After finishing her sentence, Jane Sampson shifted over in the bed, making a small space, and then looked up at Jas Black, tapping the spot she had freed, "You didn’t get any rest last night either, so I’ll share so space for you to co up and sleep with for a while."
Jas Black was quite surprised that Jane was being so generous towards him.
The hospital bed wasn’t big, just a 1.2-ter-wide single bed. With Jas Black’s tall fra and long limbs, he could take up two-thirds of it when lying down.
Jas Black initially wanted to say he didn’t need it, that going a night without rest was a piece of cake for him. Whether he was going out for tasks or during team performances, it was quite common for him not to sleep for days at a ti.
But since this was the first ti Jane had been so generous in inviting him, after so thought, Jas Black took off his shoes and lay down in the bed.
Just as Jas Black had anticipated, as soon as he lay down, the bed, which had seed quite spacious for Jane, instantly beca cramped.
What surprised Jas Black even more was that before he could even reach out to pull her into his arms, Jane slowly scooted over on her own and suddenly wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her entire face in the center of his chest.
"The bed is too small, so let’s just hold each other for a while. I’ll let go once I wake up," Jane’s voice was sowhat muffled as if she was explaining her actions.
Even though the reason sounded quite sensible, Jas Black was still so shocked that he froze for a good few seconds before responding.
"Sleep," Jas Black gently placed one hand on Jane’s waist.
Maybe it was an illusion, but it seed like Jane had slimd down a bit after not seeing her for over half a month. Probably because she was not accustod to the food and accommodations outside of her ho region and had not taken good care of herself, wearing herself thin.
The small city hospital wasn’t very busy with patients, and even though it was a double-occupancy room, the other bed was empty.
Two people squeezed onto a narrow sickbed inside a quiet room. As the temperature outside rose, the room gradually beca warr and stuffier.
The person in Jas Black’s arms had been quiet for a long ti, and he thought Jane must have fallen asleep. However, a while later, Jas Black suddenly realized that the part of his shirt where her face was buried, right against his chest, had sohow beco wet.
Had she been crying?
When he realized this, Jas Black didn’t know how to describe the feeling in his heart at that instant; it was as if he had been struck hard in the heart center.
He had thought she was sleeping peacefully.
Yet, it seed as though she was holding onto him and secretly crying.
"Jane?" Jas Black called out softly, very gently saying her na.
"I’m not crying!"
Before he could say anything else, the person in his arms answered back with an unmistakably nasal tone.
"Then what’s this on my shirt?" Jas Black asked.
The woman with her face buried in his chest was silent for a few seconds, then deliberately sniffed, and responded, "Snot."
Jas Black’s expression was priceless for a mont; Jane Sampson was indeed Jane Sampson, always finding a way to infuriate him beyond asure, making him want to lift her off the bed and throw her out the door.
Perhaps afraid that Jas Black wouldn’t believe her, Jane emphasized with a heavy nasal voice, "It’s snot! I’m not crying!"
"You sure you don’t know yourself if you’ve been crying?" Jas Black replied, almost laughing, but ultimately didn’t push away the little dark head against his chest.
