"Ms. Little, hello, Jane has been under your care for many years, and I can’t thank you enough." Jas Black took the initiative to reach out and shake hands with Ms. Little. It turned out Jas really knew Ms. Little because Jane Sampson would sotis ntion her.
Before marriage, and after, he had heard Jane speak of her. After all, Ms. Little taught Jane a great deal.
As for Jas Carter.
Hmph.
Jas Black stood there, looking indifferent. He hadn’t intended on greeting Jas Carter, but Jane kept giving him insistent looks, almost to the point where Jas thought Jane’s eyes might cramp up. That’s when he turned to Jas Carter and said indifferently, "Hello."
"Hello." Jas Carter didn’t know why Jas Black’s attitude toward him was so different from his attitude toward Ms. Little, but he didn’t give it much thought since it was their first eting.
After a courteous handshake, they let go, and Jas Carter smiled, "Can I guess your occupation? If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Black, you’re a guard, right?"
"You know?" Jas Black was sowhat surprised.
"Soone in my family is a guard, so my first thought upon seeing Mr. Black was that you both have a similar air about you. It seems I guessed right," Jas Carter explained.
"Mr. Carter, you’re really amazing," Jane couldn’t help but praise. "He is a guard!"
The corners of Jas Carter’s lips gently curved, "Being a guard is good."
Jas Black raised his eyebrows and gave a grunt, then gently patted Jane’s head with his palm before asking, "Finished eating, ready to go?"
"Yeah." Jane nodded and giggled as she tentatively asked, "Going shopping later?"
"We’ll drop the two teachers off first, then I’ll go get the car." Jas Black’s hand moved from Jane’s head and took hers into his palm.
Jane nodded, feeling a tad surprised in her heart. Was this guy suddenly so easy to talk to?
He ca out not wearing a frown, looking like he was in a good mood, in fact.
At the doorway, Jane and Jas Black ordered a car for Mr. Carter and Ms. Little and watched them leave before heading to the parking lot. Once they got in the car, Jas Black turned on the air conditioner straight away—this season’s afternoon temperature outside was almost unbearable.
Once Jane was in the car, she had the ti to check her mobile phone. First, she saw two missed calls from Peter Gingery. She didn’t call back imdiately, instead, she opened WhatsApp and was completely astonished to find a sea of unread ssages.
And Jas Black’s was right at the front.
After reading the ssages from Jas Black, Jane turned and looked at him, now driving, and after a mont’s thought, she still offered a complint, "Jas, you are really nice."
"That sentence isn’t worth much coming from you," Jas scoffed as he turned the car, heading toward their destination.
Although he was apparently disparaging Jane’s words as aningless, the corners of Jas’s lips still rose slightly.
"You seed to enjoy the al with them?" Jas casually asked.
"Yeah." Jane’s eyes sparkled as she smiled, "It’s a pity they have plans this afternoon, or I would love to chat with them the entire afternoon."
"Hmph." Jas let out a brief snort, clearly not too pleased with Jane’s response.
Jane pursed her lips, too lazy to argue with Jas, and clicked on Peter Gingery’s ssages, only to find a string of emoticons from him. It took her going through over a dozen emoticons to find a sentence amongst them.
