Rebecca Quentin asked worriedly, "So what should we do now?"
"The doctor said surgery is necessary as soon as possible..."
"As soon as possible ans..."
Christine Quinn nodded, "Heart intervention surgery. Skyler Jones has already contacted Howard Geoffrey, and if all goes smoothly, old Mrs. Geoffrey is already on the plane bringing Andrew to Y City."
"Andrew..."
ntion of the child made Rebecca Quentin’s nose sting with emotion.
Christine Quinn turned to Rebecca, "I originally didn’t want to tell you about Marie’s condition, but since you’re in Y City and you haven’t seen Andrew in a long ti, this gives you a chance for a mother-son reunion..."
Rebecca looked back at the hospital room, "But what worries more now is Marie’s condition."
Christine fell silent.
Realizing she had inadvertently added pressure on her sister, Rebecca quickly added, "But with so many experts and the best dical facilities, the surgery will certainly go very smoothly."
"Hmm."
To lighten the mood, Rebecca changed the subject, "Sis, I’ll go get so lunch. You probably haven’t eaten this morning."
"I’m not hungry."
"Even if you’re not hungry, you still need to eat!"
Christine nodded helplessly.
Rebecca imdiately went to the nearest hospital restaurant to pack two lunches, and during the wait, she called Skyler Jones.
As soon as the call connected, Rebecca couldn’t help but scold, "Why do you still have ti to be at the office now?"
Skyler was silent.
Rebecca angrily said, "Marie is your daughter. She’s lying in the hospital now, why don’t I see you there?"
Skyler responded coldly, "Are you done?"
Realizing her tone was too harsh, Rebecca softened her deanor and said gently, "I know I have no right to ddle in your affairs with my sister, but I really hope you can spend more ti caring about her. Marie’s condition is so severe, there’s no way she can handle it all alone. At this ti, what she wants most is to have soone by her side, and you know she needs you the most..."
Rebecca spent the entire afternoon at the hospital with Christine until Marilyn Quinn woke up.
Though physically weak, Marilyn was in relatively good spirits and was delighted to see Rebecca.
At this mont, Rebecca sat beside the bed, holding Marilyn’s hand, chatting casually with her, "I heard you did great on your exams this ti. Did Mommy reward you?"
"Yes, Mommy took to the aquarium."
Christine stood by with a smile.
Rebecca promised, "After the surgery, Auntie will take you and your Mommy to the aquarium again. How about that?"
"Okay."
"Mr. Jones."
As the three chatted happily, a nurse’s voice suddenly interrupted.
Rebecca glanced at the door and saw Skyler had arrived.
"Daddy!!"
Marilyn excitedly called out.
Rebecca stood up from the bedside, avoiding looking at Skyler.
Skyler had already moved to the bedside and bent down to give Marilyn a kiss, "Sweetheart, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Even though Marilyn was very weak, she shook her head strongly, "With Daddy, Mommy, and Auntie here, I don’t feel uncomfortable at all."
Skyler reached out and hugged Marilyn into his arms.
Christine walked to Skyler’s side, whispering a reminder, "Be careful not to bump her wrist or they’ll have to reinsert the IV..."
Watching this heartwarming scene, Rebecca quietly left the hospital room.
Sitting on the rest chair outside the room, Rebecca opened her phone.
Her phone stored many photos she took of Andrew before, and whenever she missed him, she’d look at them. But these photos were all taken when Andrew wasn’t even half a year old.
"Missing your son?"
While Rebecca was lost in the photos, Christine’s voice broke in.
Rebecca put away her phone and nodded slightly.
Christine glanced at the hospital clock, "I think old Mrs. Geoffrey will arrive tonight."
"Hmm."
Christine sat down next to Rebecca, comforting her, "Don’t worry, Andrew has only been away from you for over half a year; he won’t forget you."
"Let’s hope so!"
Christine looked back inside the room at Skyler and Marilyn, "Look at Marie; I’ve been the one taking care of her, but her bond with Skyler is even stronger than with . That’s the natural connection of blood ties."
