"It’s always a ss," Jas Black chuckled, his broad palm gently patting Jane Sampson on the forehead. Seeing that it was about ti, he finally opened the door and left.
The door locked with a soft clang, and Jane Sampson imdiately sat up straight in the Bed, cupping her face with both hands, which felt burning hot.
Lately, why had Jas Black developed this annoying habit of kissing and hugging so frequently?
In her previous life, until her death, Jas Black never held her so domineeringly and kissed her.
And when sleeping at night, he had never so shalessly clung to her in bed.
After leaving the hotel, Jas Black took a cab straight to the city bureau. It was early morning, with few cars and people on the road, so there was no traffic jam. He arrived early. There were two breakfast stalls already set up on the narrow street outside the city bureau. Jas Black ordered a bowl of porridge and found a seat, then took out his phone to call Peter Gingery and the others.
The phone had been in his trouser pocket ever since Jane Sampson had helped him put it there on the express train yesterday, and he hadn’t taken it out since.
As the mobile phone screen lit up, Jas Black’s indifferent gaze fixed on the photo on the screen after unlocking the phone.
Despite the person in the photo making a funny face, Jas Black imdiately recognized that it was Jane Sampson.
"Heh," Jas Black chuckled in a deep voice, gently touching the screen with his thumb.
She always had a way of surprising him.
So, had she secretly switched it on the express train yesterday?
Why?
Did she hope that every ti he used his phone, he would see the photo and think of her, his wife?
Did she feel he was neglecting her too much?
"Brother, what are you looking at?" Peter Gingery suddenly popped up from behind Jas Black, slapped his shoulder, leaned over and peered at Jas Black’s phone screen, and burst into laughter, "How ugly Jane Sampson is! Brother, why would you use such an ugly photo of her as your wallpaper?"
Peter Gingery was oblivious to the fact that his comnt had darkened the expression on Jas Black’s face. He took out his phone, opened Jas Black’s WhatsAPP space, and said, "The other photos you posted on Myspace last night look better than this one!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than Peter Gingery shook his head and asked with certainty, "Brother, these photos couldn’t have been uploaded by you, right?"
Peter Gingery felt that, judging by the captions alone, he had reason to suspect that this self-loving act must have been done by Jane Sampson.
Overnight, there were already hundreds of likes underneath that mont, and the comnts were exploding with several hundred ssages. Inside the comnt section, a group of bickering people were arguing whether their Chief Black’s WhatsAPP account had been hacked or infected with a virus.
The avatar had been changed to so beautiful girl’s photo, and a mont was posted in Myspace — how could that possibly be sothing Chief Black, the Cold-faced King, would do?
Only after looking at Peter Gingery’s phone did Jas Black realize that last night Jane Sampson had not only changed his mobile phone wallpaper but also tampered with his WhatsAPP.
Upon opening it, he saw several photos of Jane Sampson—so were selfies, others were full-body shots taken by soone unknown, but each one was exceptionally beautiful.
Jas Black didn’t even look at the comnts underneath the mont. After saving those photos, he imdiately deleted the mont, then uploaded the saved photos to his album and set them to be visible to himself only.
"Brother, aren’t you going to change your avatar back?"
Knowing that Jas Black’s phone must have fallen into Jane Sampson’s hands for her to have played such a prank, Peter Gingery watched Jas Black’s flurry of activity. "Why should I change it?" Jas Black retorted with a rhetorical question. Seeing Peter Gingery scratching his head without an answer, he continued, "It’s quite beautiful."
If she liked it, then let it be.
