In the end, they decided the plan was the best option. Elaine promised to handle Piggy and make her understand her position, while Gideon took care of the aftermath.

So of the n were still alive, barely clinging to life, and for so reason he felt obligated to finish them off. They would bleed out anyway, so it was better to make it quick.

After that, he moved from room to room, checking everything they had stored. Most of it was recreational junk like cigarettes, alcohol, wine, even opium and weed. There were also parts of generators and machines, a lot of cores, ammo and weapons.

"Humans never really change, huh?" he muttered, shaking his head.

There was no gold, no jewelry, nothing that would have been considered valuable in his old world.

It made him think that maybe building another faction focused on trade could actually work, since value itself had clearly shifted in this world.

Still, sothing caught his attention.

A crate filled with dical supplies. Antibiotics, NSAIDs, even opioids, all packed neatly as if they were ant to be preserved. On top of it, there was a note written in rough handwriting.

"Don’t sell this, in case that dumb doctor wants it."

Gideon paused, then took out the ledger he had taken earlier and compared the writing. It matched perfectly.

"So it was you," he murmured. "Piggy or Clara Duvont..."

He leaned back slightly, thinking about everything he had overheard between them. The past, the betrayal, the split in ideology. It was clearer now why Elaine couldn’t bring herself to kill Piggy, even if she clearly resented her.

"As long as there isn’t a second betrayal..." he muttered, closing the ledger, "it might work."

Even so, the thought of bringing soone like Piggy into his territory still didn’t sit well with him.

If she was anything like Elaine or himself, then all it would take was one opportunity like wait for Gideon out of the picture for a few hours, a handful of ard n, and everything he built could collapse overnight.

That kind of risk wasn’t sothing he could ignore.

Though his mind changed by the ti he finished cleaning up the first floor and returned, the atmosphere in the room had completely changed.

Piggy no longer looked like the sa person. Her face had turned pale, almost ghost-like, and her clothes were damp, she literally wetted herself.

The mont she saw him, her body trembled as if she had just witnessed sothing far worse than death.

"I’ll do anything you want, boss!" she blurted out, her voice shrill and broken.

Gideon stopped mid-step and looked at Elaine, genuine disbelief on his face.

"What did you do to her?"

Elaine was sitting calmly on the chair in front of Clara, looking completely relaxed, her expression almost pleased with herself.

"Nothing," she said lightly. "I didn’t hurt her at all. Look, she’s perfectly fine."

Gideon stared at her for a mont before shaking his head.

"There is definitely sothing wrong with you."

Elaine humd, unfazed, then suddenly added, "Speaking of sex... Why don’t we do it now? I don’t think it’s a bad idea anymore."

Gideon almost considered it, but Piggy’s reaction made it impossible to ignore. The woman flinched at the re suggestion, shrinking into herself as if expecting sothing worse to follow.

He let out a small sigh and glanced at her.

"You know I’m actually a decent guy, right? I don’t do anything like that without consent."

Elaine narrowed her eyes at him. "What are you talking about? And why do I feel like you refuse to have sex with ? That’s kind of rude, you know. I feel like I’m being rejected."

"Relax," Gideon replied, waving it off. "We’ll get to that later. After we clean everything up. You do realize aberrants can sll blood from miles away, right?"

Elaine rubbed her chin, studying him for a mont before nodding. "Fair point. Even if you do look good covered in blood and I think it’s hot we do it while the adrenaline in my body starts to fade."

She stood up and stretched slightly. "But you are right, let’s at least bury the bodies first."

She walked past him toward the exit, clearly in a much better mood now.

Gideon watched her for a second before following. Maybe it was just him, but Elaine seed almost... in joy after everything that had happened.

It was a little unhinged. But if he wanted to bang her, at least he needed to pretend that what she did was hot.

After a while, they realized the work was far too much. Moving bodies, digging up a really deep and big hole, and burying them would take more ti than it was worth.

Finding another location with natural cover like this, surrounded by rocks, would be far safer and seed easier. In the end, the only things that mattered were the goods and the captives.

Elaine was the one who opened the cage. Before either of them could even speak, the people inside imdiately dropped to their knees, trembling violently.

"We’ll do anything! Just don’t kill us!"

"Yes! We’ll serve you for the rest of our lives, please!"

Gideon and Elaine exchanged a glance, both caught off guard. Elaine scoffed, crossing her arms.

"What? Do you think this is the middle ages or sothing?" she muttered.

Gideon, however, understood exactly why they reacted like that.

From their perspective, two people had just wiped out an entire branch faction without hesitation, and both of them were still holding rifles.

Fear like that did not disappear just because soone told them to calm down.

Elaine, on the other hand, didn’t seem to grasp it fully. She simply gestured for them to move.

"Get out," she said.

They obeyed imdiately, stepping out of the cage while crouching, their hands placed behind their heads like criminals awaiting execution.

The child among them started crying softly, the sound muffled as the adults tried to calm them down.

Gideon sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "This feels wrong..."

He stepped forward and spoke more gently. "You can stand up. Relax. We’re not the villains here."

"Yeah," Elaine added, though her tone still carried authority rather than comfort.

"We just need you to help move everything from that building to the jeeps and trucks above. Ignore the bodies. And don’t even think about stealing anything."

The captives nodded rapidly, like bobbleheads, scrambling to their feet and rushing to follow her orders without hesitation.

Gideon glanced at her, clearly puzzled. She looked nothing like the composed doctor he was used to seeing.

Elaine caught his expression and shrugged. "Sorry. I’ve been working with Freebound’s people for too long. That’s basically how Jade talks to them."

"Maybe tone it down a bit," Gideon replied. "I want them to beco residents, not prisoners."

"Oh," she said, nodding slowly. "So you’re doing charity work again." A small grin ford on her lips. "That’s good. More future patients for ."

"Yeah, yeah. Let’s just get this done."

Gideon turned to help, figuring this was a good chance to leave a better impression on them. If he wanted them to trust him, he couldn’t let their first image of him remain as so blood-covered executioner.

Before he could take more than a few steps, Elaine called out to him.

"Hey... Gideon."

He turned back. Her voice was quiet, almost swallowed by the wind. If not for his heightened senses, he wouldn’t have heard it at all.

"Thank you," she said, avoiding his gaze. "I know I was... a bit weird today. If possible, just forget it. And don’t tell anyone about my past."

She looked... smaller sohow. Not physically, but the confidence she usually carried had cracked.

"I understand," Gideon said simply. "As long as it doesn’t cause trouble."

He paused for a mont before adding, "You’re not a bad person, Elaine. Just a bit unhinged. But in the end, you chose to help people and leave that life behind."

That was enough to make her lift her head. Her eyes widened slightly, like she hadn’t expected that answer.

Gideon could see it clearly now. She wasn’t just worried about judgnt. She was afraid of how people would see her once they knew everything. Maybe she thought they would see her as a hypocrite.

But honestly, he doubted the people close to her would care that much.

Elaine let out a small laugh, this ti lighter, more natural. "Ugh, that actually sounds nice. Thanks, Gideon."

She stepped closer, her expression shifting again, a hint of playfulness returning. "So... Do you want a kiss? I think I’m in the mood."

"Sure, but why are you suddenly this enthusiastic? You were just—"

Before he could finish, she grabbed his robe and pulled him down, pressing her lips against his.

The kiss was warm, carrying a faint tallic taste from the blood. It caught him off guard, but it made him a bit horny.

He responded instinctively, licking her lips gently, trying to pry her mouth open, only for her to suddenly stiffen when he leaned in further. She pulled back almost imdiately, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"Were you trying to use your tongue?" she asked, a bit startled.

"Well... yeah? You’re the one who pushed for it," he replied.

Elaine looked away, scratching her cheek. "I think my adrenaline just wore off. So... yeah. Never mind."

And just like that, she turned and walked off quickly, leaving him standing there.

Gideon blinked, completely thrown off.

"The hell... why are won so confusing?" he muttered under his breath before shaking his head and going back to help the others.
