Maddy whispered to herself, eyebrows knitting in disbelief. Then, with a soft plop, a sli dangling from the arch of the entranceway slid off, revealing the full text:

Maddy staggered back a step, eyes wide.

She let out a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Well... I guess this is one way to et the townspeople. Not quite what I imagined, but... interesting, I guess?"
Oozewell town... A town where the S rank party led by Erwin had co to report their guild mission and... the very sa adventurers who had trespassed into her ho and, according to her, were now residing sowhere in her stomach.
Stepping cautiously through the gate, Maddy’s eyes widened—slis were everywhere, bouncing, oozing, and jiggling across the cobblestones. The bright morning sun reflected off their translucent forms, casting a rainbow sheen across the slick ground.

"No... it’s not that the slis live here... it’s that this town lives because of them. Every building, every good, every little thing... it all cos from the slis. They’re the lifeblood of this place. The villagers... they’ve built their entire lives around harnessing them."
She blinked rapidly, trying to absorb it all.
"It’s... insane. And brilliant."
Lucy’s voice chid in, calm and precise.
"Yes. This town was established in a sli-spawn zone. The villagers have been harvesting and managing the slis for generations. Every structure, every craft, every trade relies on them as a primary resource."
Maddy’s eyes widened even further.
"So... it’s like... a farm. A whole town farming slis... for everything. Food, buildings... even architecture? That’s... that’s crazy!"
Her heart was racing. As a forr field zoologist, her eyes weren’t just seeing monsters—they were seeing a biological masterpiece. She walked deeper into the town, her notebook (her monsterpedia- and her stomach... practically trembling with excitent.
To anyone else, this was a town covered in snot; to a field zoologist, this was the most efficient closed-loop ecosystem ever recorded.
"OH MY GOD! What is that!?"
Maddy pointed to a house under repair. Instead of a mason with a hamr, a heavy, grey sli was pressed against a broken stone wall. Its body was jagged, filled with visible chunks of granite and iron ore.

Maddy gasped. The sli let out a stony grind as it hardened its outer layer, perfectly sealing the gap in the building.
"They use them for construction! If the building shakes, the sli just flexes. It’s earthquake proof architecture! WHAT THE!"
But as she turned the corner toward the town square, the heavy sll of minerals was swept away by a sudden, sharp scent of peppermint and mountain air.
Near a large public fountain, Maddy froze. Instead of pigeons or stray dogs, the gutters were filled with vibrant, translucent blue blobs. They were sliding over the trash bins, moving with a purposeful pulsing.

Maddy eyes widening as she watched a Hygiene Sli engulf a discarded, rotting fruit peel. Inside the sli’s transparent body, Maddy could see the peel being broken down by glowing, turquoise enzys.
Within seconds, the waste vanished, leaving behind only a faint, shimring bubble of oxygen. The sli then slid across a muddy patch of cobblestones, leaving the ground behind it so clean it practically mirrored the sky.
"They’re the janitors! Lucy, look! That one is sliding up the side of a tavern wall to eat the mold! And that one in the fountain—it’s not just sitting there, it’s filtering the water through its own mbrane! The entire town is being constantly sterilized."
She approached one cautiously. As she got close, the Hygiene Sli let out a soft, bubbly hum. It reached out a small, watery pseudopod and gently "tapped" the toe of her muddy boot. In a flash, the mud was gone, replaced by a polished shine that slled faintly of citrus.
"It just... it just cleaned my shoe..."
