Lynn reached out his hand toward him and said in a low voice, "I was ordered to be responsible for internal affairs inside the Leviathan as the Eighth Executive Officer. You can call Losh."
The doctor nad Raines nodded and shook his hand, saying, "Doctor ntioned you to . I already know why you ca. You want a potion and a device that can identify and screen Plague Doctor identities, right?"
Lynn's voice was hoarse, "Exactly. That intruder has already found a way to bypass the Tailworm. We must guard against that."
Doctor Raines showed no suspicion and nodded, then turned and said, "Please follow ."
Lynn glanced around and strode after him.
This departnt was one of the few places—besides the First Chamber—where his God-level view had not been granted, and it was also the production site for the Flesh Plague inside the Leviathan.
Lynn walked behind him, discreetly studying the surroundings.
This area was enormous.
The air was saturated with a bloody odor, similar to disinfectant.
Every few steps stood several huge three-dinsional vessels. Inside those containers, countless blood-red liquids bubbled, unquestionably the source fluids for the Flesh Plague used against the chanical Cult.
Farther away, one could see Plague Doctors in white coats in transparent compartnts, performing flesh-and-blood modifications on various organisms. The scenes were extrely grueso.
"You must be here for the first ti, Executive. This is the Leviathan's research center. The plagues and viruses used by Plague Doctor units across regions mostly co from here," the Plague Doctor called Raines said while flipping through files as he walked, focused.
"And to facilitate research, the Doctor periodically sends live specins from around the world for our experints. Recently, however, we've adjusted our research direction to counter the chanical Cult."
Lynn's gaze flicked.
He imdiately saw within the surrounding vessels countless chanized bodies, their forms distorted, bound by nurous tentacles.
They seed to notice his presence.
He could even see those machine bodies trapped by flesh and blood, slowly and awkwardly turning their heads, staring hollowly into his eyes.
This place.
Was the root of innurable evils.
Even Miaomiao, who he had wrapped around his waist like a belt, made Lynn clearly sense her emotional turmoil.
Clearly,
this scene had triggered her bad mories from back then.
"We've arrived, please enter."
Doctor Raines led him to a door covered in flesh and blood. He slowly removed his glove and plugged his neural link into the door. The door slowly opened.
The instant it did, a pungent scent of reagents rushed out.
Raines then turned and invited, "This is my laboratory. Basically, all the reagent and plague samples we've developed are stored here. Of course, aside from and Mr. Daybreak, no one else has permission to co in, but this ti you are an exception."
"Please co in."
Saying that, he stepped inside.
Lynn smiled inwardly, adjusted his monocle, then signaled his underlings to stop and followed in alone.
The doctor remained completely unsuspecting.
That made sense—after all, he had been personally promoted by Doctor 315 and was one of Doctor 315's favorites now.
...
The mont he stepped in,
the mbrane tissues on the walls, like fireflies, emitted a faint glow, illuminating the area.
At once, Lynn could make out the layout of the room.
Row after row of cabinets filled the whole space. The room was huge—at least the size of a basketball court—and each neatly ordered cabinet contained samples of various reagents, packed densely and dazzling to the eye.
Imdiately several reagent panels appeared before Lynn's eyes.
[Bloodfall Reagent]
[Type]: Plague
[Quality]: Legendary-
[Description]: A terrifying plague reagent developed by the Plague Doctor team. Once infected, bodily tissues rapidly dissolve and collapse in a very short ti.
[Cursed Art Turmoil Reagent]
[Type]: Plague
[Quality]: Legendary-
[Description]: Specifically researched to target cursed arts practitioners. After infection, the target's cursed arts will fall into a berserk state and backfire on the host, causing massive damage.
[Succubus Reagent 2.0]
[Type]: Reagent of Desire
[Quality]: Legendary
[Description]: Formulated by Plague Doctor departnts through deconstructing succubus bodily fluids and combining studies on the abilities of Desire Sect believers. It is a highly destructive and terrifying reagent. Mild use causes irresistible craving, severe use can drain vitality to death. Cases exist where four test subjects, after using the succubus reagent, broke through racial and physical limits and forcibly assaulted a giant lizard, so it is classified as a banned drug.
Lynn was dazzled, eyes unable to take it all in.
There was no doubt that being able to see so many different reagents at once was an enormous temptation for a young human who aspired to beco a great Potion Master.
Doctor Raines carried a lamp and walked to a counter deeper in the lab, then turned to Lynn and pointed at the counter in front of him, introducing:
"Executive, these are the new reagents I recomnd for identity recognition."
"Each produces different effects, but because they're derived from deconstructing Leviathan's flesh, once injected they can be perceived by the Leviathan in real ti and pinpointed to a specific location. We can also use Leviathan's neural privileges to monitor everyone in real ti, which can fully eliminate the risk of infiltration."
Lynn ca forward with a half-smile and took the small sample vials Raines handed him.
He toyed with the reagents in his hand, then lifted a corner of his mouth and said, "Doctor, I should warn you again, that intruder is very cunning and dangerous. I see no guards in this lab. Aren't you afraid he might take advantage of the opportunity?"
Doctor Raines chuckled and leaned on his cane, "Executive, you worry too much. My place is rock-solid! Besides, the door to this area requires both my and Doctor Daybreak's permissions to open. Even if he had his eye on this place, at most he could infiltrate the outer areas, not here. Rest assured."
Lynn stroked his chin, skeptical, "But what if he actually manages to get in? You never worry about the what-if. Also, I found that my privileges don't give this area's view. If sothing happened to you here, I might not discover it imdiately."
Doctor Raines smiled wryly, adjusted his beard, and shook his head, "Executive, there's truly no need to fret. It's not just you—neither I nor the Doctor can manipulate the flesh in this area. During the initial design, several heavily armored sealed rooms were intentionally set aside. The flesh is fixed and immobilized, precisely to prevent peeking and intrusion."
"Although this does inconvenience our monitoring, it also effectively avoids people using the Leviathan to spy or covet, for example, the Flesh and Blood Dominator."
Without a doubt,
his words revealed the fragile, outwardly-friendly but inwardly-hostile relationship between them and the Flesh and Blood Cult.
Lynn nodded, touched his chin, glanced around, and said, "So that ans as long as you're here, outsiders can't peer in and we can't transmit information out. For example, we can't neural-link with Leviathan?"
Doctor Raines rubbed his whiskers cheerfully, "Of course not. A sealed room must be tight to deserve the na."
Lynn nodded, suddenly understanding.
Then he frowned and pondered, "If that's the case, does that an even if I kill soone here, Doctor Daybreak wouldn't know? Is that right?"
