Dr. Raines imdiately found it amusing, clasping his hands behind his back and saying, "Executive Officer, you really do know how to joke. But it's true, due to this secret room's special construction, even if soone were killed here, no one outside could spy on it. I often have so Dominator Sect cultists tied up and brought here, then I dissect them, and finally dissolve them with acid—not a trace left behind."
As he spoke.
He even pointed toward a large lting furnace not far away.
Indicating that he frequently engaged in sacrificing others for the sake of science, and he was very skilled at it.
Lynn suddenly had a mont of enlightennt, smiling as he gave a thumbs-up. "I see! This process is really perfectly arranged! Dr. Raines, you truly live up to being a senior of our 'En' generation!"
Dr. Raines laughed heartily, stroking his beard. "Of course, I am after all—"
"'En generation'? What 'En generation'?"
He was clearly taken aback.
But it was precisely at that mont that Lynn's face suddenly split into a broad, savage grin. His right eye transford in an instant into the black pupil of the Death Curse, and raging black threads of curses erupted from his Cursed Eye.
"Because I am the Lynn you're looking for."
In that instant, Lynn leaped backward, and almost simultaneously as the curse activated, he hurled a tal briefcase at the Plague Doctor.
"Death Bind!"
Accompanied by that ferocious voice, Raines's ears were instantly filled with the piercing shrieks of countless malevolent spirits. His expression changed drastically, but just as he tried to move, dense, pitch-black human hands crawled out from beneath his feet, crazily binding his body in place.
[Ding! You have activated "Earthbound Spirit Curse" on Raines. You are suffering severe pain backlash. Your M Charge has reached MAX!]
Raines was imdiately shocked, staring in disbelief at the retreating Lynn, who wore a faint smile, struggling madly as he shouted, "Executive Officer! What do you an?!"
Lynn landed on one knee like a leopard, raised his head, adjusted his monocle, and smiled like a crescent moon. "Didn't I already say it? I'm the one you've been looking for—the intruder. I'm the Night Doctor Lynn. You've all been fooled by ."
In an instant, Raines trembled all over.
A look of terror imdiately spread across his face.
But by the ti he realized it, it was already too late. The briefcase Lynn had thrown at him burst open, and a loli puppet dressed in a Gothic dress as black as a rose, wearing a small black hat, calmly leaped out. She held a Black Umbrella, and faint, crystalline puppet threads shimred on her delicately curved fingers.
"Miss Puppet! She's all yours!"
And almost at that very mont.
Puppet threads shot out like venomous snakes, instantly piercing into Raines's shoulders, limbs, torso, and neck. Dense and interwoven, they pinned him down completely.
And when Raines tried to open his mouth to call out, it was already too late.
He had lost all control of his body in an instant.
Hei Xianyue, who had already been promoted, was simply not soone he could contend with. What's more, he wasn't a combatant at all. The knowledge in his head was utterly useless in this situation.
Crack—
His legs were instantly snapped by the threads, forcing him heavily to his knees.
"Ahhhhh—"
A series of agonized sounds escaped his throat, but he was as immobile as a puppet.
How could this be?!
Large drops of cold sweat dripped down his twisted face.
Everything had happened too suddenly.
Hadn't the Doctor said this was a trusted Executive Officer sent this ti? Why was this person the intruder?!
[Ding! Raines's Fear of You 10]
Accompanied by the prompts in his ear, Hei Xianyue's petite figure slowly landed. Her high heels gently touched the ground, umbrella open, expression calm. After a brief glance at Lynn, she took a small step back, her form fading into stealth and concealnt as before.
Lynn made a silly salute toward where Miss Puppet had disappeared, then turned his smile back onto Dr. Raines's face.
"Impossible!"
Raines gritted his teeth, staring at him wildly. The puppet threads and the Death Bind curse had left countless wounds carved into his body from the pressure.
"I heard the Doctor say clearly that the intruder was still lurking outside! How could you possibly be him?!"
Lynn smiled, rolling his neck and tapping his temple lightly. "Dr. Raines, why not use your head for a mont? I never said there was only one intruder lying low. I think you've been doing research for too long—your brain's gotten rusty. You ought to learn a bit about the tricks and sches of the outside world."
Raines's face had turned deathly pale.
He knew imdiately.
His fate was sealed.
And he finally understood why Lynn had asked him so many questions earlier, while he had foolishly thought it was all just a joke. In truth, Lynn had been confirming whether this was a good opportunity to make a move against him.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
He gritted his teeth, struggling desperately, ferocious and frantic.
He had invited a wolf into the house!
He wanted to report this to the Doctor, but he couldn't do a thing. He was never a combatant, and he could feel the terrifying aura emanating from the puppet girl who had appeared monts ago.
But more importantly, how had he infiltrated the Plague Doctors' ranks?! How had he deceived everyone's eyes, even getting the Doctor to appoint him as the Eighth Executive Officer, securing such a high position within their organization in such a short ti?!
But that still wasn't the main point!
Because when he thought about the authority his current status and position granted him, he truly felt despair.
To deal with the intruder, the Doctor had granted him the highest authority to mobilize every military departnt within the Leviathan!
Put in plain terms, the supre military commander of their forces was actually an enemy spy. In this situation, there wasn't even any need to spy on action plans anymore, because the action plans were made by the spy himself! What the hell was there to spy on?!
"You bastard! You demon! Lowlife! Shaless!!"
He roared furiously at Lynn.
[Ding! Lynn's Happiness 1]
Accompanied by the prompts, Lynn smiled lightly as he shouldered the Night Demon Blade and walked over to the cabinet in front of him. He casually picked up a vial of potion, a hint of a smirk curling at the corner of his mouth.
"Dr. Raines, thank you so much for bringing here. I must say, this place is truly a rare treasure trove for . You see, I too have a dream of becoming a great Potion Master. But compared to a learned ntor like you, I'm still far from being up to par."
