort from another. And I was utterly helpless.
My vision turned crimson. I glared at the transparent barrier and drove my fist against it with everything I had.
Release . I need to escape. She belongs to .

Alistair watched in disbelief. He’d never imagined a re few-point decrease would push Kaelen over the edge.
What the hell is this rabbit conjuring up to lose his mind like this?
Everyone froze as the protective shield crashed down.

Elara’s POV
My wood power was acting up again, responding to my emotions. I could feel the vines stirring beneath my skin, eager to break free. Who says Water Weave is useless? It works great for what I need right now.
I approached the barrier, my heart pounding. The surveillance equipnt would be a problem, but I had to try. Thank god I’m not busty, or I’d get stuck trying to get through that opening.
The mutual pining was killing . I had to do sothing completely reckless.

Kaelen’s POV
I was in pieces when Elara’s scent reached through my haze. Despite my fractured ntal state, a thread of sanity remained. The mont I detected her presence, I threw myself against the barrier.
My usual composure had vanished entirely. I stared vacantly outward until a green vine snaked toward . I extended my hand, and the tendril coiled tightly around my wrist. Then ca a sharp snap.
When the barrier exploded, I looked up in amazent. Elara stood outside my cell, breathless, icy energy flowing from her palms.
When she spotted , she smiled.
The surveillance equipnt burst into fragnts.
"Kaelen..."
"My lady..."
We spoke simultaneously.
My heart was racing out of control. She looked ready to do sothing completely reckless.
"Will you hurt ?" she asked.
I shook my head desperately. "Never. You gave my life aning. I love you. I’m yours. Tell you love too. Look—we share the sa mark. It aches... When I imagine you might care for soone else, the jealousy nearly kills . I know it’s twisted, but I can’t stop it. Please don’t despise ."
I felt like breaking down. My words ca out tender and devoted, but my expression must have shown the wild, starving need I felt for her.
Elara stared at with that tempting look, then did sothing absolutely insane—she started climbing through the food slot again.
I realized what she was attempting, and my eyes went wide. I rushed forward and caught her in my arms.
She wriggled through the opening; I drew her close and held her tightly.
My breathing was ragged, my gaze fixed on Elara’s lips. She stared back with equal intensity. Our heated eyes locked. Elara lifted my face, clearly planning to take things further.
"Dr. Draken, do you have any flaws?" she asked.
"Plenty of them." I couldn’t look away—her lips, moving as she spoke, were srizing.
"Such as?"
"I’m jealous. Controlling."
Elara laughed, her bold intentions obvious. She pressed her finger beneath my chin and said in a low voice, "Those are simple to handle. Want to know my weakness?"
I tilted my head and softly bit her finger, my voice trembling. "You’re perfect."
"Silly, I’m human—I have tons of flaws." Elara leaned close and whispered in my ear, "My weakness is that I enjoy capturing guys who intrigue ."
She removed my glasses. I was flushing everywhere now, not just my eyes. She kissed intensely. I closed my eyes tight, my large hands gripping her securely. My salty tears mixed with the kiss, the sharp, bitter taste slowly bringing back to reality.
Am I dreaming?
