Having said that, the crowd outside dispersed rapidly.
The green shadow quickly arrived next to Jane Sampson and Coco Edwards. After observing the situation inside the car, one of the team mbers spoke up to comfort them, saying, "Don’t be afraid, we’ll rescue you out of there imdiately."
In Jane’s eyes, tears began to inexplicably well up.
"I’m not afraid." Jane smiled at them.
"I recognize you, you’re the Monkey King of Sampton!" a young team mber suddenly exclaid.
A gush of blood surged to Jane’s throat, as she wondered whether she should thank the child for recognizing her or correct the mistaken identity.
"Monkey King, you’re really brave!" The young team mber evidently didn’t notice Jane’s stiff expression and continued to praise her with a chuckle.
anwhile, the person assessing Coco’s condition turned back to Jane and said, "The lady in front seems to be quite severely injured. We’ll rescue you first and then retrieve the tools to help her. The guard team and police are already working together to clear the village road. The ambulance should be able to get through soon. Don’t be afraid, she’s still alive for now."
Yet, by saying ’she’s still alive for now,’ it seed only to make Jane more anxious.
The car was badly damaged, and Jane was injured by glass shards as she was being rescued. She stood next to the wreckage, unable to take her eyes off Coco inside the car, watching the team mbers as they administered first aid and tried to stop the bleeding.
About five minutes later, the team mber who had left to get tools returned, driving back. With tools in hand, they called for Jane to move aside and began the rescue operation for Coco.
Shivering uncontrollably, Jane stood by the side of the green off-road vehicle, trembling as she listened to the sounds coming from across the way. She was truly terrified, fearful that the team mbers would turn around and tell her, "Sorry, we’ve done all we could."
"Jane?" The person inside the car looked several tis to ensure he hadn’t mistaken her identity, then lowered the window and called out to her to confirm once more.
Upon hearing the voice, Jane slowly turned to look back, and upon seeing who was in the car, she was surprised.
"Uncle Carter?" Jane gasped, "What are you doing here?"
The man in the team uniform inside the car was none other than Jas Carter’s father.
"I ca over after the guard team received the report of the incident here," Father Carter got out of the car and reached out to support Jane, "Get into the car and rest for a bit. It should be resolved quickly over there. Don’t worry, the road is almost clear now."
"Uncle Carter, how did you manage to drive here?" Jane asked instinctively.
If the road had only just been mostly cleared, then how did the guard team’s vehicles get through?
After asking, she t Father Carter’s half-smiling expression, and it dawned on Jane that perhaps there was a guard team based near the village, unbeknownst to the villagers.
Indeed, so secret guard teams were very concealed, with entrances unknown to anyone.
The guard team’s location might have another secret path leading to the village, unknown to all.
The police station’s director must have been aware of this, so upon learning of the life-threatening situation here, he notified the nearby guard team. Since they weren’t far away, it didn’t take the guard team long to arrive.
Jane had initially thought that when the person on the phone said they would notify the guard team, it was because a helicopter could be mobilized.
But now, it seed that wasn’t the case.
"Sorry, Uncle Carter, forget I asked," Jane hurriedly apologized. Such matters were confidential, and she shouldn’t have inquired about them.
