Now reading: Chapter 69: Coincidence?! from Building the Strongest Pavilion in Another World, a Fantasy novel by Patience021.

This young man actually happened to be one of the assassins from the restaurant.

To make matters even stranger, a quarter of his face was covered with a thin layer of a girl’s skin mask, clearly revealing that the woman Darius had seen dancing earlier was, in reality, a man in disguise who had intended to get close to that beautiful woman.

Darius’s expression beca strange. This was truly too much of a coincidence, wasn’t it? This young man was actually hiding in his Pavilion. But after thinking about it for a mont, the deepest parts of the outer city were indeed the best place for fugitives to avoid pursuit. Moreover, this was one of the most secluded and desolate corners of the outer city, so it wasn’t really that surprising that this pair of assassins had ended up here.

He smiled calmly and said, "I do not like soone pointing a sword at ."

"Haha, even if you don’t like it, you’ll have to get used to it now!" the young man declared sowhat naively, not showing the slightest sign of being a cold-blooded assassin.

Darius stretched out a finger and pressed down on the sword’s blade.

"You have just used that linking technique. Do you even have a single percent of your battle prowess remaining?" he asked. His physical body had already far surpassed the level of the Second Realm while inside the Pavilion. Even without actively strengthening his defenses, there was no way a sword wielded by the young man could injure him.

With a flick of his finger, the sword was imdiately pushed to the side.

"This is much better."

The corners of his lips curled upward into a smile.

The young man could not hide his surprise and asked, "How did you know about the backlash?"

"That isn’t so incredible secret technique." Darius shook his head. In his previous life, he had read far too many cultivation novels featuring similar techniques. Though he only knew the general principles and drawbacks, he was still able to recognize it at a glance.

"Haha, even if we only have a single percent of our original battle prowess left, it is still more than enough to deal with a re Sixth Layer True Qi Realm cultivator like you!" the young man said stubbornly as he once again raised his sword and pointed it at Darius.

Darius laughed loudly.

"If you misbehave, I’ll pull your ears."

"Die!"

The handso face of the young man turned red with embarrassnt as his sword suddenly shot forward in attack.

If the young man’s battle prowess had not declined, Darius truly would not have dared receive the attack head-on. After all, although the latter was far below him in cultivation compared to the Third Realm strength granted by the System, Darius had no idea what kind of desperate trump cards the two assassins might possess. However, after using that secret technique, the young man probably did not even have a thousandth of his original battle prowess remaining, let alone a full percent.

Furthermore, Darius realized that he genuinely enjoyed fighting. It brought him a strange sense of excitent and satisfaction that made his blood race. Simply put, no matter what, he wanted to take this sword head-on.

"Peng! Peng! Peng!"

After a few punches from Darius, the sword was sent flying from the young man’s hands.

"Ding!"

The sword stabbed firmly into the ground, swaying from side to side.

"Will you only behave after losing a limb?" Darius deliberately put on a stern expression.

The young man’s face turned pale with fear.

Why was he so unlucky?

This was his first mission, yet it had ended in complete failure. Moreover, he had barely escaped one dangerous situation only to stumble directly into another.

Whoosh!

Another figure suddenly flew out.

It was the old man, the other assassin.

As his hands moved, the strings of the musical instrunt danced through the air like silk threads, winding toward Darius.

"Old man, although I respect my elders, if you insist on flaunting your seniority before , then I won’t be polite either!" Darius declared as he used his fists to parry the incoming attacks.

Thanks to his powerful physique and astonishing defenses, the threads that should have been capable of slicing through tal could do absolutely nothing against his bare fists.

The young man also recovered his sword and joined the battle. The two moved with perfect coordination, and when they combined forces, their collective battle prowess increased by far more than rely double. However, because their strength had already suffered such a severe decline and because they were facing soone with Third Realm strength like Darius, they remained completely suppressed despite fighting together.

The two assassins could not help but feel astonished.

Even after suffering such a drastic reduction in strength, if they joined forces, they should still have been capable of dominating any cultivator at the Ninth Layer of the Acupoint Qi Realm. Yet the young man standing before them was monstrously strong. Not only had he resisted them, but he had completely turned the tables and suppressed them instead.

"If you misbehave, you’ll get thrashed!" Darius’s foot shot forward and landed directly on the young man’s backside, sending him flying several ters away. At the sa ti, he threw a punch toward the old man’s chest, forcing him backward as well.

However, after throwing that punch, Darius’s expression beca sowhat strange. There was sothing off about that feeling. He walked toward the old man, who was already sprawled on the ground and only capable of groaning in pain.

Darius reached down and touched the old man’s face.

Rip!

A thin mask was suddenly torn away.

The old man’s appearance changed drastically in an instant, revealing an angry yet beautiful young face underneath.

No wonder.

Darius finally understood.

Just monts ago, he had been wondering how there could be such a large age gap between this pair of assassins. After all, assassinations were fraught with danger, and strong trust between partners was one of the most valuable qualities an assassin could possess.

Yet the woman’s next words imdiately left him speechless.

A cold glint flashed through his eyes.
