The people chatting didn’t notice Jillian Carter and Joseph Shaw standing right behind them.
Hearing these words, Jillian Carter, in anger, lifted her foot to charge forward.
But Joseph was faster, reaching out to grab her and pulling her straight out of the main gate.
The commotion startled those young girls. They turned around to see Jillian Carter staring at them fiercely, as if she was going to devour them, struggling to break free from Joseph’s grip.
"What do we do? She overheard what we said?"
"So what if she heard? I’ve heard from my parents that Old Sir Carter and Granny Carter haven’t liked Jillian Carter, this granddaughter, for a long ti. What’s a counterfeit going to do to us?"
"Besides, what I said is the truth. What? You can’t even tell the truth these days? Did you see how Joseph dragged her away just now? She doesn’t even have the guts to cause a scene."
Joseph pulled hard, dragging Jillian Carter out through the door.
Fortunately, Jillian Carter still cared about her reputation. Despite struggling, she didn’t shout or scream.
Not until they reached an empty corner did Jillian fiercely shake off Joseph’s hand.
"Let go! I want to teach them a lesson!" Jillian said, her eyes red with anger, "I want to tear these hypocrites apart! Back then, they were the ones circling around ! I didn’t ask them to! What makes them better than Jillian Carter? When I was in power, they couldn’t wait to cling to like lapdogs, so why can they criticize ?"
"How are you going to teach them a lesson? Go, I’m not stopping you. Go," Joseph said. "Try causing a scene and see if you’ll aggravate your grandparents to the point of being hospitalized. See if you’ll get kicked out of this house by making a fuss!"
Joseph hissed, "Do you not know what today is? Do you think today is a day you can throw a tantrum? The family banquet prepared ticulously by the four seniors, if you make a fuss, have you thought about how your parents would feel?"
"Getting portrayed as the Carter family’s real daughter and foster daughter being at odds, how does that benefit you, Jillian Carter?" Joseph asked again, "What did I tell you when we went out?"
Jillian Carter gritted her teeth tightly, her tears falling one by one.
"She’s taken everything away. As soon as she ca back, I had nothing left. But I still have to smile and speak kindly to her, smile and welco her back, I can’t do it!" Jillian squatted down and started crying, "Joseph, I just can’t swallow this."
"Even if you can’t swallow it, you have to, Jillian Carter. Jane Sampson isn’t wrong, don’t you understand? What the Carter family owes her, you owe her too," Joseph said. "She’s not taking away your stuff; she’s rely reclaiming what’s rightfully hers, that’s all."
