"Just walking, and I’m about to die from anger. Sooner or later, you’re going to drive to my grave!" Jane Sampson muttered all the way as she walked, without giving Jas Black a break. "Can’t you make so concessions? Can’t you be a little nicer to ? Do you know how hard it was for to get here? What if I get sick from being mad at you? Are you going to fix ?"
She spoke in short bursts, nodding her head forcefully with each sentence.
From the back, she looked like a teacher lecturing a guilty student.
Old Master Black followed behind, amused by the scene.
"Isn’t it? I told you all, in the end, Jas Black would be carrying Jane the girl and taking the right path. I know that kid’s temper too well. The more he denies her, the more Jane will stubbornly oppose him, even provoking the rebel in him." Old Master Black watched the commotion with delight.
"I don’t think either of them is actually mad at each other. Although Jane deliberately annoys him afterward, jumping back and forth on this bridge in front of him, after she’s done teasing him, when Jas goes to take her hand, she doesn’t shake him off." Jas Carter softly responded to Old Master Black’s words, "Seeing them like this makes others envious."
No fights could separate them, no tantrums could make them leave.
After fighting and quarreling, they’re still walking hand in hand.
No matter how much they argue, it never really affects their feelings for each other. Instead, these little spats make their lives more vivid and alive.
"Envious? Then you should find yourself a wife who will tease you like that and still cling to you." Old Master Black turned to Jas Carter. "The biggest fear is giving up on yourself. You’re still young, with a long road ahead. If you see sothing you want, buy it. If you et the person you want, go after them. Hesitation will cost you. By the ti you’ve walked far enough, the stuff will belong to soone else, and so will the person."
Jas Carter replied with a nod and a small smile, choosing not to say more.
Granny Carter watched Jas Carter’s deanor with a sigh of regret.
She turned to look at Jane Sampson ahead, unable to stop herself from thinking.
What if Jane Sampson hadn’t been lost, if she hadn’t left the Carter Family, and grew up here every day.
If not for the hospital mix-up, Jillian Carter wouldn’t have co into this family.
With Jas Carter doting on his sister, and Jane Sampson being so sensible, the Carter Family should have been harmonious.
There wouldn’t have been that accident in the past, and Jas Carter wouldn’t have lost the ability to run freely.
If he hadn’t lost his leg, he wouldn’t have given up on Mandy Forest.
After all these years, he might have already married Mandy Forest; maybe kids would be calling Granny Carter great-grandma by now.
But nowadays, Mandy Forest is already married, and Jas Carter remains stuck, unable to retrace his steps, even summoning his courage.
Each ti Granny Carter thinks of this, her resentnt towards Jillian Carter increases.
The thought of Jillian Carter making such a huge mistake without remorse and failing to improve only adds to Granny Carter’s disappointnt.
Granny Carter doesn’t understand whether it was the Carter Family’s failure to teach the child right, or if the child was born so indifferent.
The guide girl was especially pleased that at the end of the two-day, one-night schedule, she gathered her courage to ask for a group photo with Jane Sampson and the others. She thought she would likely be rejected, but unexpectedly Jane Sampson and Jas Carter agreed.
The little miss, along with Gwendolyn Young and two others, posed for a group photo at the foot of the mountain. The little miss was surrounded by her idols, filled with happiness, positioned in the middle, with Jane Sampson and Gwendolyn Young on the left, and Jas Carter on the right.
