"Hehe." Jane Sampson’s eyes glead as she blinked at Jas Black.
"What did you promise just now?" Jas asked.
"To only drink half a bottle." Jane replied earnestly, then poked the bottle and whispered in defense, "Half a bottle isn’t up yet."
One asked, one answered, the couple seed oblivious to their surroundings.
Jillian Carter gently bit her lip, then finally looked at Jane Sampson, "This is Mr. Black’s wife?"
"Mm." It was only then that Jas responded to Jillian.
"May I be so bold as to ask how long you two have been married?" Jillian seed completely unaware that as a stranger, her question was sowhat impolite.
At this point in the conversation, Jas couldn’t hide his displeasure, his voice chilling slightly, "I have no interest in showing my private life to a stranger, you’ve crossed a line."
Four straightforward words, without a shred of courtesy.
Jillian’s expression froze on the spot, and it took her a while to recover.
"Sorry." Jillian’s voice softened considerably as she hesitated for two seconds before asking, "Did Mr. Black and Miss Sampson just arrive in King Town? Mr. Black, would you mind sharing your phone number with ? I have been living in King Town for several years, and I would like to extend the hospitality of a landlord to my lifesaver. Consider it a chance for to repay my debt."
"It’s not convenient," Jas replied before picking up the chopsticks again to serve Jane so vegetables, "They’re done, eat quickly before the at gets tough."
"If it’s tough, I’ll give it to you," Jane blurted out.
Jas couldn’t help but laugh at that, raising his hand to ruffle Jane’s head, "I owe you one."
Without having to utter a word of dismissal, the two of them made it quite clear that they expected Jillian to take a hint and leave by themselves.
Jillian stood there for just a few seconds before biting her teeth and turning back upstairs.
Sister Shaw had a complex expression as she saw Jillian returning, unable to tell whether she was relieved or sighed.
After Jillian went back to the private room, she sat down in low spirits, "I never expected him to be so indifferent and rude, to not give any face at all."
"Old Young told he’s a cold man, he’s always been like that to people he doesn’t find important. Don’t take it to heart," Sister Shaw comforted her.
But it was that very phrase, "soone he doesn’t find important," that made Jillian feel worse.
"Sister Shaw, he saved my life. Later, I have always been looking for him, searching by all ans possible," Jillian took a deep breath, "Sister Shaw, you have his contact information, right? Can you please give his phone number?"
"Jillian, I really can’t agree to that request. You know, he’s a guard, and I can’t just give his contact information to anyone," Sister Shaw said. "He is your lifesaver, but you should have already thanked him when you went downstairs earlier, right? You’re a girl, and it wouldn’t be appropriate to contact him privately. After all, he is a married man now. Jillian, do you understand what I an?"
Jillian sat there quietly without responding, her face sullen. Her favorite hotpot, which she was eating, suddenly lost all its flavor.
"I understand," Jillian answered disconsolately.
anwhile, in the courtyard, after the others had left, Jane Sampson leaned forward with both hands on the table, propping up her cheeks, and stared intently at Jas Black.
