Children of a Lesser God Chapter 407: The Will Of The World

:You Must let him eat you, but not let him know that you’re letting him,:

:You didn’t hear that?: Laz was confused. Was Ichpochtli awake or not? Or could she not hear or sothing?

Laz’s thoughts must have reached Ichpochtli because she ended up responding.

:I am awake, but my senses have yet to fully awaken. I’ve been underground here for many hundreds of years and only began waking recently. Tezcatlipoca has been trying to do nothing but escape ever since he was imprisoned. So while he had been sleeping too, he had been paying attention to the world to know when the ti was right. Although I have been keeping watch upon him, I could not know what he had been watching himself. He also hid his awakening from , causing to be behind him in terms of rising. I have already started doing so, but it will still take so ti.:

:Ti that we don’t have...: Laz thought how much easier it would be if one god could fight another god. Of course it wasn’t going to be that easy, but a man could dream.

I don’t know if any others made it here after the final battle, but as far as I know, I am the only one.: Laz knew a little of the Asura history, but even he didn’t know just who his bloodline ca from. And also, it had to have been given to him by either his mother or his father so there was also so questions as to which side of the family might also be related to the Asura. This just gave Laz one more reason to want to find the two of them. Sadly though, he has been without luck in this and it has been many years now since they left.

:The Asura... Amazing. I read about them as a child. To think that such an ancient and noble race would still exist on this planet. I admit that with the many pantheons of this world that have been in existence, we had no idea that there was an Asura bloodline among the ones living on this planet,: Ichpochtli mused. Laz had a lot of questions he wanted to ask, but knew that now wasn’t the ti.

:Wait... what?: Laz was confused. His advancent had already happened. He could feel the power within him and his body was stronger than ever. How had his advancent been held back?

:I knew you were trying to advance as I had been following you. While I didn’t know what you were trying to do, I did notice that you failed to properly advance which I assud was because you were surrounded by allies and did not wish to involve them in your tribulation. While so changes did occur to your body, the actual step from one realm to another is not sothing so... small.:

:No. As far as I know, I am the first person on this planet to have reached this realm in a long ti.:

:But... but.... It’s... it’s such a low realm...?:

:Not to us. You have been sleeping for a long ti and many things are different now. Either way, we can chat about it after we take care of the imdiate problem. Now, what’s this tribulation and how can I use it?:

:Once you get into Tezcatlipoca’s mouth, I will release the protection. Everything after that will be up to you. To be honest, I can’t really say what will happen as I have never before seen an Asura undergo tribulation.:

:And what exactly is it?: Laz still had no clue.

:This world is based on rule. When you live within the will of the world, you must follow those rules. One could compare it to living with your parents in their ho. Because it is their own ho, they are able to make and enforce the rules of the ho. If you are strong enough though, then you can survive the anger of your parents for breaking their rules. In this world, one can have there own palace, but the land belongs to the will of the world itself and it does not take kindly to those trying to have land to themselves. To use the analogy of living with your parents, you’re room can be your room as long as you take care of it. But that doesn’t an that the ground underneath your room or the hall outside your room is yours. In a sense, the room is only yours as long as you follow the other rules. But once you break those, perhaps even the room can be taken away.:

Laz hadn’t lived in a house with his parents in a long ti, but still this analogy made sense.

:So this tribulation is trying to endure the anger of the world for trying to take land for myself?:

:Correct.:

:Then the protection you ntioned?:

:That was hiding your land taking from the world itself. It has yet to acknowledge you as owning the land since it doesn’t know you’ve taken it, but once it does and that land is yours, you are free to do with it as you wish. In that sense, your power will have grown as fully as the land within. Not only that, but after enduring the rage of the world, you will find yourself to be stronger, more firm and more able to withstand the coming trials ahead. It helps to strengthen your body and more importantly, your spirit.:

:So this is the only ti this will happen?:

:No. The stronger you get, the more you must take from the world and the more it’s anger will grow. In that sense, every realm you try to acquire in the future will cause the world to grow more and more angry with you for going against it. Surviving yields benefits. The only reward for failure is death. That is the price you might have to pay for going against what the world is willing to give.:

:I see.: It made sense, but also made Laz feel like he was breaking so sort of rule. Going against the world? It was a whole freaking planet and he was going to piss it off? What if it tried to attack him with a volcano or so shit. Laz didn’t like this but since he had already taken the step, he was left with no choice.

:Don’t worry. It’s not like the will of the world has actual feelings. It won’t hold these things against you minus the anger you cause for breaking it’s rules. But just like your parents, if you survive their anger, they will forgive you. Well. At least until you anger them again. So you won’t have to feel like the world hates you or anything like that in your daily life.: Laz felt like he heard Ichpochtli laughed at his worries, but it wasn’t a mocking laugh. It felt more like a supportive laugh from your older sibling when they are trying to calm your fears about sothing scary. Laz had a good feeling about Ichpochtli, sothing that other bastard didn’t make him feel after their first eting.

Maybe it was because she was asking for nothing in return from her help.

:So this tribulation... will it kill Tezcatlipoca or sothing?:

:No. He has already survived the anger of the world of this level long before. Still though, because he will be so close to you when it happens, the world will also direct it’s anger on him. But I shall warn you of this. The anger he will receive will be drastically stronger than your own. Because of this, you must remain hiding inside of him until I tell you it’s ok. Once you co out, the anger will be directed towards you at a level in which you should be able to survive. The will of the world is like a parent after all and it ans no harm to it’s children. But as I said before, it is without consciousness and therefore it might kill you even if it doesn’t an to. So be careful.:

Laz couldn’t lie, he felt glad by the concern this goddess was showing him. It wasn’t sothing he had gotten before as his so called ’owner,’ A’ruya, was always treating him as a plaything.

:I will follow your instructions then.: Laz said, looking at Tezcatlipoca finally freeing his hand. Laz knew the ti for planning was over. Now it was ti for action, but at least he had help. Luckily, the entire conversation, because it was mind to mind, took no ti at all. If not for that, Laz probably would have already been killed.

:I shall begin freeing myself as well. Since the sin shackles are still within his head. it will draw the lightning in a magnificent way, sothing he deserves. But you must be quick as he cannot be allowed to pull them out before your tribulation starts, otherwise he will hide himself from the world and the tribulation will not affect him. Now go and I shall be free soon myself.:
