Chapter 980: Chapter 0980: Theoretical Emperor Olivia
The call was connected in an instant.
As soon as the call went through, Xu Mingzhe imdiately smiled and said, “Ruoxi, calling you at this hour, I hope I’m not interrupting your dinner?”
“No!” Qiu Ruoxi’s voice was exceptionally cold, so cold it could freeze soone solid.
Even through the phone, Xu Mingzhe could still sense the soul-piercing chill hidden in Qiu Ruoxi’s tone.
But Xu Mingzhe didn’t hang up because of this. Instead, he continued, “That’s good. There’s sothing I’d like to discuss with you. Do you have ti tomorrow?”
“Co to my company.”
“Alright, I’ll et you at your company tomorrow at noon. It’s been a while since I visited Brother Ye as well!” Xu Mingzhe replied with a hearty laugh.
“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up now.”
“Alright, take care. See you tomorrow!”
Xu Mingzhe was long accustod—perhaps entirely numb—to Qiu Ruoxi’s icy attitude and did not take offense to it.
After hanging up, he exhaled a heavy sigh and muttered to himself, “Yan Qingdi, Jiangzhong City really isn’t suited for soone like you. You should just take yourself back to the capital!”
A shadowy flash crossed Xu Mingzhe’s eyes as he spoke.
But it disappeared as quickly as it ca.
anwhile, after hanging up the phone, Qiu Ruoxi turned back toward the window once again.
Olivia, who was driving, noticed Qiu Ruoxi end the call and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong? Still mad at Ye Xunhuan?”
“It’s just… I feel a little uncomfortable, that’s all,” Qiu Ruoxi said softly, her gaze fixed on the rapidly passing scenery outside the window.
Olivia chuckled. “Anyone in your shoes would feel the sa. But marriage, this is just how it is.”
“You don’t understand what that bastard said to . He called unreasonable…”
Recalling Ye Xunhuan’s words, Qiu Ruoxi bubbled with an irrepressible fury. “And what, he thinks he’s perfectly reasonable?”
“He disappears whenever he wants, without a care for what anyone else feels…”
“Ruoxi,” Olivia gently interrupted her, “Do you know the only way two married people can stay together for a lifeti?”
“What is it?”
“Patience,” Olivia responded with a serious expression. “There was once a report—do you rember it? A journalist interviewed two elderly individuals, asking how they managed to love and support each other throughout their lives.”
“What did they say?”
“The man said, ‘Patience.'” Olivia chuckled lightly. “The woman added, ‘Even more patience.'”
Qiu Ruoxi froze for a mont. “So that’s the so-called secret to enduring love?”
“Why don’t you ask Aunt Wang about this? She’s been through it all; I bet she understands relationships better than I do,” Olivia said nonchalantly. “But I believe, for two people to stay together for life, they must first learn patience.”
“A little conflict here, a bit of friction there—if neither of you budges or compromises, things are only going to head toward disaster.”
Qiu Ruoxi remained silent.
Aunt Wang had once told her that marriage was like gears and chains, each needed to go through its own kind of grinding process to fit together seamlessly.
What Olivia was saying now, though worded differently, ultimately shared the sa aning at its core.
Seeing Qiu Ruoxi’s silence, Olivia added, “I’ve known Ye Xunhuan for so many years. He’s not soone who acts recklessly without considering everything. Sothing big must have happened this ti; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been in such a rush.”
“Try to cut him so slack…”
“Sister Wei Ya, did he send you to persuade ?” Qiu Ruoxi asked curiously.
Olivia shook her head. “He wouldn’t co to to play the role of diator. To him, it’s already enough that I don’t badmouth him behind his back!”
“Why is that?”
“Because I’m blunt!” Olivia declared with a straight face. “I do whatever suits without caring what others think. Of all people, he’d never choose to act as a diator!”
“But here you are…”
“He didn’t ask , but I can’t just stand by and watch now, can I?” Olivia sighed. “I don’t have many friends—close ones even fewer. Your husband happens to be one of my best friends!”
“Though I’ve often thought about killing him myself, I could never bring myself to do it. That guy may be infuriating, but he’s infuriatingly lovable too!”
As she continued, Olivia seed to rember sothing. Turning to Qiu Ruoxi, she added, “Oh, by the way, let share a secret with you.”
“What secret?”
“I’ve never seen him apologize or bow to any woman before. You might just be the first!”
“Really?”
“Why would I lie about sothing like that?” Olivia said earnestly. “That guy used to act like a tyrant. Asking him to bow his head might as well be more painful than stabbing him with a knife!”
“Plus, I heard from Aunt Wang that he treats you well. No matter what happens, he always thinks of you first…”
“He’s… he’s alright, I guess. Other than being a bit of a flirt and saying so crude things from ti to ti, he’s not too bad,” Qiu Ruoxi admitted, unable to help but recall a few past incidents.
She thought back to the ti when Qiu Shuihan tried to strike her, only for Ye Xunhuan to stand in her defense. And she also rembered the mont Shan Yujing restrained her, prompting Ye Xunhuan to give up everything willingly to save her…
Scene after scene from the past replayed in her mind, gradually lting away much of the anger she’d been harboring.
“This ti, he went to save soone, soone who might be very important to him…” Olivia added thoughtfully, suddenly realizing sothing and quickly clarifying, “Of course, that doesn’t an you’re any less important. It’s just a matter of priorities!”
“And besides, he’s co back, hasn’t he?”
“If he hadn’t co back, what could you have done anyway?” Olivia asked softly. “But the mont he returned ho, the very first thing he asked about was you…”
“Really?”
“Believe it or not,” Olivia laughed. “I know you’re still upset, but really, won need to learn how to be patient!”
“Whether it’s marriage or a relationship, n don’t want overly assertive or domineering won. What they want is gentleness. Master that, and you’ll have them in the palm of your hand. Trust !”
Though Olivia had never experienced much romance herself, she’d seen plenty of love and heartache pass by. Naturally, she’d picked up a thing or two along the way.
As the saying goes, you don’t have to eat pork to know what a pig looks like.
Olivia was exactly the kind of person who thrived on theoretical wisdom. And much as Qiu Ruoxi might not have wanted to admit it, Olivia’s words were undeniably on point.
Listening to her friend’s advice, Qiu Ruoxi fell into a pensive silence.
“Tonight, he’ll probably co find you to explain everything,” Olivia added, sensing her thoughts. “His attitude this ti will definitely be better. When that happens, if you really still feel upset, just give him a couple of hits or scold him a bit—but don’t let it keep dragging on like this. It’s not good for either of you!”
