Gu Anxi gave a slight smile, glancing at her young uncle, Bo Xichen.
Bo Xichen reached out to pat her head, exchanged a few words with Wang Keru, and then took Gu Anxi back to Si Garden.
By the ti they returned to Si Garden, it was already late. The mont she entered, the petite woman kicked off her shoes, ran to the sofa, and flopped down, feigning exhaustion. "I’m dead beat."
A pair of large hands landed gently on her shoulders, followed by a warm breath. She tilted her head up, gazing at him with a sowhat dazed look, and called out to him like a kitten.
Bo Xichen pulled her into his arms, gently massaging her shoulders. She leaned comfortably against his shoulder, a hint of coquettishness in her deanor. After a long while, he asked softly, "Feeling better now?"
She humd in response. "Much better."
Bo Xichen leaned closer. "So, should we get down to so serious business?"
The petite woman imdiately stamred, her face flushing, "Wh-what serious business?"
His eyes were clear and bright as his slender fingers dangerously pinched her small cheek. "Still pretending?"
She imdiately let out a huge yawn. "I’m so sleepy."
Gazing at the faint shadows under her eyes, his heart instantly softened. With a faint smile, he said, "I’ll tuck you in."
Picking her up, he headed towards the bedroom. Resting on his shoulder, the petite woman murmured, slightly embarrassed, "Uncle, doing this makes feel like a little baby."
"You always have been," he said, looking down at her with a soft, gentle smile.
In others’ eyes, Anxi might be the formidable CEO Little Gu, Dr. Gu, or King Jingyao’s favorite younger sister. But to him, she was just a little kid, a little baby.
Gu Anxi hadn’t actually been very sleepy—she was just playing dumb—but the mont her head hit the pillow, drowsiness truly overca her. She lay there obediently, her face buried in the white pillow, and quickly fell asleep.
"And she says she isn’t!" Bo Xichen smiled faintly as he tucked her in, sitting by her side for a while before going to the study to see Bo Nianyao.
Despite the late hour, Bo Nianyao hadn’t gone to bed yet; he seed to be waiting for him in the study.
Seeing Bo Xichen enter, he smiled faintly. "You’re back?"
He glanced behind Bo Xichen. "Where’s the kid?"
"She fell asleep," Bo Xichen said with a smile. He then made his father a cup of tea, and they sat down together on the sofa. He tilted his head. "You seem to have sothing on your mind, Dad?"
Bo Nianyao looked down at the steam rising from the hot tea, remaining silent for a long ti before speaking in a hoarse voice, "Xichen, how are things with Shen Wanqing?"
Bo Xichen knew this topic would lead to further discussion. After a slight pause, he replied, "She was indeed kidnapped. Chen Ming is investigating."
"And what’s your take on it?" Bo Nianyao asked, taking a sip of tea, his tone seemingly nonchalant.
Bo Xichen smiled. "What do you think, Father?"
Bo Nianyao gently set down his cup, his gaze fixed on the lamp on the mahogany table, his expression sowhat dazed. "We’ve known each other for many years. I never doubted him, nor did I ever imagine such a possibility. Xichen, he has everything—reputation, wealth, he lacks nothing. Why would he do such a thing?"
Bo Xichen knew that his father could only confide these thoughts in him. To Father, that person was as dear as family, his importance no less than Second Uncle’s. And now, important people were leaving Father’s side one by one; this would be a huge blow to him too.
Bo Xichen remained silent for a mont, then said in a low voice, "Do you want to..."
Bo Nianyao gently waved his hand, leaned back against the chair, and gave a wan smile. "Let’s see what Mr. Wang suggests."
Bo Xichen offered so comfort, "From what I see, Mr. Wang is currently issuing a warning, intending for the other party to back down. After all, too many relationships are involved. It’s just unclear what their attitude will be."
Hearing this, Bo Nianyao seed to feel a little better. After a long pause, he spoke in a hoarse voice, "I’ll talk to him tomorrow. After knowing each other for so long, I should at least do sothing."
Bo Xichen nodded.
When he returned to the Orchid Room, he was surprised to find Gu Anxi gone. The large white bed was empty, showing only the traces of her having slept there. He was startled for a mont, then imdiately realized where she must have gone...
He quickly went to find Bo Nianyao. Bo Nianyao, who was about to sleep, looked surprised to see his son arrive so late. "Xichen, what brings you here?"
Bo Xichen said in a low voice, "Anxi went to see him."
Bo Nianyao imdiately threw on a jacket. "I’ll go with you."
Bo Xichen nodded.
Father and son imdiately set out, heading straight for Mr. He’s residence.
「Deep into the night.」
Inside an elegant residence, Gu Anxi and Mr. He sat facing each other in a Japanese-style room. An incense burner on a low table emitted a faint, fragrant smoke.
Both sipped their tea, neither speaking.
After a long silence, Mr. He finally looked up, his shrewd eyes betraying a hint of weariness. "How did you figure out it was ?"
Gu Anxi spoke very softly, "During the incident with the stolen cultural relics in France, you shouldn’t have appeared."
Mr. He smiled faintly. "How so?"
"That ti, it was a mission Min Xin assigned to Beauty. It had nothing to do with Bo Qing. As the ’Painter,’ your appearance there was, in itself, a BUG. Besides..." Gu Anxi lowered her eyes. "I saw you fight Beauty that ti. She was no match for you at all, yet you were the one who ended up injured."
Mr. He smiled faintly. "It was my carelessness. But child, why didn’t you say anything back then?"
"Because I wasn’t certain at the ti. And..." Gu Anxi spoke very softly, "you would be my final trump card. If Little Uncle and I couldn’t deal with Bo Qing, then it would be your turn to act."
Mr. He looked surprised.
Gu Anxi smiled and raised her hand, revealing a remote control. "After your surgery, while you were anesthetized, I implanted a chip into your body."
Mr. He’s face instantly changed, almost losing all color.
Gu Anxi gave another very faint smile. "The inspiration ca from Beauty. It can self-destruct, and programs can be written to control your actions. In other words, your life will henceforth be decided by a chip."
Mr. He’s expression slowly turned unsightly... After a long mont, he chuckled softly. "I never imagined I’d fall into the hands of the disciple I valued most. You are indeed far more capable than Bo Qing and Beauty."
