Feng Lishen’s chest heaved, his crimson eyes darting wildly before he lunged at one of the surviving elders.

His claws pinned the man down, and without hesitation he sank his fangs into the elder’s neck.

A wet crunch echoed as flesh tore. The elder’s scream was cut short, drowned in the guttural sound of blood being drained.

The mont Lishen pulled back, his body pulsed with renewed vigor.

His muscles tightened, his aura swelled violently, and the bloody mist around him thickened until it resembled a writhing storm.

He turned toward Fang Yuan, lips curled in a grotesque grin, blood still dripping from his teeth.

"Hide in that turtle shell of yours while I feed and grow stronger!" he growled, voice distorted with madness.

Fang Yuan tilted his head, the faintest smile tugging at his lips.

The golden glow of his armor dimd as he dispersed it with a lazy flick of his wrist.

"I’ll wait for you," he said lightly, almost as though speaking to a friend.

"Why not show your strongest? I’d hate to say I won too early."

For a brief second, Feng Lishen t his gaze, sothing animalistic flickering in his eyes.

But he didn’t waste ti to confirm the words.

With a snarl, he pounced on another of his clan mbers.

Bones cracked and screams filled the hall.

Fang Yuan stood there, utterly unbothered with his hands clasped behind his back as he watched the madness unfolds.

A small chuckle escaped him. "Killed by the one they trusted most... as their final mory. I suppose that’s quite the fitting ending."

He let his eyes wander idly across the wreckage of the hall, stepping over broken tiles and the mangled corpses of elders without so much as a glance down.

While Feng Lishen tore through his own people like a starving beast, Fang Yuan moved leisurely, studying the architecture, tracing his fingers across a bloodstained pillar.

"This is his clan," he mused inwardly, lips quirking in amusent. "Shouldn’t it be him doing the clean-up?"

With that thought, he casually began inspecting the chamber, killing ti while the Feng patriarch busied himself with the work Fang Yuan had originally co to do, massacring the Feng clan.

His steps carried him into a side chamber,

where rows of scrolls and ledgers lay stacked neatly on carved shelves.

He plucked one from the pile, flicking it open with a casual motion.

Trade routes. Military provisions. Nas of rchants and emissaries. Then—royal seals. More than one.

Fang Yuan’s brow arched slightly, a trace of amusent curling his lips.

"Tharz Kingdom... Azure Phoenix Kingdom...?"

He turned another page as his fingers brushing dried ink. He saw the neat handwriting detailing paynts, alliances and private deals.

A soft chuckle escaped him. "So... you were even playing both sides all along."

He shut the ledger with a snap,"Greedy enough to think you could dance with two wolves at once... and foolish enough to believe they wouldn’t both turn on you."

Fang Yuan tossed the ledger aside, the heavy to landing with a dull thud against the floor.

He turned to leave when suddenly his steps froze mid-stride as a ripple occurred from his barrier.

His eyes narrowed as he felt the delicate tremor in the barrier he had woven over Mount Skyhowl. Soone had forced their way through.

Without hesitation, Fang Yuan’s divine sense surged outward like a tide, flooding across the whole mountain, covering caverns, and holes.

The cries of dying Feng clansn registered as nothing more than background noise.

His focus sharpened onto the lone figure sprinting desperately through the mist of the outer peaks.

Fang Yuan’s lips curved in faint amusent. With one step, his figure dissolved into the void.

The next instant, he stood in front of the escapee.

The old man skidded to a halt, terror painted across his face, the taste of fleeting freedom still lingering on his tongue.

Fang Yuan’s gaze fell on him with quiet curiosity.

"Yuan Sheng..." His voice was smooth, almost conversational. "Even your na sounds like that of a protagonist."

Yuan Sheng’s eyes widened.

He opened his mouth to speak, probably to plead or curse.... it didn’t matter.

Fang Yuan’s hand moved and

A streak of silver light flashed. The blade arc was so clean that Yuan Sheng’s words never left his throat.

His head lifted from his shoulders, eyes still wide, before tumbling through the air.

Blood sprayed in a crimson arc, spattering Fang Yuan’s robes.

He didn’t spare it a glance.

He exhaled lightly, voice calm as the head hit the ground with a hollow thump.

"I can’t allow you to leave. Especially not when you proved capable to escaping the barrier. That’s definitely not normal."

The severed head rolled once, twice, before coming to rest in the dirt, its glassy eyes staring toward the horizon it would never reach.

Fang Yuan didn’t move imdiately.

Instead, he studied the corpse in silence, his expression unreadable. Then he raised a hand, two fingers forming a seal.

"Shatter."

A ripple of energy coursed through Yuan Sheng’s remains.

Flesh, blood, and bone dissolved in a shimr of ash, as though consud by an invisible fire.

In the span of a breath, nothing was left, not even a trace of his qi, everything was erased from existence as if the man had never lived at all.

"Careful n should leave no loose ends, I’m a careless man," Fang Yuan murmured.

He lowered his gaze to what little had been left behind, a storage ring glinting faintly in the dust.

With a flick of his wrist, it flew into his palm. He swept his divine sense through it, quickly cataloguing the treasures inside.

Spirit stones, talismans, a few rare herbs, and a token with the Feng clan insignia.

Without wasting another mont, his figure blurred, lting once again into the folds of the void.

The next ti he stepped out, it was back within the Feng clan’s desecrated halls.

Blood still ran across the broken tiles, corpses scattered where Feng Lishen’s berserk frenzy had torn them apart.
