Jas Black’s words struck Jane Sampson’s heart like a thunderbolt.
Jane stood there completely dumbfounded, her hand stretched out to protect her food, suspended in mid-air, forgetting to move the vegetables to her side.
"You..." Jane blinked her eyes, "what did you say just now?"
"If you didn’t hear clearly, I can say it again," Jas said softly, with a hint of a laugh, "If it weren’t for the fear of upsetting you, I would definitely have you join the team. I want to see you every day, at all tis."
This explanation was more straightforward than the last.
Jane thought that the most direct Jas had ever been was when he had admitted his feelings for her before, but she had not expected he could be even more direct in expressing how much he cared for her.
"You?" Jane’s face turned slightly red, "You like that much?"
"Yes."
!!!
He actually admitted it!
Jas Black actually admitted it!
Jane’s heart thudded wildly in her chest.
No!
She had to calm it down quickly!
She couldn’t let him know how elated she was, her tail nearly wagging!
"So, Jane Sampson, don’t even think about it for two or three months," Jas finished speaking and then gently tapped on the back of Jane’s hand that was protecting the vegetables, "move it."
Jane slowly withdrew her hand, a small smile gradually spreading across her face.
Growing bigger and clearer.
Jas looked up at the woman across from him, who was clearly very pleased with herself.
Jas’s expression cooled slightly.
She was the one hugging him, saying, "Jas, you’re so nice," and she was the one always hugging and kissing him all day long. But, it seed to him that there was not a single sign that Jane missed him at all.
Two or three months, saying goodbye without a hint of reluctance.
Really...
Needed to be taken care of.
During the rest of the al, Jas gradually beca colder and did not speak another word.
After the al, Jane cleaned up the bowls and chopsticks and washed them in the kitchen, while Jas stood at the doorway, his gaze fixed on sothing. Jane turned her head towards the doorway and t Jas’s gloomy face.
In her heart, she muttered, this guy, suddenly, is not happy again.
"Jas," Jane called out tentatively to the person in the doorway.
As expected, the person at the doorway just glanced at her and made no attempt to engage with her.
When Jas was displeased, he had this cold, unapproachable look about him.
But still, he glanced at her.
"What are you doing standing over there? Shouldn’t you be watching the news at this ti?" Jane, with her apron still on, turned and faced Jas as she asked. Before, after dinner at this ti, he would always be watching the evening news without fail.
Instead of answering Jane, Jas walked in, poured himself a cup of cool boiled water, and stood rigidly behind Jane. With one hand holding the cup, he drank the water and fixed his gaze directly on Jane’s face.
Jane felt so unnerved by Jas’s stare that she quickly turned her back on him and continued washing her dishes.
She kept an eye on the movents behind her, and only when she placed the last plate on the shelf did Jas suddenly put his cup back in its place and leave the kitchen.
Jane looked down at the cup he had left; he had poured half a cup, and now half remained. So, maybe, he had just taken a lick?
By the ti Jane ca out of the kitchen, Jas was already sitting on the sofa in the living room, with the TV opposite him playing the news.
