"Xinxin, what's wrong? Who did you see?"
The son sitting beside her didn't quite understand. He only saw his mother with an expression of indescribable excitent, her eyes red as if she was about to cry.
"It's Dad! It's really Dad!"
Yan Xinxin was so excited that she couldn't form coherent sentences, suddenly grabbing her son's hand.
"Xi, it's your grandpa. Your grandpa is back!"
"Grandpa?"
"Yes, yes!"
Yan Xinxin happily wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and looked eagerly at Mo Chuxi.
"Mr. Mo, can you please stop the car?"
Mo Chuxi looked at Yan Xinxin's overwhelmingly excited expression in the rearview mirror, and for so reason, he felt a strange sense of fullness swirling in his chest.
He stopped the car, and Yan Xinxin almost imdiately opened the door, taking her son out with her.
Mo Chuxi sat in the car, watching as Yan Xinxin's petite and delicate figure pulled her son along, running toward a middle-aged man dressed in dust-stained gray clothes.
"Dad!"
Yan Xinxin couldn't hold back and shouted toward the man walking along the cobblestone street.
The middle-aged man's steps suddenly halted, and then he slowly turned around.
It was a simple and weathered face, though it looked sowhat haggard and aged.
As the man turned and saw Yan Xinxin, the calm expression on his face imdiately cracked.
"Xinxin?"
Yang Guoping looked at the vibrant young woman in front of him in disbelief, his eyes instantly turning red.
They hadn't seen each other in five years. The once-naive little girl seed utterly transford, blooming like a flower, even more beautiful and dazzling than before.
"Dad..."
Yan Xinxin choked on her words as she called out.
"Yes."
Yang Guoping's trembling voice responded as he opened his arms, just as he had done when Yan Xinxin was a little girl, pulling her into a warm embrace.
Mo Chuxi sat in the car watching the scene unfold, a faint tremor inexplicably rippling through his heart.
The father and daughter hugged for a long ti before finally letting go.
"Xinxin, Xinxin..."
Yan Chenxi reached out his small hand, tugging at Yan Xinxin's coat.
Yan Xinxin suddenly snapped out of it, quickly wiping away her tears of joy before hurriedly pulling her son in front of Yang Guoping.
"Xi, this is your grandpa. Quickly, call him grandpa."
"Grandpa?"
Yan Chenxi blinked his charmingly long eyes, staring bewilderedly at Yang Guoping.
Back when Yang Guoping had been sentenced to prison for injuring soone seriously, Yan Chenxi had still been in Yan Xinxin's belly.
"Dad, this is your grandson Xi. He's five years old this year!"
Yan Xinxin introduced him to Yang Guoping, her face glowing with a tinge of pride.
Mo Chuxi noticed this, but for so reason, he felt an inexplicable sense of irritation rising in his chest.
This woman, was she really so proud of giving birth to a son for that scumbag who abandoned his wife and child?
Pregnant and giving birth at eighteen—what on earth did that man have to make her waste those beautiful and radiant years as a single mother?
"Knock, knock, knock!"
The car window was suddenly tapped loudly, with an excessively annoying rhythm.
Mo Chuxi snapped out of his thoughts, noticing that Yan Xinxin and her father had already taken her son into the residential area.
"Mr. Mo! Mr. Mo!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
The obnoxious knocking sounded again, and Mo Chuxi furrowed his brows, his cold and strikingly handso face turning to look.
Through the car window, he saw a middle-aged woman standing outside with a fawning smile plastered on her face.
Mo Chuxi coldly rolled down the car window, and before he could even speak, Ye Lirong eagerly introduced herself.
"Mr. Mo, I am Zhirou's mom! Hello there!"
Zhirou? Yan Zhirou?
Mo Chuxi quickly recalled the day he saw Yan Xinxin arguing with a woman nad Yan Zhirou. This Yan Zhirou seed to be Yan Xinxin's younger sister.
So, the woman in front of him must be Yan Xinxin's mother?
"Mr. Mo, you're even more handso in person than on TV or in magazines! You'd look absolutely perfect with our Zhirou!"
