"Hello... you don’t want to change rooms anymore?"
The butler’s voice rang out again. This ti, it sounded normal—only the sound of blood, or sothing like it, dripping onto the floor broke the eerie silence of the night.
"Please... just go close the door..."
At this point, the blonde woman didn’t even dare to raise her voice. The other two won hid behind the two n, not daring to move an inch.
After a while, with still no sound from the monster, the cross-eyed man couldn’t help but mumble, "It... it’s gone now, right?"
The long-haired man swallowed hard, said nothing, and slowly moved toward the door, slamming it shut with the fastest speed of his life.
"BAM! BAM!"
Just as the door closed, a heavy impact echoed through the room, followed by violent pounding that shook the entire door.
The long-haired man scread and stumbled back, panic and fear written all over his face.
The knocking continued for nearly five minutes. From who knows where, water began to seep through the cracks in the door, soaking the floor and mixing with diluted blood—making everything sll even more foul and revolting.
The three won clung to each other, sobbing. The two n’s eyes were also filled with despair and terror.
But this ti, everything honestly stopped. The water slowly receded, leaving only blood and fear lingering in everyone’s minds.
The blonde woman collapsed to the floor, eyes full of hopelessness.
"We have to get out of here. This castle... it is haunted. There are ghosts here, real ghosts!"
As she spoke, she struggled to crawl up from the ground, looking as if she’d bolt out at any mont. Seeing her ntal breakdown, the other two won didn’t dare stop her.
The long-haired man grabbed her and said in a low voice, "At least wait until morning. You don’t want to beco that monster’s next al, do you?"
Hearing that, it was as if a cold splash of water woke her up. She exhaled shakily, then collapsed onto the bed and burst into tears.
She had only co here hoping to change her life—so how did it all turn out like this?! She didn’t want to die. She didn’t want to die!
The others said nothing, but their faces cleared their despair and fear.
No doubt about it—tomorrow, the NPCs would leave the castle at all costs.
But the only question now was...
Would the William family let them leave?
On the other side, Ron frowned and said in a low voice,
"Looks like that’s the extent of tonight’s danger. If this were a dungeon full of ordinary people, the casualty count would be way higher."
But this ti, all the participants were skilled espers—of course, the first night would be less deadly.
"Seems like these NPCs only think like normal people. Maybe they are just regular folks in this world," Cyril added.
"Hah. I thought they’d all run out at once or sothing. That would’ve made tomorrow way less of a hassle," Eryon suddenly muttered, his face full of irritation.
Ron was about to say sothing—but realized Eryon wasn’t wrong. Tomorrow, the NPCs would no doubt panic over what had happened, and when that ti ca, it would be even easier to expose their group’s imposters.
Benjamin had thought of the sa thing. However, at that mont, he simply said, "Alright, everyone, just get so rest for now. Tomorrow morning, we’ll get up early and discuss this with Cocona and the others."
No one objected—because none of them knew what they’d be facing when morning ca.
The following day, the sky was still overcast, and the sun hadn’t risen yet. The humans woke from a night of broken sleep.
Just as Benjamin was about to open the door to find Cocona and the others, a sudden knocking echoed from the other side.
Ron, Cyril, and Austin instinctively turned toward the door. After what had happened the night before, the fear still lingered—they couldn’t help but stay on guard.
Cocona’s voice rang out: "Open up. We need to discuss today’s strategy."
"Benjamin, be careful," Cyril couldn’t help but say.
Before Benjamin could respond, Ron had already stepped forward, speaking rapidly: "Let do it, let !"
Since Ron and Cocona were from the sa headquarters, Benjamin said nothing and stepped aside.
Ron looked at the door and raised his voice: "Captain Cocona, are you very close to my captain by any chance?"
Even with the door between them, Cocona’s gritted teeth could be heard clearly by everyone: "No! And it’s already morning—I am Cocona!"
Ron nodded, then took the lead and opened the door. Even though they had tested this before, he was still ready to fight at a mont’s notice—who knew how well that monster might be able to disguise itself?
The mont the door opened, Cocona was t with a powerful gust of wind that seed ready to slash her face to pieces.
She stared at the two spinning wind blades hovering near the doorway, clearly ready to sever a throat at any second. Her expression turned deadpan. "Alright, alright. Can you call off these things now?"
Ron scratched his head with an awkward laugh, and the wind blades disappeared almost instantly.
Cocona scanned the room, then looked toward the bed and frowned. "Wake him up. You’re seriously just letting him do whatever he wants?"
On the bed, Eryon was still curled up like a cat, looking as if he had no intention of getting up even if the sun was blazing overhead—showing none of the tension of soone trapped in a dungeon full of dangers.
Leonard opened his mouth to say sothing, but Benjamin spoke first: "He fought the monster last night."
Leonard looked at Benjamin in surprise, and even the comnt section didn’t hold back:
[First Leonard, now Benjamin... what’s so special about this guy?!]
[I don’t care about Leonard, but Benjamin’s a gentle soul—it makes sense he’d care about others...]
[Yeah, Benjamin’s sweet but never lets people slack off before him. Stop making excuses—he’s gotten weird, too, haha.]
[The people putting Benjamin on a pedestal must be spiraling right now, haha!]
[Clearly, Eryon has sothing, and Benjamin noticed it. Anyway, who cares? Let him be.]
[The halo of a fool, lol. Even a total airhead like Eryon’s getting defenders now. Hilarious.]
[Please—not every fool has a face like that. So of y’all need to stop being so salty.]
Cocona raised an eyebrow at Benjamin, then said bluntly, "Who didn’t face the monster last night?"
She understood Benjamin ant sothing different, but if Eryon had escaped the night unscathed, the monster was too weak, or he’d been saved just in ti.
Cocona stepped forward before anyone else could respond and yanked the blanket off him. Eryon still had his eyes shut, curled up slightly with a grumble of discomfort, one hand groping blindly for his missing blanket. Still, there was no sign he intended to get up.
Cocona smirked as if sothing amusing had crossed her mind and suddenly reached out to pinch Eryon’s cheek.
Hmm... not a bad texture.
[Wait, what the hell?! What’s with Cocona’s face right now?!]
[She’s doing exactly what I wanted to do! Cocona, please describe what that felt like!]
[I’ve never seen that expression on Cocona’s face—unbelievable!]
[What I care about is Leonard’s reaction, lol.]
Right then, Leonard stepped forward, seemingly wanting to swat Cocona’s hand away—but Eryon was quicker.
He shot up in bed, yelling, "What the hell do you think you’re doing?!"
He covered his slightly flushed cheek, eyeing Cocona warily like a startled animal. The scene felt as though their roles had flipped entirely.
Cocona just shrugged with a grin. "Nothing. I don’t like watching other people slack off."
Eryon snorted. "Annoying bunch!"
Still, he quickly got to his feet and joined the group.
[Honestly, Eryon’s not bad. He talks like a jerk.]
[He’s just being blunt. Maybe he hates flowery words, haha.]
[If he doesn’t want to cooperate, then let him get himself killed. I can’t believe people are defending this weirdo.]
[I’ll repeat it—with that face, Eryon could never be just a regular guy!]
"First things first—we can’t let anyone find out we’re impostors," Cocona said seriously. "I plan to pressure those NPCs a little. If needed, they can help us scout out so information."
She had already thought through the potential uses of the NPCs—and this was her conclusion.
"But I don’t think they’re cut out for acting," Cyril said thoughtfully.
"Just say it’s the stress of exorcism. The William family knows the monster in this castle isn’t ordinary!" Ron added excitedly.
"Who said the monster that attacked us last night is the sa one causing the chaos in the castle?" Eryon’s voice suddenly cut in, drawing everyone’s attention.
"Fine then, so what’s your opinion?" Benjamin suddenly spoke up, cutting off Vale, who was just about to say sothing.
Eryon looked at Benjamin. Just as everyone thought he was about to say sothing important, he shrugged and said, "I just have a feeling, that’s all. Whether you listen or not, I don’t care. This information doesn’t affect anyway."
Everyone: "..."
Seriously, Eryon had nothing going for him except that face!
