"Damn, you guys are putting in work.." I muttered leisurely, flapping my wings gently, as I flew beside Malachi and Sorin that were currently rushing up so of the stairs embedded in the mountain face...
"You, know, you could at least show that you’re using so effort.." the monkey grunted, bounding from one step to another, as I kept pace easily..
"I am, I an look." I pointed backwards, at my flapping wings, "I’m actually consciously flying, instead of letting the wind carry , so, don’t talk like I’m being inconsiderate.."
"Humph.." the female monkey snorted.
I ignored her once more, her face twisting at the blatant disregard.
"Then, why not help us up, I an, I’m sure you have so freaky ability that can make this all sohow a breeze no?" Malachi asked, landing with a heavy thud on a floating platform, catching his breath.
"You always seem to have so ass pull ability that you shouldn’t even be having yet sohow do, so stop being a sick and help out." The monkey huffed, finally breathing right..
The pressure at this high up had gotten unbearable.
I had been trying to scare them off earlier, the other apes, by telling Malachi that they’d explode if they went up, so imagine my surprise when I actually saw so apes literally exploding from the mounting pressure, the monkey that designed this trial must have been very twisted.
Not that I’m surprised.
After interacting with these guys, I could very clearly see such a thing happening, I an, even the heirs, the ones with monkey king bloodlines weren’t spared, evident from how sweaty and exhausted Malachi looked.
So when he asked that question, I couldn’t help considering it, because let’s face it, he wasn’t wrong.
I had sothing like all I needed to do was spread my perception high enough to reach the peak of the statue, and with devour acting as an energy regenerator? I could accomplish such a feat easily, bringing this entire thing to a close in re monts, and that was just one thod.
So yes, like he said, I could actually help them reach the top in a blink, but then again.
"Where’s the fun in that?"
"Fuck you Dante, no, truly, Fuck You!" Malachi growled as his fingers continued moving...
"Hahahahahaha...." My laughter followed after him, not willing to give the monkey an ounce of respite...
.....
"Fin... finally... uhhh fuck... fuck whoever thought it was... it was a good idea.. to erect such a huge statue.. FUCK!" Malachi collapsed, breathing heavily, sweat pouring like rain as he tried to steady himself, as for sorin? She’d collapsed unconscious the minute she reached the top, Leo having to actively shield her with his aura.
The pressure here hadn’t decreased, on the contrary, it was more than double what they’d faced as during the climb..
I looked around, most of those that had made it up were either hunched, collapsed, or outright unconscious, only a very select few were still standing upright, all be it with so difficulty....
"It seems you guys also got so pretty useful helpers huh?" A calm, authoritative voice sounded out, finally breaking the silence..
I turned, eyes focused on the speaker.
It was the red furred ape Malachi had shown earlier, of the others here, he was one of the few that were least affected.
Yet what caught my attention wasn’t him per say, it was his attire.
"A suit? A monkey in a bloody suit? First it was Hawaiian T-shirts, now it’s a suit? Yea, I think I’ve seen enough of monkey community." I couldn’t help muttering at the ridiculous sight.
Sure, he was less monkey than the others, but he was still a monkey, and I know I’ve seen Malachi in sweatshirts and pants before, but this took the entire cake..
"Heh! Conan, your arrogance still remains unchecked huh? You really believed yourself the chosen one didn’t you?" Another voice chid in, this one belonging to an ape with dark tallic fur, his body looked less flesh and blood and more steel and iron..
"I wonder how many punches it’ll take for him to cave." Was the first thought that ca to mind as I laid my eyes on him.
"Ferrus.." the suite wearing monkey called out in a bored voice..
"Hah! Still feeling so smug and entitled, I’ll love to see the expression in your face when I finally bash that pretentious look in." The steel furred ape, Ferrus, grinned Ferruciously....
....
Oou oou ahh ahh!!! "You guys talk too much, when’s the fight starting. My hands are itchy, itchy ahh ahh.." A boisterous and energetic voice cut into the solemn conversation of the two, successfully dispelling the heavy atmosphere..
All eyes turned towards the source.
My gaze settling on a monkey with fur that stood on ends, arcs of electricity dancing in between them, the monkey’s eyes darted from left to right, seemingly unable to sit still for even a mont..
"Haaa... Raikor, still the impatient one aren’t you? That’s why you can never be king." The steel furred Ferrus chided..
"Huh? What’s that you bastard? Wanna fight???" Raikor, the electric ape, imdiately flared, but before any of them could continue.
"And I suppose this should be our oh so descendant of the last king, Malachi stoneborn." The voice was derisive, mocking, yet sohow still sounded indifferent.
My attention turned at the sound of the voice, focus returning to the suit wearing monkey..
"Conan... you sissy faced bitch.. I didn’t think I’d have the displeasure of eting you here." Malachi finally struggled to his feet, breath heavy.
Of the four gathered in a stand off.
He seed to be the weakest heir.
The others rely stared, either uninterested or fully aware of their limitations, but none made any move to intervene..
"Heh! Father said you were the one watch out for, even when the likes of Ferrus, Raikor, and Rothar, existed, he insisted you were the one to look out for, since you were a direct descendant of the last monkey king, but," the monkey paused, eyes dragging scornfully across Malachi’s figure, "looking at you now, I can only say I am disappointed.." he shook his head..
"What did you just say?" Malachi’s expression imdiately turned grim, his body standing straighter that before, an aura of pure rage leaving his body..
"I said, you, Malachi stoneborn, are a disappointnt to the last monkey king, and it will be my utmost pleasure, to take that title from your disappointnt of a family." The suit wearing monkey repeated his statent, word for word, uncaring for the rising murderous intent that Malachi had begun releasing...
"You... you will pay for that.." the monkey’s eyes begin shining a bleeding red, his fur changing, a heavy atmosphere descending upon the entire place.
The face of the smug suit wearing monkey finally changed the mont he felt the weight of Malachi’s aura, the smugness on his disappearing instantly, "I see, so that’s what he ant." I could hear the monkey mutter in a grim voice...
Yet before Malachi could engage, before anything could unfold properly,
"You.. you must be Dante Draven." A voice broke through the tension.
All eyes swiveled instantly, landing on the speaker.
My eyes narrowed as I saw who it was...
"The dragon son sends his greetings." The black robed bastard had finally made his presence known, and that familiar itch.. that familiar itch had returned...
"I guess I’ll be face punching sooner than I thought." The thought settled with a grin as I turned, focused fully on whatever bullshit I was about to hear...
