Mo Chuxi’s expression faltered noticeably when Yan Xinxin uttered those words. A subtle change flickered across his face.
Yan Xinxin looked at him, unsure whether to feel elated or disheartened in that mont.
His reaction revealed that, in his heart, Mu Qianyuan was still an important and irreplaceable presence.
And yet, that very reaction brought an inexplicable conflict within her.
He, it seems, still holds "her" close to his heart...
"If Mu Qianyuan were still alive, and she ca back, would you divorce without hesitation to fulfill the promise you made to her?"
Yan Xinxin lowered her long curled lashes and spoke softly.
The air around them seed to freeze in an instant. Mo Chuxi stepped forward and stood before Yan Xinxin.
"You’re right. There’s going to be another wedding."
He spoke.
Those words dropped like a heavy stone into the lake of her heart, subrging her completely.
"But it won’t be with anyone else. It will be with you."
What he said next stopped Yan Xinxin in her tracks.
"The grand wedding I promised you didn’t go as planned. I never got to hear you say ’I do.’ That ceremony wasn’t complete. Do you understand what I an?"
His words, both explicit and implicit, made it clear—he wanted to give Yan Xinxin the wedding she deserved, and no other woman.
"If what you’re saying is true, that Mu Qianyuan is still alive, then I think I’d feel relieved. After all, she truly was the girl I most wanted to protect deep in my heart. And years ago, she had her accident because she saved . If it’s possible, I hope she’s doing well now."
Mo Chuxi spoke candidly, his eyes catching the wavering emotion on Yan Xinxin’s face.
"But listen carefully, Yan Xinxin. That was all in the past. I only have one heart, and it can’t hold two people. Right now, there’s only one woman here—and her na is Yan Xinxin."
He looked at her, his thin lips moved gently, the well-defined fingers pointing to his chest.
Yan Xinxin felt her breath hitch and her heartbeat quicken!
Mo Chuxi’s words poured into her ears, sank into her mind, and left her montarily breathless.
Her face turned pale as she abruptly spun around.

She rejected his approach, walking quickly toward the bed, her fingers trembling alongside her racing heart.
Tears slid silently from the corners of her eyes. Was she crying tears of joy, sorrow, or sothing else entirely? She didn’t know anymore.
He still harbored lingering feelings for Mu Qianyuan.
But he claid the woman in his heart now was Yan Xinxin.
Mu Qianyuan was no longer the girl whose promises he wanted to fulfill...
Mo Chuxi remained where he stood, chewing over the words Yan Xinxin had just spoken.

His arm was still around her waist, and his leg—so brazen—was draped across hers!
Yan Xinxin’s entire body was practically enveloped in Mo Chuxi’s embrace.
Clearly, soti after she’d fallen asleep last night, he’d climbed into her bed without her noticing.
Yan Xinxin’s gaze swept over Mo Chuxi: his sharp brows, his high-bridged nose, his lips as delicately thin as blade edges—all faintly overlapped with a face etched in her mory.
She slowly lifted her hand, letting it rest on his cheek, her lips moving softly.
