Every word from Jas Black was not exactly gentle, but still, Jane Sampson couldn’t help shedding tears.
"Then, can you like forever, like for a very long ti, and only stop liking when I’m dead?" Jane Sampson asked softly through her sobs, "Won’t you like for a while and then stop liking ? Jas Black, I’m afraid, I’m scared that one day, you’ll suddenly stop liking ."
"No," Jas Black replied with certainty.
"When I was a child, daddy and mommy both liked a lot, but their affection was only temporary. When Julie Sampton ca back, they stopped liking , and my grandparents also really liked before, but when Julie ca back, she stole their affection too. When I was in school, the teacher said that our parents, our relatives, are the people in this world who will always like us, but for many years, I couldn’t understand why my daddy and mommy couldn’t be like that. Why did my daddy and mommy, my family, one day, suddenly beco soone else’s daddy and mommy?"
Jane Sampson sobbed quietly, "Jas Black, I will be very greedy. If you like , you have to like forever and ever."
"And, you can only like ," Jane Sampson continued through her tears.
Without hearing an answer from Jas Black, Jane Sampson’s crying gradually ceased. When she spoke again, her voice carried a hint of grievance, "Otherwise, it’s okay if you like just for a while, the kind that lasts a bit longer. But when the day cos that you no longer like , you have to tell , okay? I won’t cling to you, I won’t make you hate ."
In a room without light, on a sumr night where stars and moon could not be found, the dimly lit room saw Jane Sampson sitting in the bed, unable to suppress the emotions welling up from within.
All her vulnerabilities, at that mont, in front of him, were being laid bare, little by little, by herself.
It wasn’t for the want of continuing to hide them, but his simple affirmation tore down all her defenses in an instant.
He said yes.
Yes, he could like only her, Jane Sampson.
Jas Black said he could like only the person that is Jane Sampson.
In that mont, in Jane Sampson’s heart, there was only that one sentence.
In her ears, was the sound of Jane Sampson’s crying, low, clearly trying to muffle it.
The room was too dark for Jas Black to see her tears, yet he could feel them falling, drop by drop, as if they were landing on his chest.
After a long ti, Jas Black sighed silently.
"Jane Sampson, no crying," Jas Black said.
"I’m not crying," Jane Sampson replied with a tearful voice, even as she reached to wipe the tears from the corner of her eyes.
She was as dishonest as ever.
Jas Black said gently, "Jane Sampson, co over for a hug."
After waiting a few seconds and seeing no movent from Jane Sampson, Jas Black spoke again, "Jane Sampson, I can’t co to hug you, so I’m going to count to three, and you have to co into my arms by yourself."
"One..."
"Two..."
Before he could say three, a soft, delicate woman had already hugged him from behind.
Her hands tightly encircled his waist from behind, her face rested against his back, her shoulders quivering intermittently.
With just a turn of his head, he could sll the fragrance of her hair.
Jas Black thought, next ti, perhaps he could give her perfu.
He liked the idea of her being surrounded by things he gave her, including her scent.
