Jas Black had wanted to find an opportunity to ask Jane Sampson where she went this morning and what she had done, but before he even had the chance to ask, Jane brought it up herself.
Although Jas disliked Alexander Forest’s chattering, he nonetheless enjoyed Jane’s prattle, whether she talked about trivial matters or discussed sothing more serious. Even though Jas rarely joined in the conversation or responded, he listened carefully to every word she said.
Jane was in a good mood during lunch, her smile never leaving her face, and the tone of her voice was light and cheerful. While eating, she looked over at the roses on the chair beside her countless tis.
Whenever she glanced over there, then looked back at Jas, the smile on her face would inevitably beco even brighter and more radiant than just monts before.
After the al, Jane began to clean up the bowl and chopsticks while saying to Jas, "It seems that tomorrow is the first ti you’re due for a reexamination at the hospital. How about I accompany you there early in the morning?"
Before Jas could respond, Jane suddenly bent down and, without any warning, kissed Jas on the face, then burst into giggles as she carried the bowl and chopsticks into the kitchen.
Jas sat there stunned for a few seconds, and by the ti he snapped out of it and looked towards the kitchen, he could faintly hear Jane humming a tuneless song, her mood clearly joyful.
At this mont, Jas suddenly felt that Jane was easy to please and made one’s heart ache for her.
It seed as though she was always carefully restraining her temper, as if afraid that any show of her moodiness or caprice might make her lose sothing.
Washing dishes for two wasn’t more than a three-minute chore. By the ti Jas had drifted off into thought, Jane had already erged from the kitchen.
The first thing she did after finishing housework was to run to the dining hall—not to look for Jas but to pick up the bouquet, which was sowhat heavy for her.
"It’s such a waste to just leave these flowers like this. I’m going to take apart the bouquet and arrange them in vases, is that alright?" Jane had already picked up the bouquet, ready to go upstairs, when at the last mont she turned back and tentatively asked Jas for permission.
"They were given to you, so you can decide what to do with them," Jas nodded.
After hearing Jas’s response, Jane confidently went upstairs, and Jas didn’t continue to sit idly in the dining hall but followed Jane to the master bedroom balcony.
Since the villa was uninhabited most of the ti, there weren’t many vases to be found. Jane ended up using even beverage bottles and mineral water bottles, but still could not fit all the flowers in water.
Eventually, even the pen holder in the study could not escape the fate of having two or three roses inserted by Jane.
All around the villa, in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and along the staircase handrails, one could see glimpses of roses.
Perhaps it was the good locations Jane found, but this decoration throughout didn’t seem tacky or excessive; instead, it seed to add so liveliness to the house.
During the whole process, Jas followed her, watching as she busily went about her task. Even with the air conditioner on, Jane managed to work up a sweat running up and down the house.
But seeing Jane so happy with the setup, Jas didn’t say anything.
It was only when Jane tied the remaining few roses with a rope to hang them upside down in a cool and well-ventilated spot, Jas finally asked, puzzled, "Is hanging flowers upside down so kind of decorative art?"
