Chapter 1192: Chapter 1192: Greed Brings Disaster
“Hey, isn’t that the short and feeble Qiu from Tiantong?” Lu Zhaofeng pointed ahead and chuckled softly.
Both sides had essentially arrived almost simultaneously, using very covert thods—Qiu Shangren had even taken a large detour.
Thus, during the journey, neither side discovered the other. But now, as Qiu Shangren sought an audience, Lu Zhaofeng finally uncovered his whereabouts.
Accompanying him was the Guest Elder of the three brothers—a stunning female cultivator nad Dong Liuye. Although a woman, her combat strength was exceptional. In a one-on-one duel, she could defeat any one of the Lu Family brothers.
By comparison, Qiu Shangren’s combat strength was indeed lackluster. While he was considered diligent among Tiantong’s Shangrens, he was never known for his fighting prowess.
Dong Liuye, however, furrowed her brows and, after observing for a while, finally spoke, “This place—we can’t take it.”
“It’s indeed daunting,” Lu Zhaofeng nodded, though he tended to be arrogant, he wasn’t entirely foolish. “Just the moving courtyards alone are impressive. But… would it be a pity to give up like this?”
Though his words carried so sense of reality, they also held an air of provocation, as he knew Dong Liuye was soone with strong pride.
Sure enough, Dong Liuye chuckled dismissively, “Then let’s just find a few more people. Two courtyards, after all.”
She was clearly tempted by the wealth represented by the courtyards. Being a Guest Elder for the Ashen-Hued Assembly, wealth was undoubtedly her goal.
Lu Zhaofeng mulled it over, “Do we… need to inform Big Brother and Second Brother?”
While his nature was impulsive, he wasn’t entirely brainless. The opposing camp already had at least four Shangrens present.
However, Dong Liuye didn’t want Lu Lao Da and Lu Lao Er to co over. Once the three brothers joined forces, how much of a share would be left for her?
Still, she couldn’t outright object. So her eyes shifted, “What if… we try probing them first?”
Lu Zhaofeng glanced at her and whispered, “How do we probe?”
Dong Liuye’s plan was simple. She suggested the two lie in ambush nearby and launch a surprise attack.
Their target couldn’t be Wu Shangren, nor Qiu Shangren, but rather Feng Jun or the Shangren traveling with Feng Jun.
Dong Liuye believed that as long as they could decisively take down one Shangren, Wu Shangren would likely refrain from further action, and as for Qiu Shangren from Tiantong, he was probably hired on a temporary basis and likely wouldn’t have strong fighting intent.
She wasn’t entirely unaware of the wishful thinking involved in her assumptions, but… if the other two Lu brothers joined in, securing even one courtyard’s magical treasure would be much harder.
Therefore, she insisted that the opposing party wasn’t as formidable as they seed.
Of course, if Feng Jun’s camp had a fifth Shangren, then the two of them would most likely have to flee. But they both had confidence in their ability to escape.
No matter the outco, as long as their ambush succeeded, they could cripple the opposing party’s combat strength.
Even if escape beca inevitable, Dong Liuye felt her accomplishnts would be significant enough to earn recognition and rewards.
Driven by her own interests, Dong Liuye proposed the plan, and Lu Zhaofeng, being the more reckless type, quickly agreed after so brief contemplation. “Your idea isn’t bad—didn’t expect you to have such a sharp mind… Maybe we can just take them down ourselves.”
Thus, the two lay in patient ambush, positioned a few miles away from the courtyard.
But the two couldn’t have anticipated that Feng Jun’s side had already discovered them.
This was primarily due to Chen Junwei, who had always been responsible for keeping Mount Zhige under surveillance, and had long been accustod to using night-vision tools to scout the surroundings.
Shortly after Qiu Shangren entered the small courtyard, night fell. Chen Junwei, using his binoculars, scanned the area and accidentally caught sight of two vague white shadows before quickly reporting his findings to Feng Jun.
Due to the considerable distance, Feng Jun couldn’t discern their exact identities, but the presence of Storage Bags on them made it clear they weren’t ordinary individuals.
He suspected Qiu Shangren’s movents had been exposed but couldn’t openly admit it, so he subtly alerted Kong Ziyi and Huang Fu Wu Xia—soone was hiding nearby, likely with ill intentions, and it would be best not to venture out casually.
The night passed uneventfully, but early the next morning, Feng Jun checked his phone and saw that the two Storage Bags hadn’t budged from their positions. He realized the matter needed swift resolution—knowing they had Shangrens yet still maintaining a watch ant their hostility was significant.
Within Feng Jun’s group, besides Wu Shangren who had returned ho, three male Shangrens remained in Feng Jun’s courtyard, while two female Shangrens were in another.
After so thought, Feng Jun decided it would be best for him to act alone, with Yang Shangren, Qiu Shangren, and the two female Shangrens coordinating to encircle any threats.
Once the strategy was agreed upon, Feng Jun stepped out of his courtyard and headed for the door of Kong Ziyi’s courtyard, intending to knock.
Initially, this was only a preliminary test. If there was no response, he planned to wait a while, then leave Kong Ziyi’s courtyard and walk around the area, seeking an opportunity to engage the hidden adversaries.
However, what he didn’t expect was that before he could even knock on the door, a fierce attack ca surging toward him.
Fortunately, he had been sowhat on guard, and sensing sothing was off behind him, he instinctively used Rapid Flash without hesitation.
Lu Zhaofeng was the first to launch an attack—a Divine Sense Attack!
In truth, Divine Sense Attacks are excellent for ambushes. They’re stealthy, swift, and capable of ignoring distance—Feng Jun often used this thod himself.
Though Lu Zhaofeng was brash and arrogant, his soul was relatively formidable. Furthermore, he had invested heavily in secret techniques to strengthen his soul, given his frequent involvent in sudden battles.
While Lu Zhaofeng’s attack was swift, Dong Liuye wasn’t far behind. With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a “Guishui Yin Thunder.” Though visible, it was still a Thunder Technique and moved at astonishing speed.
As soon as the Thunder Technique was unleashed, she followed up with a bead containing a special concoction of “Stiffening Poison Powder,” capable of bypassing Spiritual Energy shields. Once it made contact with its target, it would imdiately render them rigid.
The duo lived up to their reputation for ruthlessness—a combination of Divine Sense Attack, lightning, and poison powder all at once. Though not overly expensive, their ambush was more than enough to threaten a Shangren in the Initial Realm.
Fortunately, Dong Liuye recognized Feng Jun’s identity, and thus planned to follow the poison powder attack by deploying her Rope Lasso to capture him.
anwhile, Lu Zhaofeng charged forward like lightning, aiming to block any external aid.
For Feng Jun, while he could endure the Divine Sense Attack, the Guishui Yin Thunder unexpectedly tracked him even after his Rapid Flash. He was montarily startled: Could Thunder Techniques actually ho in on targets?
The thought of being hit by such a Yin Thunder was unacceptable, so he abruptly exited his phone dinsion, severing the Thunder Technique’s tracking source, before re-entering his phone dinsion.
To ensure his safety, he lingered briefly in the pocket dinsion for a fraction of a second, then reappeared, executing another Rapid Flash.
After two Rapid Flashes, he finally shook off the Yin Thunder. The technique, resembling teleportation, triggered spatial fluctuations that created visual distortions, making it nearly impossible for anyone to notice he had swapped dinsions.
As for the poison powder bead, it lost its target at the very beginning and detonated futilely at the door of Kong Ziyi’s courtyard.
Yet the powder did not entirely disperse. The mont Feng Jun was attacked, Kong Ziyi, already in the courtyard, soared into the air. Upon spotting the poison powder floating outside the gate, she frowned slightly and tossed out a brown gourd.
The gourd’s mouth pointed downward, rapidly absorbing the airborne poison powder with visible speed.
Huang Fu Wu Xia also ascended into the air. Seeing this, she sneered coldly and raised her hand, summoning a roaring golden dragon that lunged toward Lu Zhaofeng. “You little punk, courting death!”
Third Brother Lu responded swiftly, throwing out an Explosive Talisman while darting to the side with a loud shout, “Quick battle, finish it fast!”
The situation was shaping up into their worst-case scenario—Feng Jun’s camp turned out to have three Shangrens!
Still, if they could defeat Feng Jun quickly, the battle was not yet lost.
However, Dong Liuye already had no intention of continuing the fight—with Feng Jun’s two Rapid Flashes nullifying both of her attacks, along with his sheer reflexes and agility, it was clear Lu Lao San’s Divine Sense Attack had barely been effective either.
Worse still, she not only spotted Kong Ziyi and Huang Fu Wu Xia, but also caught sight of Qiu Shangren, Yang Shangren, and Du Shangren!
Six Shangrens! Without hesitation, she turned to flee, slapping her Storage Bag to retrieve a Flowing Light Talisman.
Her reactions, however, were still too slow. Feng Jun raised a hand, casting a rare “Delay Talisman,” one he had purchased earlier in Tiantong for the hefty price of three thousand Spirit Stones.
The Delay Talisman’s function was simple—to slow the target’s movents for five breaths’ ti. Though seemingly minor, for cultivators accustod to combat, such an effect was often a decisive factor.
Three thousand Spirit Stones too pricey? Nonsense. At that rate, even wanting to buy one could prove impossible for most.
Though Feng Jun hesitated to use such an expensive tool, seeing as the opponent was an Interdiate Level Shangren and he himself had just endured a Divine Sense Attack, other thods wouldn’t guarantee capturing her. Thus, he opted to deploy one of his only two Delay Talismans.
Dong Liuye wasn’t lacking in protective instrunts, many of good quality. Against Thunder Techniques or Divine Sense Attacks, she held strong defenses. Yet, she hadn’t anticipated a slow-effect talisman being used against her and was instantly caught.
The talisman’s effect was akin to temporal slow-motion, where what typically ran at 48 fras per second now played at 24 fras per second.
For Feng Jun, that was more than enough. In high-level combat, even fractions of a second can determine outcos—this principle holds true in both the Cultivation World and Earth Realm, as evidenced by precision events like the hundred-ter sprint.
He executed another Rapid Flash, maneuvering to Dong Liuye’s side, and successfully activated the Soul-Suppressing Bell, trapping her firmly.
Why use the Soul-Suppressing Bell instead of the Immortal Binding Rope? Because he still anticipated the possibility of a third Shangren appearing. While the Soul-Suppressing Bell wasn’t particularly strong in binding Shangrens, it offered supplentary attack options.
However, no third opponent erged. After Feng Jun subdued Dong Liuye, Huang Fu Wu Xia captured Third Brother Lu as well.
At this mont, Lu Zhaofeng realized the fatal flaw in their plan—they had attacked six Shangrens with only two on their side—not even factoring in Wu Shangren from their notes.
The disparity in strength was far too overwhelming, and even if the other two Lu brothers arrived, it would make little difference.
Lu Zhaofeng glared viciously at Du Fanghui, “Old Du… You’ve really done it this ti.”
